Removing old URLs that are being used for my on page optimization?
-
Is there a way to remove old URL's that are still being used for my keywords for my on page optimization? They are giving me grades of F since they no longer exist and if I change the URL to the current one, the grade becomes an A, but they are still showing after the new crawl.

Hey there,
Thanks for the question. If you have some old deprecated URLs that On-Page is still trying to check, you can get rid of them by click the Stop Running Weekly button as seen here: http://www.screencast.com/t/r7HO1zkuS
You can then either wait for them to automatically be generated for ranking keywords or manually enter them into your On-Page Report Card.
I hope that helps.
Cheers,

im nto sure i understand your answer, i sort of use both, if you go to your campaign there is the on page link, there it shows all keywords and the grades for all of them, for my keywords though its getting 2 grades, one for the correct url whihc is an A and one for the old url (same keyword) and thats an F, yes i can click on the wrong url and put in the right url and regrade it and I get an A but it sucks to look at my overall on page report and see dozens of grade F's. I want to clean that up but cant get seomoz to stop pulling the old url and the thing is the old url doesnt exist its a temp redirect to a standard page, so im wondering if I cant tell seomoz not to use a certain url in my on page ranking and save that data or delte a url or somehting so my overall report card had no F's, below is an example, the first url is redirected so not sure how seomoz is grading that or are they grading the redirected page? and if so can i stop that or do i need permanent 301 to solve that, i could 301 to the bottom url

You use this tool http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/on-page-keyword-optimization/new ? or are seeing your results from your campaign. It is very likely that if you see results from your campaign must wait a week to be corrected.

they are redirected but seomoz is still using them for my on page rankings. For example sometimes it shows the same keyword 2-3 separate times each with a different url yet I only have one active url for that keyword, the old ones that seomos is pulling are redirected and some seomoz is pulling the worng page entirely, not an old page but for example I have a for my product in brown but seomox is using my gold page for brown keyword so my main question is can we control or save what url seomoz uses for on page rankings

If the pages are no longer the best you can do is 301 redirects

Should I optimize my home-page or a sub-page for my most important keyword
Quick question: When choosing the most important keyword set that I would like to rank for, would I be better off optimizing my homepage, or a sub page for this keyword. My thinking goes as follows: The homepage (IE www.mysite.com) naturally has more backlinks and thus a better Google Page Rank. However, there are certain things I could do to a subpage (IE www.mysite.com/green-widgets-los-angeles ) that I wouldn't want to do to the homepage, which might be more "optimal" overall. Option C, I suppose, would be to optimize both the homepage, and a single sub-page, which is seeming like a pretty good solution, but I have been told that having multiple pages optimized for the same keywords might "confuse" search engines. Would love any insight on this!

Can I use nofollow to limit the number of links on a page?
My website is an ecommerce and we have on homepage about 470 links ! 1. We have a top bar with my account, login, faq, home, contact us and link to a content page. 2 . Then we have multistore selection 3. Then we have the departament menu, with several parants + child category links 4. Then we have a banner 5. Then we have a list of the recently sold and new products. 6. then we have an image grid with the most important cms/content pages (like faq, about us, etc) 7. then we have footer, with all info pages, contact us, about us, my account etc. There are some links that are repeted 2, 3 times. For a user it is easier to find the informations but I'm not sure how search bots (google) deal with that. So I was thinking on how can I have around 150 links to be followed. To remove the links from the page is not possible. What about to add nofollow to repeted links and some child category, as the spider will crawl the father and will access child on the next page? Is this a good strategy?

Listing all services on one page vs separate pages per service
My company offers several generalized categories with more specific services underneath each category. Currently the way it's structured is if you click "Voice" you get a full description of each voice service we offer. I have a feeling this is shooting us in the foot. Would it be better to have a general overview of the services we offer on the "Voice" page that then links to the specified service? The blurb about the service on the overview page would be unique, not taken from the actual specific service's page.

Why is my contact us page ranking higher than my home page?
Hello, It doesn't matter what keyword I put into Google (when I'm not signed in and have cleaned down my browsing history) the contact us page ranks higher than the home page. I'm not sure why this is, the home page has a higher page authority, more links and more social media shares, the website is an established one. When I have checked Google Analytics my home page gets more people landing on it than the contact us page. It looks like people are ignoring the contact us page and scrolling down until they find the home page. I'd appreciate any help or advice you might have. Thank you.

Jobs listing page optimization
I've a client with a jobs page. I've found that a high traffic, low competition keyword phrase 'OH jobs' and wish to optimize appropriately. The trouble is that there is hardly any body text and any number of job entry listing. As the listing which all go to individual job description pages, naturally fit the description (part description) OH Job - would it be good to use this description within the anchor text of the links? If so is there a maximum? I've been trawling around SEOmoz and Google Search and have got more and more bogged down! ta

Campaign for pages that I want to optimize?
Go easy on my guys and gals. I'm brand new to the world of SEO and I'm a Realtor by trade, so this is all new to me, but exciting and fascinating at the same time. You might ask why I don't hire a company to do the SEO for me for my website at: www.DiscountRealEstateFees.com since I'm one of those Realtors who makes a ton of money every year. Unfortunately, that's not the case and some day when I've built my business to a point that I can relax and breathe easy, I will hire that company. Besides, by then, I'll be an SEO expert and be able to ride herd on them if they're not doing a good job! My question is: Should I create a campaign on SEOMoz.org for each page on my website that I want to optimize or are the campaigns supposed to be for individual websites only? Thanks for your help!
