Is it possible to get high page ranking with no social media activity?
-
I'm curious to know how much social media effects the chances of being more highly ranked on Google.
I appreciate it's important to 'be seen' by Google, but if articles/newsletters are being written, does it really matter if a business isn't using Twitter or Facebook, etc?

If all things being equal between two sites, if one firm has social media, they will probably outrank the ones that doesn't. This creates a domino effect where more firms will adopt social media marketing to keep up. So as time increases, I can see it becoming more and more difficult to get ranked high for competitive keywords w/out social media.
For long-tails, I think you can rank high organically for many years/decades to come.

Yes you can, social media is an indicator signal, and only one of many factors that allow a site to rank well in SERP's. Furthermore, some industries are not necessarily socially inclined. I would say if your industry is generally socially active then you may miss a lot of customers simply by not participating, but that alone would not be a reason why you don't rank well.
Both Duane Forrester (Bing) and Matt Cutts (Google) have made it clear they do factor in social signals and can be quoted as saying "If you're not using Social Media, then you are missing out". That all said, my industry is not social adapt and while we plan on getting into the game, it is very low on our to-do list.
Hope that helps,

There's no doubt about it - you can rank sites on page 1 and number 1 on Google without any social media activity.
However, the strength of "social signals" increased a lot in the last year and there's every reason for it to do so this year.
Even if the social activity isn't some amazing, expensive strategy, you can do things little by little. And as they say, every little helps.

How to regain Facebook Page Authority - For page badly affected with spam users
Case- company Facebook page has more than 10K users and almost 50% are spam. When this happens, edge rank of the page is badly affected (because spam users are not interested in your shared content so they hide you/remove you from feed and of course never engage). Not to mention Facebook released an update end of 2014 where page will have less visibility anyway compared to user updates. Overall the Page updates get very less exposure / impressions Now only solution is to remove this huge no of spam users one by one or by an API. Question - Does removing the spam users regain the authority of the page ? Does that solve the overall issue ? What are the other solution to fix the situation ? Thanks.

Value in content from website being shared across social media?
If I write content (small career advice quotes) on my website and I distribute across Twitter and FB I assume my site will get the full credit (from an SEO perspective) since that is where the content was originally uploaded. However, will I still get SEO credit for being active on social media, or will Google view it as duplicate content and evaluate that I am not active on social media? thank you

Any facebook likes/shares/activities analytics tools
From time to time I take a look at competitors' website and the activities on their social media channel like facebook. There are many times that their facebook likes increase much faster/more than we do while I havenot been able to figure out why they get likes much more that we do. Compared with the competitors we have very similar activities: uploading content to facebook daily and have competition every week and answer every question about our services and have faq session sometime I think our content/information are even more valuable than our competitors. I think they are possibly doing something more value-added to be able to target more people? Is that any tools that I can use to get any insight? e.g. some activities that I am not able to see? Have done some research for last few weeks but I did not manage to findout. Thanks

How are Google Plus pages related to Google Plus Local pages?
How are Google Plus pages related to Google Plus Local pages and what is the best way to join/link them? e.g. if I go to Starbucks Google Plus page https://plus.google.com/117575809843355974839/posts, where can I see their store locations or google Places pages? If I go to a Google Places page from Google Maps - which now takes you to a Google Plus 'Places' page - how is that Google Plus Places page related to that companies main Google Plus page - I can't see a way to go between them. See: https://plus.google.com/117861970252906134982/about?gl=au&hl=en Is there a way to connect these two kinds of pages for a business?
