How Do You Determine The Value/Worth of A #1 Ranking?
-
There are many articles out there, some outdated, and I am confused as to how to determine the value/worth (in terms of estimated revenue and traffic percentage) when you achieve a #1 ranking in google. I am also looking for a way to estimate the value, say, if a lower ranked keyword jumped to a better position--what that increase might be. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

The value will be different for different people.
Person A runs adsense.
Person B has ecommerce selling at $79.99
Person C has ecommerce selling at $69.99
Person D sells at $79.99 had has better conversion rate then B or C.
The value is what you are able to achieve.

Hey there,
Measuring or calculating the value of rankings is always a tough one because each keyword can provide completely different traffic levels when at a number one listing.
The way that I personally do this, to get a rough estimate, is to look at the total monthly local searches figure for the search term. This will give you an idea of how many searches will be made using this keyword each month. Now that you know that, take a look at the total results within Google, as well as the total results with the keyword in their webpage title (using the intitle: operator). This will then show what kind of competition you are up against.
It has been found that around 70% of all searches are clicked through on the top 3 results so you could take 70% of the global monthly searches, then multiply this figure (estimated click-throughs from the search engine) by the website conversion rate. This will then give you a rough estimate for what kind of potential revenue you could expect from getting a #1 ranking listing.
As I said before, this is a very rough estimate as there are many other factors, but this can be a good starting point.
Hope this helps.
Matt.

Is there an automated way to determine which pages of your website are getting 0 traffic?
I'm doing a content audit on my company website and want to identify pages with zero traffic. I can use GA for low traffic, but not zero traffic. I can do this manually, but it would take a long time. Are there any tools to help me determine these pages?

How can I track my rankings on Google Images?
I noticed a small amount of traffic coming from a particular very generic keyword. Being pleasantly surprised that we are ranking for this, and after some digging, I found that we are actually ranking in Google images, rather than in the web results. How can I track whether other keywords are ranking in Google images? I use Rank Checker to track keywords in the main web results, but this doesn't have a function for Google Images. Help please - thanks.

Alexa Rank and Sem Rush Rank
Just wondering if these rankings even matter? One will go up while the other goes down.. and the Alexa ranking doesn't seem to follow any rhyme or reason in relation to the data I see in Google analytics. Anyone else using these tools? Is one a better indicator of a websites health than the other or should we scrap both from our reports?

Weekly Yahoo #1 rankings seem faulty
For the past 3 weeks I have been getting several #1 rankings on Yahoo or Bing but then when I check it on the same day I get the reports from SEOmoz...I am not even ranked in the top 50 on most. After the 1st week I thought it was just a quick drop in rankings but 3 weeks in a row...something is not right. Is there a problem with SEOmoz yahoo rankings? Boo

Google vs Bing/Yahoo SERP results?
I see large differences in Google and Bing/Yahoo SERP results for many keywords. Google shows many of our primary keywords in their top ten, while Bing/Yahoo rank the same one 40-50 or above. Do you have any insight on their differences that might account for this variation? We are legitimate, long time, white hatters at a small manufacturer that is one of the leaders in our industry. The only thing I can think of that might describe this issue is PPC advertising. Their algorithms wouldn't be that inconsistent would they? (We do much more paid advertising on Google) But generally this should have no affect, right? Thanks, George...
