How come my stories end up on bbc news
-
Hi, i get a load of traffic from the bbc news website but not sure how this happens.
For example we had a story the other day and according to my reports the traffic was coming from this page. http://www.bbc.co.uk//news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-21232826
but when i checked today to see the page i can see nothing about our story. BBC news has been really good to us for feeding us traffic but i am not sure how this happens as if i did then i would try and get all our stories seen by them.
Any help would be great in understanding how bbc news is picking up our stories
-
thanks for that, i will do on both accounts. Do not get me wrong it is nice to get the traffic from them, just strange that i do not understand how it happens

It maybe that they are adding your website under the article in the 'related internet links' section. Set up a Google Alert and you will get emailed when links appear on the website; then you might be able to locate them.

i have tried looking in the source code but nothing there but i did not check on the day. I was not aware they have different stories on their site but what i have noticed is, it happens alot.

Okay, then when you check for your URL on the page how are you doing that? Do you search for your URL in the source code? It would be good to locate exactly where on the page the URL is placed and from there you will have a better idea of how it's getting put there, or rather where to investigate next! The link might not be obvious on the front page, it could be an image link etc.

Hi, i do not do any paid for advertising so it will not be that
-
Yes, I had that thought too. Davinia makes a good point.
-
Are you running Adwords?Could be paid advertising on BBC news website that is pushing traffic to your site.
In your traffic report have a look for that URL and filter by a secondary dimension of 'medium'. This will tell you if it is referral traffic or paid advertising. If it is referral then there is (or was) a link to your website on that page. If it is ppc (paid) then it is the Google Ads.

Wow! Diane, I am sure there are a lot of SEOs dying to know your secret to this one? Myself included.
Is it possible that you are producing an RSS feed of your content that the BBC News is picking up and then including in their RSS feed? Just a thought.
Here's an example: http://feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/rss.xml?edition=uk

Which URL do I request Google News inclusion for: the http or the non-http?
In Google WMT/Search Console, I've marked the non-www. version of my site as the preferred. But I haven't run into a choice between http:// and non-http:// before. Should I choose the one listed at the top, which is the non-http (AND the non-www) version? Thanks! Unknown.png

Compare to Front End view source contain more tageting keywords any impact on seo?
Hi All, I am using chrome browser and in my category page when i search my keyword like example Acer Laptop it is showing me 40 searches for that keyword in front end while in view source it is showing 100. Now for same category of my competitor page when i search Acer Laptop it shows 20 searches in front end and 300 in view source. So my question is - Is it a good practice I have seen my competitor page he is using tab button where lot of geunine content is there that is the reason hiss view source keyword search is more. So will it impact on seo?

Google News Sitemap
Currently for our website Thinkdigit, we are using a rss sitemap (http://www.thinkdigit.com/google_sitemap/news_rss.php) for news. Please let me know is this the right format or we should use xml format only. Also we have lost a huge chunk of traffic from news search, Previously it used to be around 10,000 visit from google news, now it is just 300 visit per day.

Domain stuck at end of SERPs for main keywords
I'm trying to figure out why a site has been stuck at the end of the SERPs for almost a year. On August 5, 2011 the site went from getting 1,400 visits per day from Google down to 20 visits a day from Google. For the keywords it ranked on the first page for it went to the last page in the SERPs. With Panda and Penguin, it probably wouldn't rank like it used to, but it seems to be stuck in some sort of domain wide penalty that pins it to the end of the SERPs. Even when completely new content will show up at the end of the SERPs, which makes me think it's stuck in some sort of filter. Thanks in advance for any constructive ideas. Odd backlinks from yahoo news
Can anyone explain what this backlink does? The original content was syndicated on Yahoo News from Mashable. At first glance it appears to be a straight up follow link from Yahoo to Mashable, but upon closer inspection I saw this in the code. went public just three months ago Here's the article on yahoo news: http://news.yahoo.com/facebook-zynga-generates-12-revenue-them-175509319.html I've rarely seen backlinks from yahoo for any content partner let alone follow links. The us.lrd.yahoo.com in the hyperlink makes me highly suspicious.

Is it ok to just use the end of the url when using a Rel Cononical Link?
Hi, I am working with an account and the previous SEO used a Rel Canonical link that just uses the end of the url. Instead of the full url When I look it up on the web I see most people are using the full url. Is that the proper way to do it or does is suffice to just use the end of the url? Wanted to check before I take the time to change them all. -Kent
