Does spinning content work any longer?
-
A few years ago, I used Free Traffic System, and spun a bunch of content to get links.
I still have tens of thousands of these links showing up in stats. They were probably not good quality links.
Will I get penalized if I pick up the spinning game again?

Hi,
English is not my mother tongue but I'm looking for a content spinning services provider to deliver hundreds of description for the same products categories. For example, I have 380 product descriptions for 1 category, 450 for another category, etc. and I have 87 categories to cover. I think content spinning is the only solution to generate these descriptions in a reasonable time frame and at a reasonable cost, too.
What do you think?
Best regards,

Keri,
Of course, that level of copy-writing, should be penalized, especially if they are that lazy to create an article that doesn't make sense.
I'm talking about top quality spinning. Something that Journalist and PR Specialist do, day in, day out. In fact, the majority of the news stories written today would of been reworded from another source. How else can news spread across outlets if it is all seen as related/duplicate content?
If i get 5 stories, take a piece from each story and reword it and add my opinion, at what point does Google see this as spun content?
It can't. Otherwise the majority if not all of the blogosphere would be seen as duplicate.I wouldn't even class this as grey hat. Just unoriginal topics with a differing opinion.
Thomas
A single blog on my own servers, used a "fashion news" related site, with the occasional client anchor text dropped it, it has active social presence with many followers and ranks highly.
Manipulation of semi grey hat methods is needed for smaller clients. It is this stepping stone that creates traffic and leads to more organic methods in the future.

When you say mix things up "keep your content unique" that kind of makes sense to me. However when you say to me that you're actually spinning content between 15 other clients I don't know if you host or not or what c blocks? However Google will only take only need one lead to you before they figured out What I'm getting at is you might not get caught today my not this year but eventually Google will figured out their only spending more and more time trying to eliminate this type of stuff you have to have valuable content actually matters to rank. And I say that I mean rank in the future and stay clean don't do things that manipulate the system try to build something that's actually worth something that's what Google wants that's what people want to win. go to copy Copyscape.com type in your website and see what they Will call you for no cost and that is some a very simple one that is nothing compared to what Google has.

[disclaimer: I don't like content spinning, and I don't advocate it.]
Have someone who has native-level fluency read the generated content and make sure it makes sense. I've seen "think before you beverage" come out of "think before you drink" on an article about drinking.
Usually, high-quality sites won't accept spun content. For YouMoz, we reject content that is published elsewhere and reworded by hand.

I spin content on a daily basis and haven't noticed any sufficient drops as a byproduct. I think if you do it right it shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure you change the title, sentence structure, paragraph structure, anchor text and outbound links.
Also how often does the specific site/blog link to the page your trying to rank for? The beauty of having 10-15 clients is that when it comes to blog spinning each article, the anchor text is diverse to the previous 10 blog posts already posted.
Mix things up and make the content unique and you shouldn't have an issue.

Yes a few years ago used to work like a charm. However now you must be very very careful and definitely do not recycle or/spinn content when you do that you will definitely be picked up a Google algorithm and penalized severely. Just think of everything that you've achieved with it in the negative that's what you do essentially get. Don't try it and my best advice is used fresh content that has been written by a real human being to Try to trick Google is a waste of time these days. I hope I've been of help sincerely, Tom

Disavow Links - how do you know if it's worked?
I asked another SEO company to analysis my link structure (as I was too busy!) As I was flat lining on some work I was doing. They said I potentially had an algo penalty and that i need to do a disavow , even though I had no messages from Google saying I had unnatural links. stupidly I agreed to the disavow. Looking at Webmasters tools it seems they've submitted a bunch of links. Since they've done this traffic dropped by 60%, ranking dropped massively. In google Webmasters all the links which are meant to be removed are still showing. How do I know if the actual disavow has been done? And should I do a reconsideration request? Even though Google hadn't flagged an issue ??

How to work with directories for SEO?
Hi, How many directory links do you tend to build in 1 month? And what do you look for in a directories before you submit? I could build 2 links a day from directories but the thought of 60 links being built a month from directories shouts bad news to me. I've had a look and come across a few directories with high DA/PA but at the end of the day they are just link directories, no content, lots of thin pages with lots of links pointing out. A couple of examples of good directories would help. Cheers

Link Building for lower budgets that work on 2012
Hello, I think many of us have re-plan their SEO strategy since the latest updates from Google and we all saw that coming anyway. We already know that link building using Directories, Article sites, Link exchange, profiles, footer/side links, paid links, press releases and other have been devalued or not working at all. For low budget websites and websites that cannot afford fresh/valued updated content or other link baiting techniques there arent much left. I my self found that Social Media and Blogging (Guest posts) are they only techniques left for websites that cannot manage to get natural links. Also i have realized that On-page optimization is getting more attention again. We all have great ideas of acquiring links but what we do when time and budget is limited? Google promotes natural link building but how you supposed to get natural links from a new low reputation website? I kinda of like the new approach since it will make SEO work a lot of harder and eliminate the easy path success. It will also focus the SEO job more on On-page and on great content. But this is getting a lot of harder for new websites with lower budgets and lower time to consume on SEO. I deeply know the answer of my question but i would like your opinion also and of course if anyone would like to share some ideas or know-how to discuss is welcome.

Adding a directory and aggregated content to my ecommerce site
I'd like to add a directory of websites to my ecommerce site. We operate within a nice niche both in terms of products and demographics. The directory would be specific to our verifical and market. My concern is how Google will see these external links. A reciprocal link won't be required to be in our directory, but I suspect many sites would like back to us as we outreach to them with content ideas, their directory links, and as we share them with our social network on twitter and facebook. The directory would be broken down into categories so each page may have 1-20 external links on it. Our architecture already incldes category links (all internal) so these would be in additional the links you would normally see on our site. I'd also like to aggregate some content - again, mostly external links. Will Google have take poorly to that aggregation?

Nofollow links & content syndication
When syndicating content, I have heard/read that even if the piece you syndicate has a link back to your site (original post), the engines should be able to tell your post is the original because of the link that is pointing back. Is this the case when the links are "nofollow"? I think not, but I just would like to get someone else point of view. I think that if they don't want to follow the links, they should at least add noindex meta robots tags to the post so it doesn't create duplicate content... Any thoughts? Thanks!
