One hosting plan for multiple websites?
-
I use one Godaddy shared Linux hosting account for 4 separate websites. In Google Webamster Tools, specifally "Sitr Errors," I noticed that inner pages from another site are being listed as a broken link in the original unique-now-shared site. I checked and the files are not mi-installed. My question is, should each of the four sites have a unique hosting plan and/or static IP?
Thanks,
Eric

As you probably know, the shared sites are set up as sub folders within the main site. You need to make sure that Google sees these sub folders only through their respective domain names, and does not see them as sub folders within the main domain. Otherwise, Google will think the pages are duplicates. You can control this in your robots.txt file of the main domain (i.e. instruct Google not to look at those sub folders when crawling the main site).
Best,
Christopher

Will putting a one page site up for all other countries stop Googlebot from crawling my UK website?
I have a client that only wants UK users to be able to purchase from the UK site. Currently, there are customers from the US and other countries purchasing from the UK site. They want to have a single webpage that is displayed to users trying to access the UK site that are outside the UK. This is fine but what impact would this have on Google bots trying to crawl the UK website? I have scoured the web for an answer but can't find one. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙂

Satellite Website Dilemma - Hosted in House or Elsewhere? Blog or Actual Shop?
Hi All, I have recently noticed a LOT of websites appearing in some of the SERP (example http://goo.gl/UyHZp6) that have an exact match domain (or as near as) and are either thin blogs that have a splash of content, and then link back to Amazon, competitor A competitor B etc. or an online secondary shop. Getting tired of this I have purchased a couple of exact match domains of my own, but am unsure of the best way to tackle this with long term gains in mind. The exact match domains I have are the .co.uk and com versions of these: http://goo.gl/xrjY7Z http://goo.gl/Mg0XBl The ideal scenario for me would be to create the satellite website as a functioning shop specialising in just a small group of specialist products (10 - 12) from a subcategory of the main site. My main store has 1200 + items and this will make the user experience better as I feel as it will make navigation easier, allow for more information to be present without confusing things. It would also allow the customer to feel safe knowing they are buying from a specialist. However I have the following in mind: My ecommerce software open cart supports multi store from the same database, this is great and makes management massively easy. It would allow me to brand the satellite store up as specialist store yet manage all orders through one admin portal. The sites would have separate IP addresses, but I am worried about the site being on the same server as the main site, and sharing whois info etc. Would google think of this as spamming the results? There will be no shared content, and I do not intend to interlink the sites for fear of them looking like a link network. The other option is to take out some cheap hosting and start building content on a blog similar to this: http://goo.gl/sBB3wY I hate this however as it just seems spammy and as a consumer it annoys me when I find this. What are your thoughts on how to deal with this?

quick question, I have set up my second website purely for seasonal stock so getting it online early ready for when the time is right. But i only have a single web master tools & ad words account, would there be any problem with the single accounts having the details for both websites? or would it be wise to have separate accounts for each site?

How to attach at text to image that other websites use from my website
I often have other websites link to my website. They will do this with an image that they pull off of my website. (actually my website continues to serve the image). These inbound links are great, but they don't have alt text. Is there a way for me to attach alt text to the images, or is this something the other website needs to code themselves?

Multiple domain names with similar content
Hi, we've got multiple domains that point to the same website and same content. The only difference is the currency and some text, you could say only about 5% difference in each domain's content: http://www.redwrappings.com.au/
Technical SEO | | Essentia
http://www.redwrappings.com/ Will Google penalise us for having 95% similar content for each domain (they sell the same products but in different currencies)? We shoudn't really put canonical link, should we? Because 5% of the content is different, which means they are not identical. What would be the best solution if this is a problem? Thanks0
