I'm a bit surprised there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on their already on SEOMoz, so I'd appreciate any insight into this for a client of mine who is a currently a startup

There are lots of options from massive brand names like Google and Amazon right down to countless services I've never heard before.

For a smaller start-up with a technical edge. specifically service subscriptions for the webcam / video camera type of market, what would be an effective and cost friendly options to explore? Any shared experience is very appreciated.

Affiliate links and parameters creating duplicate page titles

Hi, we have an affiliate system and use rel=**canonical **to canonicalise them to the right link. Still, we see those links creating duplicate page titles, in Moz crawl and in Google search console. How are we supposed to treat those links so they do not create duplicate content? Thanks for your help!

Affiliate site

I have a client I am doing SEO work for. He sells a system that helps people win at video keno. He sells a system for like $200 that shows people step by step how to play and win. Its a good site and he has a ton of verified winnings. My point in saying that, its not a fly-by-night system he wrote in his basement. I know - gambling, not easy for SEO. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. Wouldn't this potentially be perfect for affiliate marketing? He offers a good commission to whoever sends him traffic if they buy. If anybody could direct me to a resource or two that is reputable and would handle as much of the set up and management of this I would be very grateful! Thank you! Matthew

What is the negative effect of getting affiliate links to your domain?

Are the negative effects of affiliate links to your domain bigger than the positive effects? Is it better to use a subdomain for your affiliate campaigns? (Because of linkprofile no follow links or time on page effects?) Thanks for responce!

Affiliate code in urls? affiliate link landing pages?

Is it considered a good or bad practice to have the affiliate code present in your affiliate link url's ? (as opposed to disguising them with something like phpbay) Does the general public not scour the hover-over url's of links they click? Also, is there any way of keeping customers on site when they click affiliate links? (via frames or something more modern) Or is that frowned upon by advertisers?

Track orders from different affiliate platforms.

Hi there, I have an online shop and I want to sell my products trough various affiliate platforms. How can I track from wich platform a sale is made so I don't have to pay all the affiliates? Affiliate links and Panda

Hello all, my question relates to the recent panda changes and the subsequent impact on pages with affiliate links. I have a hub of pages on my website talking about parcel delivery. Each page has unique, quality content and up until about 3 weeks ago they were starting to achieve strong rankings. We then decided to add some affiliate links (just 3) on each of the 5 parcel related pages we have. The rankings for each of these pages have tanked completely; rather than top 20, we're now outside of the top 100 for all of them. When we noticed this we masked the link, changing it to domain.com/index/affiliate; we also no followed the link. Alas this has had minimal effect in restoring the rankings. What i'm now thinking of doing is removing the affiliate links from the parcel landing pages altogether and instead providing users with a no followed link to another page within the site upon which we would have the affiliate links. This page would also be no indexed as well. My question is: Is this a good idea and if so will it restore my previous rankings over time, or have those pages (as a result of the affiliate links) been permanently down graded?? Any assistance would be gratefully received!

My datafeed powered affiliate websites die after 3 weeks

Ok, so I've been trying something new lately: There are tons of datafeeds from webshops available on all the major affiliate networks. We thought it might be a nice idea to implement these datafeeds into your own little 'whitelabel' webshop with the power of Wordpress and a couple of plugins that help automate this process. So what we've did is this: Get a domain that is relative to the shop or products we're promoting. Install Wordpress with a plugin that enables you to import the datafeed for those products from 1 or more webshops on the affiliate networks. Each product gets an unique text by an article spinner of about a thousand words. The text on each product page is about 85% different than the others because of a massive synonym list. But each text makes perfect sense and is perfectly readable by humans. We let the system add about 20-30 pages per day so we're not flooding Google with hundreds or thousands of new pages per day because that would lead to a direct penalty. The sites look good, unique and look not much different than your average comparison site. They also have privacy policy's, contact information, newsletter subscription, sitemap, about us and all that stuff. We have masked the affiliate links because I know a lot of affiliate links might ring the alarm at Google. So overall these sites are pretty solid and look good (enough). But here is the problem: We have tried 5 of those sites so far and every time the same thing happens: the site gets indexed, gets some visitors, then quickly builds to about 20-30 visitors a day in 2-4 weeks and then BAM, it's over. Google drops the bomb on us. The sites do not get banned from the index, but they just drop a couple of hundred positions to where they don't get any traffic at all anymore. Every single time this has happened and only in 1 occasion the site "rose from the death" and came back again, but we do not know for how long this will last. So, do you have any idea what the cause of this might be? There is only one thing left I can think of and that's the age of the domain. They were all newly registered, but still, it's weird that they do work for a while and then get dropped. 2 examples of my sites are: http://www.veromodashoponline.nl and http://www.converseonline.nl (sites are in Dutch). Please help!

Affilate Programs on Subdomains

Hello SEO Community! We are launching an affiliate program and for CMS flexibility the preferred, development solution, is putting the affiliate program on a subdomain. Financial incentive affiliate programs "don't pass link value." Lets pretend they do for this situation 🙂 Here is the example: company website= example.com affilate website= affiliate.example.com Proposed affilate program: affilate.example.com/12345 -->301 redirects --> example.com There are multiple business services so sometimes the 301 redirect looks like this: affilate.example.com/23457 -->301 redirects ---> example.com/busines-service-foo affilate.example.com/23457 -->301 redirects ---> example.com/busines-service-bar note: The business services provided are very different. As a result, these links will be placed on very different types of website. To keep contextually relevant links in the 301 redirect should the affiliate look like this?: affilate.example.com/busines-service-foo/23457 -->301 redirects ---> example.com/busines-service-foo affilate.example.com/busines-service-bar/23457 -->301 redirects ---> example.com/busines-service-bar Thanks in advance for your feedback! If anyone can point me in the direction of an ideal way to set up affiliate programs that would be great. Especially regarding: canonical tag, # in url, 301 Any arguments about keeping the the affiliate off a subdomain are also very welcome. Thanks!
