Link analysis: no-follow from slideshare
-
I noticed when doing link analysis that for some competitors the backlink from slideshare is recorded with a 'no-follow' beside the link. Other sites analyzed don't show a backlink from slideshare despite having this link in their slideshare pages.
Is the no-follow resulting in the backlink getting recorded to improve domain authority but not SEO authority?

I see in my slide page, the link I paste on Description box is same as general text. And I see link I paste on Slide. What is backlinks?

Glad that helped, Abdallah. Do remember, just because a third-party tool hasn't indexed the link doesn't mean that the search engines themselves aren't aware of them and using them for ranking. The search engines have far more budget and technology available for their crawlers than pretty much any third-party tool could.
For an interesting comparison, use the Link Explorer tool built into Bing's Webmaster Tools to compare to what you find in the third party tools. The benefit of this tool over the one in Google Webmaster Tools is that it will allow yo look at link profiles from other site too, not just your own. (Do not though that even Bing doesn't promise to show you every link out there.
That said though, there's nothing wrong with building a few good links to your Slideshare page to help it along as well.
Glad you feel you got your question answered. Would be great if you could mark which answers you found helpful as "good answers" to help others who might also come across this question.

I think the 'no-follow' comment was confusing in my question. I was trying to figure out why some sites were getting linked back from slideshare pages while others didn't despite having the link on their website. I think the answer is that those page getting linked back are getting crawled more often by google. So I will need to work on this! Thanks again for taking the time to answer

Thanks for replying. It makes complete sense. I had originally assumed that a page on slideshare would be consistently crawled but obviously it needs to still have fresh content and good links going back to it. Both of these items I will be working on!

What you're most likely seeing here, Influitive, is just the fact that the SEOMoz crawler (or whatever other tool you're using) hasn't crawled (and will never be able to) absolutely every page on the web. It may just be that the tool's crawler simply hasn't gotten to the other SlideShare pages yet to index those other competitors' links.
Make sense?

To be honest with you, your question is not really clear but if you are asking about no-follow links… link analysis tool will show you the link with a no follow tag. This tag indicates Google that the link is not going to pass any juice value. In this way you can say that link will direct people from that website to your website but in terms of SEO there will be no credit of that link which help you in improving your SERP and all…

Value of Links? What is each link worth?
Morning Everyone, I just had this thought and wondered what everyone's opinions were in terms of link value in monetary terms. We'll assume for the purposes of this that the links come from contextually relevant sites and that the sites in question have got the Moz DA from being high quality and have a good quality incoming link profile. Its a bit of a theoretical question, but i guess imagine if the only way you could get links was to pay for them, what would they be worth to you. This is link value for SEO purposes, they will have in addition value from traffic from good sites, that no doubt varies wildly depending on topic. I assume everyone also agrees on: The first link from a domain is the most valuable High DA sites are worth more than low ones. So could anyone who has an opinion on the link value suggest a monetary value for links. Its really just using a monetary amount to see how best to target my time. Here is my example of what might be expected, but I am hoping people with more knowledge will perhaps correct it. DA Rating First Link 2nd-5th Link 5th-10th Link 10Plus Links 5 $5 $2 $1 $0 15 $7 $3 $2 $1 25 $25 $10 $5 $2 35 $45 $20 $7 $3 45 $65 $30 $11 $4 55 $95 $45 $19 $5 65 $200 $100 $45 $6 75 $350 $120 $65 $9 85 $700 $240 $95 $15 95 $1100 $450 $200 $30

Back link from site with DA of 72 to a website domain. Clicking on the link redirects to our website not the attended one.
Hi,
Link Building | | JIMBO16
I've ran a back link check and discovered a good back link to a site which then gets redirected back to my company's website. I have a feeling that an old SEO agency has purchased a small website which has a decent link back from a relevant organisation with a high Domain authority and then redirects the domain to our website to get the link juice. What are your thought on this? Is this really bad practise and possibly damaging? Thanks, Jim0 -
Why am I getting links in my link report from sites that no longer exist?
So, I have a link report from Link Detox. And I'm going through all of them and considering what sites need to be removed. and trying to find emails and contact webmasters. There is just one odd thing i'm starting to see more of. A lot of links are on websites or webpages that no longer exist. The link no longer exists. Some of the domains are even available for purchase. Why are these links showing on the backlink report and are they really harming my website? Also, do I need to add these links into the disavow document that I will submit to Google?

Link Pharming
My company has been using an SEO company for a while and have built up our pagerank to a 6. However, we have noticed that they're involved in link pharming - they're buildng extra websites and linking to our site on them. We are not happy with this as we know it will only be a matter of time before Penguin hits us. The contract with the SEO company is coming up for renewal soon and we're thinking of cancelling it. However, we are not sure if the company will delete all our backlinks, which will probably decrease our PageRank too. Has anyone here ever had a similar experience? What did the SEO company do when you cancelled the contract? Does anyone here work for an SEO company and what do you do when someone cancels your service?

Great idea to get back links in short order; however the links would be unrelated. . Is it worth the effort . BTW, it's a white hat method. Should I proceed?
I have come up with a very creative way to get some great back links using white hat methods. The problem is that the back links to the site would be to an interior page or external promotional website which then have links back to the main website. What kind of value for the main domain would this potentially achieve. What are peopLes thoughts on this idea?

Links on the same keyword
When is linking from one particular keyword to much. At what point could link building from one keyword be considered spam and potentially delist a site ? Is it possible for a site to be delisted for having to many links from the same keyword ? Heard linking from the website name is more important following recent changes. I try and link from a selection of 3 to 4 keywords. Thanks for your help

Different Link Titles Linking to the same page
So I'm doing a lot of link building but my question is how do search engines treat different link titles to the same page. For example, my main page is www.musillawfirm.com If I have 20 links from 20 sites linking to it as Melbourne FL DUI Lawyer and 20 more linking as Melbourne FL immigration Lawyer and More linking as Cocoa FL DUI lawyer etc... what happens? Do the search engines just rank me higher for all the terms or would it be better to always just link to separate landing pages? Thanks in advance

Follow or Nofollow outbound links to resourceful, related site?
As I am going through and redeveloping a website, I am trying to add some external links to resourceful information regarding this page. Should I put a nofollow or follow attribute on these? I am only putting 1-5 links per page to associations and other organizations that would be beneficial to the visitor. I am worried about the number of outbound links causing me to get penalized. Ideas?
