There is no formula of winning!
I am working for a real estate industry and can tell you the fact that quality of content impact the most when it comes to rankings for long tail keywords. I think a content between 500 to 1500 words are fine but if you are going to make it too long without any good level of interaction for readers (i.e images and videos) then i personally don't think it will help you increase rankings and traffic.

Hi Joel,
Since I'm not in the real estate business nor does my business rely on local traffic or business, nor have I been a "local SEO" I feel poorly qualified to answer this question. However, I can tell you this: I moved here in September 2011 and I needed to find a place to live, fast.
One of the top two local real estate companies that kep coming up in searches was this one: http://www.rants-group.com/default.htm The other one was this one: http://www.hometownpm.com/ However, I should throw in this caveat, the pages that I landed on and that I continue to visit are the "home rentals
pages here: thttp://www.rants-group.com/residential_rent/res_rent_page_houses.htm and here: http://www.hometownpm.com/rentals.htmlPerhaps by studying those two sites it might help you a little? I don't think either one of them have any significant SEO yet those are the top two that I used to help me find a nd rent a house when I moved.

No problem, Thanks again for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

No, I don't pay any attention to RE. Sorry.

Thank you for your response. What is the ideal home page structure for a local Real Estate Site?
Do you know of any realtors that are doing their on page seo correctly?
-
Thank you for your reply. I am trying to find a balance between Words, Pictures and Video. Obviously the search engines like worded content, but Pictures Speak a thousand words and Video is even better in some aspects. Do you know of any sites that are in the service industry like Real Estate that strike a good balance?

Hi Joel,
I don't think there's a hard and fast rule here. The length entirely depends on the subject matter and your audience. If your page is a product page on an e-commerce site and the product is a microphone clip, 2000 words would be silly. If your page is a blog post targeted towards audio-video professionals and is about how to mic specific instruments in specific situations, 2000 words might be too short.
Remember when you were in school and you inevitable got that professor who answered your question of "how long should my paper be?" and they answered "As long as it needs to be to express your point.." ? It's like that.
Good luck Joel!

I had about 50 pages with about 15 words and a great image and they ranked on the second page of google and they pulled a little traffic.
I improved them to a couple hundred words and their rankings went up and they pulled even more traffic.
I have been improving them more to 500 to 2000 words with several great images and now they are ranking near the top of the first page of google and the long tail traffic that they pull in has increased by 10x.
I don't think that there is a minimum or maximum number of words. However, the more words you use the greater your long tail traffic. And, more important, the higher quality of your content the more popular your pages will become and that will propel them to better rankings.
The problem with minimum content is that my 15 original words could today be considered thin content and subject to panda problems.

Will Google Judge Duplicate Content on Responsive Pages to be Keyword Spamming?
I have a website for my small business, and hope to improve the search results position for 5 landing pages. I recently modified my website to make it responsive (mobile friendly). I was not able to use Bootstrap; the layout of the pages is a bit unusual and doesn't lend itself to the options Bootstrap provides. Each landing page has 3 main div's - one for desktop, one for tablet, one for phone.
Web Design | | CurtisB
The text content displayed in each div is the same. Only one of the 3 div’s is visible; the user’s screen width determines which div is visible. When I wrote the HTML for the page, I didn't want each div to have identical text. I worried that
when Google indexed the page it would see the same text 3 times, and would conclude that keyword spamming was occurring. So I put the text in just one div. And when the page loads jQuery copies the text from the first div to the other two div's. But now I've learned that when Google indexes a page it looks at both the page that is served AND the page that is rendered. And in my case the page that is rendered - after it loads and the jQuery code is executed – contains duplicate text content in three div's. So perhaps my approach - having the served page contain just one div with text content – fails to help, because Google examines the rendered page, which has duplicate text content in three div's. Here is the layout of one landing page, as served by the server. 1000 words of text goes here. No text. jQuery will copy the text from div id="desktop" into here. No text. jQuery will copy the text from div id="desktop" into here. ===================================================================================== My question is: Will Google conclude that keyword spamming is occurring because of the duplicate content the rendered page contains, or will it realize that only one of the div's is visible at a time, and the duplicate content is there only to achieve a responsive design? Thank you!0 -
HELP! IE secure page display issue on new live site
For some reason IE 7, 8, & 9 do not display the following page: https://www.jwsuretybonds.com/protools.htm All they show is the Norton seal. It shows properly in all other browsers without issue (including IE 10+), but the earlier versions flash the page for a split second, then hides everything. Can someone shed some light on this? This is a new live site we just launched minutes ago and these browsers account for 12% of our overall traffic. UGH I hate you microsoft!!! Thanks all 🙂

Major home page change!
Hi Mozzers, Making a major homepage change on my site Orangeoctop.us. I am going from featuring content to featuring products, similar to how moz and hubspot feature their content on the homepage. Just to give you some numbers, the homepage only sees 2.6% of the total traffic and of that traffic half is direct. The homepage is going to be changed to OrangeOctop.us/guides. My Question: Is there anything that should be added to the homepage to ensure that I keep the same domain authority/page authority?

Post vs Pages
Does Google make any distinction between a web page and a blog post? Assuming all else is equal...any reason why a page would rank higher than a post? And that includes a page in WordPress vs a WordPress blog post.

Joomla ( title page override not working properly ) any techy guys out there
Hey Mozzers I am having some problems with joomla. I have tried many support forums and since everyone is in the same field as me, i thought this would be a great place to ask this question. I am working with joomla 2.5 and After i have turn on my search engine friendly configuration, you can override the ( alias ) of the page by providing page display options for title tag. so i turned on the SEF in global config and turn on the mod-rewrite and made sure my htaccess file was not txt. But i am having some problems with this.
Web Design | | BizDetox
On some pages the page display option for the _browser page title _works and on some it does. On the pages it doesnt it is pulling the information of the Alias. ( which is common with most site )
Why is it doing this You can check out the pages yourself Here is a page with it not working
http://tungstengem.com/mens-wedding-bands and here is a page with it working
http://tungstengem.com/mens-wedding-...-bands-for-men Also for my homepage when i didnt have my Apach rewrite it show the index.php and i was able to ad an alias to it. Now the Alias for the home page is not working0 -
Order of my products on page?
Hi, I read somewhere that Google reads a page in a certain way. All my product pages are listed (or most of them) in Alphabetical order. Now say I am targeting brands named Cruyff and Money Clothing, should I put all the Cruyff and Money products above everything else? See here for example... http://www.designerboutique-online.com/jackets/ They are in Alph order, except the sales items at the bottom. So would it be beneficial to do this? To put my targeted brands at the top of the page? And if not, is there anything I should be doing with the layout of the products to improve/help with SEO? Thanks Will
