Hi! My users would search for english keywords, for example: "my product review".

How can I optimize my site for english searches? Should I post the content in romanian and the title in english?

Things I've done so far:

1.Romanian tld

2. Ip from Romania

3. Links from romanian sites.

What do you guys think?

Hi Alex,

This is a good question. If you want your users to find you when they search for you in english then you would need to create english content and submit the site to www.google.RomanianExtension

If the searchers are going to be searching from Romania then the site should be hosted in Romania, if it is hosted in Romania and you want your users to find it by searching in Romanian then your content should be written in Romanian.

International SEO Two Subdomains Showing Up in Google Search Results

Hi I have a client that is having two subdomains showing up SERP when you Google their name. Here are the details. They have two subdomains us.companyname.com and en.companyname.com us.companyname.com is for the US and has completely different products and content than en.companyname.com en.companyname.com is the site designed for Europe and it is in English. How can I make it so that only the us. version shows up in the search results? Thanks in advance!

What is best way to display user reviews in languages different from the page language? (e.g. English reviews on a page in Spanish). For the user it would be useful to see these reviews but I am concerned about negative SEO impact.
I would not want to invest into having them all translated by human translator. Any suggestions?

Google Analytics Search Console for International Countries

Hi Moz Community, Our e-commerce site is trying to gauge the opportunity of certain queries for specific countries. I'm trying to use the search console data presented in GA to do this. I'm looking at the top queries filtered by each country and also the top landing pages for each country as well. The non filtered data for queries and landing pages is completely different than by country and some if it looks wrong. For instance, our most popular query by impressions shows 0 query impressions in the US once filtered by country. Our site is based in the US so this doesn't make any sense, the same is true for landing pages. Is the queries and landing page data in GA under search console a combination of all countries? Since our target is set to the USA in search console is this data technically US based? How is this data so off? Thanks for answering!

International SEO Subfolders / user journey etc

Hi According to all the resources i can find on Moz and elsewhere re int seo, say in the context of having duplicate versions of US & UK site, its best to have subfolders i.e. domain.com/en-gb/ & domain.com/en-us/ however when it comes to the user journey and promoting web address seems a bit weird to say visit us at: domain.com/en-us/ !? And what happens if someone just enters in domain.com from the US or UK ? My client wants to use an IP sniffer but i've read thats bad practice and should employ above style country/language code instead, but i'm confused about both the user journey and experience in the case of multiple sub folders. Any advice much appreciated ? Cheers Dan

Multiple Regional Domains - such as .co.uk / .de etc for one brand

Hello, We are in the process of building up our version 2 for our site, currently we have only one domain (i.e. xxxxx.com). Our target audience is distributed among various regions and speak different languages, we would like to know which will benefit us more: a) by having one root domain and then having folders based on automatic IP detection, for example the customer opening a website in Japan would see the domain as: www.xxxx.com/jp. B) or is it better to have different domains so in the above case it will be www.xxxx.co.jp. The content on the site will be different based on the regional demand, so of course the language will be Japanese and the content will also be aligned with the Japanese community. We plan to start with 5 different markets (UK/US/AU, Japan, China, Germany, Spanish speaking countries). We would appreciate if you can suggest us the best route to achieve the best results. English directories for foreign blogs ?

Hello guys, I'm Brazilian and I'm still learning SEO stuff and Im learning a lot around your tool, blogs and texts. All my websites are from Brazil, they are in PT-BR and I see a BIG market over here around SEO since comparing to EUA, we dont have so many customization services and our market is still growing. I have been looking for a great SEO strategy and I'm seeing that blog comments (real and quality ones, even nofollow links) and great directories submissions are still good for positioning at th big G. Unfortunatelly, my country don't have so many great directories where I can get great indexed high PR links, so I would like to ask you guys if anyone knows if I send my blog to international directories I would penalize my blog. Every time I think on this subject, I think that maybe google can see this submission as a spam or a blast, even if it was sent manually. Since I read everywhere that its good to find niches related to make up great blog comments, a foreing web directory submission maybe can hurt my rank. Sorry for my bad english.

Alternate tag. Anybody had success getting English websites only with localized currency served with alternate tag?

I have an English website with USD prices and US phone.
Via currency dropdown visitors in Ireland can choose EUR as currency, visitors from Denmark Danish crown etc and via GEO IP I also serve local contact phone numbers. So I though it made sense to define this with the alternate tags, but now after several months google still does not pickup these pages in local searches. Did anybody have success with getting a website just with currency parameter ranked locally using the alternate tag? Does it help to have also static links (not only dropdown links) to currency versions on the page? Any other thing that could help to have google pick these up? Below my code sample:
