Static Html Pages V/s Wordpress - For open content pages?
-
Hi there.
I am worried a bit about static html pages or wordpress as an instance to write down open page content for our website.
We are a product based website - primarily Saas based product. But with time we have seen that if we write more content people will be able to find us better,.
Earlier our blog resided on blog.example.com now we are moving it to example.com/blog/
Issues - I really want to know that I need to generate lots of fresh content so I am using wordpress as the blog medium and content generation medium too. Basically the wordpress instance will be a content generated pages.
I can also have static html page based content but then our content writers will always have to take the help of develoeprs to publish it to our sites.
Whats the best way to go about this keeping SEO really crucial in mind?
Thanks for your time and help!

I don't know what you mean by open page content, but if you use Wordpress as your CMS then you should use it for any static pages or content that is not going to change. Wordpress is good for seo if not better than maintaining static HTML as it is easy to change, easy for authors/publishers to use and requires little or no maintenance.

I don't quite know what you mean by 'open page content' - I'm guessing you just mean resources, articles etc open to all?
In any case - WordPress is good for SEO, and most developers use a CMS now even if they're capable of hand-coding.
With a few exceptions, the only time you might want static HTML pages is if you're keeping content the same forever. And even then, you can keep WordPress the same forever.
So I don't think you'll get any benefits from static HTML, and even if you do:
Benefits from static HTML (whatever they are, I doubt you'd find any) <<<<<<< Developer cost

What to do about one site dominating search results? (multiple pages ranking)?
Anybody have thoughts on dealing with search results where the same site gets listed multiple times? "weebly vs wix" is one example (same site #1-3, repetitive articles, not crazy high authority), but I see this now and then. I know Google likes variety, so it's weird for me to see results like this dominating search results. Thoughts? What gets these sites to take over the top rankings for a specific term? Any way to rise up in this situation, outside of the usual? Any tips on duplicating this kind of success?

So What's Up With Those Crappy Search Results?
I used to rank for some keywords now I've been outranked by crappy websites. But what amazes me most is that among the top 10 results for a particular keyphrase, 3 of these results point to websites that are no longer online! Worst than that, these websites have to backlinks! So how come 404 pages / non-existing websites rank higher than I do? Is Google loosing it or are they trying to create so much confusion in the hope that website owners will turn to Adwords?

Determining why an established competitor's rankings have bombed - What's the best way to go about it?
I arrived at work this morning to find my weekly SEOmoz ranking report for a main competitor waiting in my inbox. 90% of the their rankings have tanked in the last day or so by an average of 3 pages - most down from page 1 or 2 where they had been sitting pretty for ages. I'm not in a state of (total) euphoria about this because a) you should be humble enough not to gloat at your enemy's demise, and b) I need to find out what they did wrong so that I don't make the same mistake, too. **What is your first suggested port of call to determine where my (vanquished) foe has gone wrong? How much can I find out? ** I do know one thing - with OSE I can see they've used dodgy blogging services but this, to my mind, would have been jumped upon by Google last year. No? Thanks guys

Theoretical Canonical Query/Test
This is just a general discussion on your thoughts on this - maybe some tests have been done, but I haven't found any. Suppose I have document X If I put document X on high authority website A - It comes in SE position 1 for Keyword Z If I put document X on low authority website B - It comes in SE position 10 for Keyword Z What happens (if anything) if I put document X on website A and include a canonical tag to point to document X on website B. What SE position would document Z on website B now come for Keyword Z ??
