Any ideas to boost rankings for a ticket website?
-
Hello,
I have a ticket website: http://www.TicketTrail.com and I am looking for advice for better SEO for the website. I know its tough because there are so many sites out there like this but wanted to get some opinions. I have done little things here and there and are starting to see a couple of keywords come up but I am trying to get my inner pages ranked so I can come up for long tail keywords based on an actually game or event that is happening.
Any suggestions would be great. I have 4 friends that work for me that will do anything to promote the site.
Thanks

Hi John,
A ticketing website seems like an ideal niche to generate some great content directly from your customers. Offer them the ability to rate past shows/events, share what they are going to, discuss artists/sporting teams etc. This will not only deliver A LOT of unique, relevant content to your site, it will encourage users to become part of the 'Ticket Trail Community'.
This will make the site rank better, and it will become more 'sticky' - in that users will want to regularly visit to interact with others with similar tastes. A win win in my eyes.
Thanks,
Brad -
Theres a 1000 bullet points that could follow but heres a few important ones:
-
Stop keyword stuffing in your content e.g. here http://www.tickettrail.com/performer/madonna-tickets.aspx. You've overdone 'madonna tickets' to say the least.
-
You have no h1 on the performer pages.
-
There is little content, you need to write more descriptively and for the user not search engines.
-
Be more focussed on the keywords, you're right theres lots of ticket sites. You are a long way from competing with them for terms like 'madonna tickets'. Things like 'tickets for madonna paris' you have more chance of ranking for and its more targeted.
-
Your url structure could be improved e.g. http://www.tickettrail.com/tickets/stadio-giuseppe-meazza/06_14_2012_800_pm/madonna-tickets.aspx is 4 sub folders deep - which could make those pages appear really unimportant, something like /maddonna-tickets-rome-14th-june would be better.
-
These pages could also attract really targeted visitors if for example you optimised it for 'madonna tickets rome 14th june'.
-
You've got some weird stuff going on in your code. Look at line 25 in your source code for the madonna tickets page!

Will YouTube Popularity Improve Website Google Rank?
Our YouTube Channel was endorsed by a celebrity and suddenly gained 22,000 subscribers. We are now posting videos 2-3 times a week and get a lot of engagement. Each video has an average of 10,000 views. The result of this is that we get about 200 direct visits to our website every. Almost twice as much as organic traffic from Google. Assuming that this is sustained over time, will it improve the Google of our website? Is there anyway to use the popularity of our Google channel to reinforce the ranking of our website? Thanks!!

Add Tracking Parameters to Website Links on Facebook/Twitter
does anyone know of a way to add tracking parameters to facebook/twitter website links in the about us section so that we can understand what traffic is specifically coming from that page? I already add tracking to posts, but I am more trying to track each standard link on these social channels. I am currently running into character limits or the result looks like a long url that will most certainly deter clicks because it looks suspicious.

Anyone seen REAL proof that White Hat & Social Signals leads to rankings ?
Trying to be a good, clean SEO, I have been spending the last two and a half years focusing a lot on building up solid social communities on Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest and YouTube. Back when I began doing this, I believed that old school link-building was on its way out, and that, to stay on the 'clean', White Hat side of Google, social was the way to go for future success in organic search. But my main competitor is STILL buying links left and right, and has absolutely no social media following...and he's kicking my butt more and more in the rankings. And I seem to be losing out with my strategy. So I would really like to know: have any of you experienced proof, first hand, that you can win with SEO by focusing on social signals, and by letting NATURAL, earned links pretty much take care of themselves, by trying to create good content? Because I am FRUSTRATED. I thought I was being one of the good guys. I thought I was going the safer, risk-free way to success. And I knew it would take me longer to become successful this way...but it's been YEARS now, and I still don't see any signs of it happening any time soon !

Should you have both google authorship & publisher set up on a website?
I have read that its a good idea to have both rel=author & rel= publisher set up on a website If so What is the best way to set it up to where rel=author and rel=publisher appear in your website source code? I use wordpress genesis site and have the Yoast seo plugin **In the user profile section on WP there is an area to enter google Authorship link **In the Yoast dashboard there is a place to enter google publisher link. When I check my source code…….I see rel=publisher only on the home page, however ALL my other WordPress Pages and Posts have rel=author. Does that sound correct?
