Why are my rankings down?

Hi,
To some extent your answer above may be a large contributor to the steady decline in rankings over time.
If your pages aren't refreshed and you're not doing anything much to update them and also not doing any link building then I should imagine that it would be relatively natural for your rankings to drop over time, particular if there are competitors who do do these things as they're naturally going to be working their way upwards with their efforts.

Two things I would like to point out:
Majority of pages have little or no content
Adsense ad is juxtaposed with the body content -
Thanks for your comments. I haven't really made any changes besides adding a bit of content. I don't do link building and have no idea where this link came from. Should I disavow it?
I don't have any notices and don't really track on other engines so I can't answer that.
Traffic and rankings have just been gradually declining over the last year. Today, I have about 50% of the traffic that I had a year ago.

I also second Keri. Have you made any on site changes? I see that there's a lot of dynamic commenting going on on your home page. Has this always been there, e.g. or has this grown and possibly diluted something? Is it all your rankings or just some?
As the other commenters have said, it's really difficult to give any feedback with so little info.
Regards
Dawn

I second Keri, you need to provide more details and background about your site and promotion strategies for us to be able to help you.

Is your traffic going down too?
Are your rankings going down in all of the engines, or just one?
Any reason why there are links to your site from a dating reviews site? http://www.datingsitecatalog.com/dyh-nwwy-90.htm
Has there been any link building? What type?
Are there any notices in Google or Bing Webmaster Tools?
Have all copyrights been respected? Are there any problems with using Hello Kitty, Power Rangers, etc. in the charts?

Is adding video to my homepage a ranking signal
Just had a lengthy chat with an SEO guy and one of the points bought up was that video on the homepage is a definite signal these days and the bots read the metas better than ever. I'm not sure about this, I do think that videos are a thing that improves the user experience but to rank? If it was to rank would I embed a YouTube video as its owned by Google, Vimeo for the quality or self-host but cause me to have a heavy page. I'm a bit lost here and would appreciate some guidance.

Homepage ranking above category page, but no keywords in there! Why?
So...we have a 5 year diary product page at TOAD diaries. It's had a lot of on page treatment: keyword in title, alt text, decent copy, pictures of the product etc. Find it here - http://www.toaddiaries.co.uk/shop/5-year-diary So we rank 22nd for 5 year diary, but google sends the customer to the home page! There no mention of 5 year diaries on there. Seems ridiculous! I can't help but think we should rank better for this as it's a low difficulty term (according to keyword difficulty tool on MOZ). Any thoughts on why this might be? Oh, Google HAS indexed the 5 year diary page. Used a search operator to check that first (thanks to you guys on here:) ) Thanks.

Panda 4.0 indirectly affecting my rankings (maybe)
Hi, So my site supplies Q&A type of content - user queries a question and generally they get the answer from my site (landing page). I always make sure my content is (1) unique (2) answers the question (3) extensive in answering the question - reason being I rely on social shares quite a bit and that system works very well, sharing happens with my content. But one of my main pages has dropped from position 5 to position 10 in the last few days - I assume its panda 4.0 because my rankings have been rock for around 2 years. But I don't think its dropped my site, I think it has boosted others above me. The thing I don't understand is the sites its boosted above me have very little content and in some cases lots of Adsense surrounding it. I'm not moaning just a bit confused: I have 750 words of good content, another sites comes out of nowhere with 50 words -> how can Google decide the 50 word site is better using the panda algo? This is me assuming the panda algo is purely content/copy based. Does it take other things into account such as freshness, layout, bounce rate? Thanks.

Do deep pages issues affect homepage chances of ranking?
Hello community, I have a general question: let's say you have some issues in deep pages, like duplicate pages without a canonical tag, or missing description or missing titles, etc.. Will these issues affect the chances of the homepage ranking if the homepage is optimized (no duplicates, canonical, good keywords volume, alt text, etc.) and has none of the issues present in deep pages within the site? Gracias.

If Two Internal Pages Rank for a Given Keyword, Are They Competing?
Let's say I'm a house painter working out of offices in Boston and Springfield. When I search for "Boston house painter" or "Massachusetts house painter," both my homepage and my Boston office page come up #8 and #9. That's good, sorta (2 results on first page), but I'd trade that scenario for a single result in the top 3. How likely is it that these two page are competing? If I removed the Boston page, would the homepage rank better? Or should I be happy I have two pages turning up the the first SERP? Any thoughts here appreciated. Thanks!

Different Rankings In Google Mobile
Does Google mobile have different signals? For some reason I seem to rank better with certain pages on the mobile site?

Why did our ranking go up, then drop down again?
Hello SEOMoz community. I work for a website that runs a collectibles news service and sells collectibles online. I recently renamed one of the pages from "Stock for Sale" to "Collectibles for Sale" anticipating this would help our ranking for the term "collectibles for sale". This changes the Title, URL and h1 to Collectible for Sale. A few days later we were up to 5th on Google UK for that keyword. But now after the weekend we've dropped off the face of the earth... Or at least somewhere low down in the rankings. I imagine there could be multiple reasons for this, but what are the most likely causes? There is not much text on the page, it contains an iFrame with image boxes that link to relevant collectibles categories. Website: www.paulfrasercollectibles.com

Should I include location in title tag to rank higher in local search
I'm working on a site for a small guest house (http://www.tommysonthebeach.com). I have created a Google Place page (Bing and Yahoo Local) as well and I have the address in the footer on every page. I have the location (Indian Rocks Beach) at the beginning of most titles tags because that is how people tend to search, e.g. "Indian Rocks Beach vacation rental." In theory I would think that I don't need location in the title tag because Google knows the location, and I could use the real estate for other keywords suchs as "pet friendly" or "beach hotel," etc. But when I look at the SERPS, those ranking highly all seem to have the location at the beginning of the title tag. Thanks. P.S. The site is currently not showing up in Google local search apparently because Google thinks it's a vacation rental agency, which are not allowed in local search. I'm trying to get that fixed.
