Schema.org for a rental site with more than one apartment per address
-
I am looking for advices on how to best start adopting schema.org for an apartment rental site with more than one apartment per address.
I would like to get feedback and suggestions on my initial thoughts.
Here are the obvious ones:
- http://schema.org/Place for the address of the building an apartment is in.
- http://schema.org/ApartmentComplex for the unique page for each apartment.
Any thoughts or experiences you would like to share?
Thanks,
Adrien O'Leary

Schema helps a lot to set up and arrange the visual view data of the website. I have applied it to my Irwell Hill project.

Hi guys, Im working for a SaaA site that contain flatshare ads, would you let me know which schema would apply better?
Thanks

Kane, your link helped. Especially because it got me to discover http://www.productontology.org/!

I'm not familiar with it. Some decent info on it at http://semanticweb.com/schema-org-adds-additional-type-property_b30861, but not sure if that's helpful.
-
Kane, I appreciate the feedback and I know realize that there are no specific properties for Residence or AppartmentComplex. One question about additionalType. Any input on finding the right RDFa syntax for that property?
-
So, those are attributes for Things and then Places (a subset of Things). Because of that, they apply to subcategories. The current Schema.org structure apparently does not add any new attributes for Residences or Apartment Complexes. Obviously that may not be right, but I've seen this in other Schema.org categories that are missing attributes that would make sense to have.

Hi Kane, I appreciate the answer.
One additional question. Why are the properties listed at http://schema.org/Residence the same than the ones listed at http://schema.org/ApartmentComplex (while the latest one is a some kind of sub-type of the first one)?
Thanks,
Adrien O'Leary

http://schema.org/ApartmentComplex is going to be the correct formatting to use. That includes an implicit relationship to the Place markup based upon containedIn.
The number of apartments/suites/etc won't affect the Schema markup, as long as everything is on the same street number (e.g. 1234 Oak St).
However if the complex contains multiple buildings with separated street numbers (e.g. 1234 Oak St as well as 1237 Oak St) then that may affect your approach. In that event I'd probably choose the building that the rental office is located in (assuming that's onsite), and this is also going to have to match the address you're using for all of your citations across the internet.

Reducing number of site pages?
Hi, I am looking through my site structure and I have a lot of pages left over from the days of article keywords. Probably 7 or 8 years ago, someone sold my husband on article key word pages. I have slowly gotten rid of a lot of them as they have fallen out out of the ranks. I would like to get rid of the rest, probably 5 or 6 pages. Will it hurt my rankings to delete pages and redirect them? My customers really like the simplicity of our site and I want to keep it that way, plus clean up flags that Moz is telling me is a problem. I think its easier to keep less pages top notch than have to worry with a lot of them. Especially since my customers aren't viewing them. Thanks in advance!

SEO audit on a beta site
HI there, Is there much point conducting an SEO site audit on a site that has not yet launched and is protected behind a login? Presumably none of the usual SEO tools (Moz, Screaming Frog etc) can crawl this site becuase it is all locked behind a login. Would it be better to launch it and then do a site audit? Thanks

Multilingual site with untranslated content
We are developing a site that will have several languages. There will be several thousand pages, the default language will be English. Several sections of the site will not be translated at first, so the main content will be in English but navigation/boilerplate will be translated. We have hreflang alternate tags set up for each individual page pointing to each of the other languages, eg in the English version we have: etc In the spanish version, we would point to the french version and the english version etc. My question is, is this sufficient to avoid a duplicate content penalty for google for the untranslated pages? I am aware that from a user perspective, having untranslated content is bad, but in this case it is unavoidable at first.

Duplicate content on partner site
I have a trade partner who will be using some of our content on their site. What's the best way to prevent any duplicate content issues? Their plan is to attribute the content to us using rel=author tagging. Would this be sufficient or should I request that they do something else too? Thanks

Moving a site from .cfm to Wordpress - How to keep the authority?
Hi guys, My client has a site built with Cold Fusion (web pages end in .cfm) and we're moving them over to Wordpress (for many reasons), keeping the same menu structure and navigation. Their previous SEO company was pretty awful, however, they did manage to establish some decent authority/backlinks for the website and its 20 or so pages. My questions: I assume I'll want to do 301 redirects for each page, possibly by editing the .htaccess file? Any advice on this? Anything else I need to consider in this move? Thanks!

One site with one product or multi product website
Lets suppose that i have 10 NICHE products under me. Should i make one site for each product or one site overall. If i make 1 site for each product i get several advantages Domain name has keyword Title tags etc will be dedicated to one keyword only. Disavantage - Backlinking for each domain will become tougher. Advantage of one site onl Good management Seo / backlinks becomes easier Blogging to attract traffic becomes easier Can target a lot of keywords through business blogging Disadvantages Can become messy with unimportant keywords gaining importance. SO WHAT DO YOU THINK??? One site per product or One site for all products?

Best practice for franchise sites with duplicated content
I know that duplicated content is a touchy subject but I work with multiple franchise groups and each franchisee wants their own site, however, almost all of the sites use the same content. I want to make sure that Google sees each one of these sites as unique sites and does not penalize them for the following issues. All sites are hosted on the same server therefor the same IP address All sites use generally the same content across their product pages (which are very very important pages) *templated content approved by corporate Almost all sites have the same design (A few of the groups we work with have multiple design options) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Again Aaron
