What happens if my site was down for 10 hours?
-
Hello,
We have a fairly large site. Due to an attack it was taken down for about 10 hours.
We have finally been able to resolve the security issues, restore the code and put everything back online.
Now, we are a little bit worried about what GoogleBot will think of us. We have been working hard during the past months to get a better SEO. Should we be worried?

I had some of my sites down for 24 hours, and no problem at all.
But if your site is down more times, then this can be a problem.
Good luck!

Hi Julien,
I think Philipp B is right with the fact that 10 hours shouldn't pose a problem. I too have experienced much longer down time and this hasn't caused me any problems in relation to site ranking on Google. I would however check GWT as already suggested - that way you can see what pages weren't available during your down time and check the impact.

10 hours shouldn't pose a problem - i've had no worries even with longer downtime. googlebot won't even have tried to access most of your pages in that time, so i'm sure only a fraction of pages was unaccessible for the bot during the downtime (namely those it had on crawl schedule then).
to be sure, you can always check the crawl stats on GWT and see if there is any significant change.

Micro-site homepage not being indexed
http://www.reebok.com/en-US/reebokonehome/ This is a homepage for an instructor network micro-site on Reebok.com The robots.txt file was excluding the /en-US/ directory, we've since removed that exclusion, and resubmitted this URL for indexing via Google Webmaster but we are still not seeing it in the index. Any advice would be very helpful, we may be missing some blocking issue or perhaps we just need to wait longer?

Staging site and "live" site have both been indexed by Google
While creating a site we forgot to password protect the staging site while it was being built. Now that the site has been moved to the new domain, it has come to my attention that both the staging site (site.staging.com) and the "live" site (site.com) are both being indexed. What is the best way to solve this problem? I was thinking about adding a 301 redirect from the staging site to the live site via HTACCESS. Any recommendations?

Micro-sites for Landing Pages?
We are working with a site that is difficult at best to update. The client intends to re-do the site in 18 months or so but needs to start generating more traffic (and sales) now. What are thoughts on creating landing pages as micro-sites that point to the current site conversion page as a stop gap? Beyond not sharing authority is there any known penalty? By the way they don't have tremendous ranking right now - often bottom of page two - and the micro-site won't duplicate any content.

How can you get the right site links for your site?
Hello all, I have been trying to get Google to list relevant site links for my site when you type in our brand name, Loco2 or for when Loco2 comes up in a search result. Different things come up when you search Loco2 and Loco 2. We would like site links to look like how they do when you search Loco 2. However Loco2 is our brand name, NOT Loco 2. Does anyone know why Google is doing this and whether we can influence results? We have done as much as possible via Google webmaster, in terms of specifying the links we DO NOT want Google to list for Loco2. However, when you search "Loco2", results only show simple site links. Ideally what we want is: Loco2 to be recognised as the brand NOT Loco 2 The same results (substantial, identical) for Loco2 as for Loco 2 (think o2 and o 2) For the site links to reflect the main pages of our site (Times & Tickets, Engine Room forum etc.) Many thanks in advance!
