CDN Servers

Will using CDN servers, where your website is synced (cached?) across multiple servers, have an effect on the SEO of your domain?

My pleasure!

Thanks for your reply. That makes a lot of sense. Had various people telling me conflicting things.

A traditional CDN would just provide edge servers for the images and as such, your actual site is not on the CDN so it will not have any negative impact. In fact, if your content returns nice and quickly, it could even have a positive effect.
SEOMoz, Unbounce and even Shopify all use a CDN and I have never seen any negative implications from this with their rankings.
I guess one time this could be problematic is if people link to lots of your assets (infographics etc) but some smart linking strategies where you provide a page for them to link to rather than a direct link to the asset is a better strategy all around so something like:
So, we are asking people to link to a page on the site and wrapping up any images from the CDN on their own page so that the inbounds point to the page rather than the asset on the CDN. (which is a better strategy all around).
Apart from that, I can't see any reason why a CDN would be anything but a good thing.
Hope that helps

Changing server location for a global targetted site
Hi, I am just in the process of purchasing a site from someone. The site has a global target audience (well global English speaking anyway). The site is on a .info domain and is currently hosted in Germany. Checking on SemRush it looks like 70% of traffic comes from English speaking countries (US, Australia, Canada, UK). Now I need to move the hosting to one of my own when I change ownership of the site. Now does it overly matter where I choose my hosting as currently it is hosted in Germany (around 4% of visitors from Germany) but I want to do my best not to knock any rankings but I was thinking of moving it to a UK or US based host but still want to keep a general worldwide userbase. As the US accounts for the largest part of traffic (39%) would I be best choosing hosting based over in the US or does it not overly matter too much (I am in the UK so most hosting I use is UK based). I have read a number of posts on server location but most seem to be for site which have a country specific target audience. Thanks for your help! 🙂

Does Google take into account the place where the server is hosted to rank the pages.
Does Google take into account the place where the server is hosted to rank the pages. What I mean is, if I have a server in USA and I am working for the Spain marketplace: Will Google rank better my pages for this market if the server were hosted in Spain?

Does anyone have any experience on the change in the rankings (positive or negative) after a site implemented a content delivery network (CDN) like Akamai or Level 3?

Does changing host server between countries affect SEO if there is no content change?
My website is currently hosted with Go-daddy and the hosting server is in the USA on a Linux platform. The problem is, the response time for my Australian Customers, is too slow, as a result, I decided to move to another Go Daddy Hosting server in the Asia Pacific Region. This has been completed successfully, however I think there may be some impact on my rankings. Can you advise if there are any specific things that I must do, when I move to a different hosting server with the same company or an alternative company. Note: We are not changing domain names or content, purely just moving to a hosting server closer to where our customers are based. Looking forward to your response.
