What keywords does the competition have?
-
I know this might be a long shot. I've been working on my google rankings and am first for a few keywords but still seeing quite low traffic.
Is there a tool that allows me to see what keywords my competition is receiving high levels of traffic from?
Thanks
Dan

That's the one that slipped my mind. I've heard good things about SpyFu.

Also, SpyFu can be used.
I use Google Trends to look at what keywords (and their trends) that people are looking for. Once you have a kw inventory work backwards and see if competitors are using those or not. If not and it is relevant, there may be a good opportunity to leverage them.

Not really. If you're trying to figure out what keywords your competitors are ranking for, there are a few things you can do...
- View the source code of their pages and see if they have their meta keywords tag filled in. Some sites still put their target keywords in this tag which creates no SEO value. It does however serve up their desired keywords on a silver platter.
- Use the SEOMoz Open Site Explorer to analyze your competitors domains. Click the anchor text tab which will allow you to group all their links by their anchor text or target keywords. This is a quick and easy way to see what keywords they are trying for by building backlinks.
- You can use http://www.semrush.com to view ten of the top keywords that a competitor's website ranks for organically, showing the keyword, position in search results, traffic percentage, and other useful information.
Hope these help!

Hi Dan
I believe that both SEMRush and KeywordSpy would be able to do this for you. They are both paid services, but KeywordSpy does come with a free trial, so it's worth checking out to see if it can give you the data you're looking for.
Hope this helps!

SEO beginner- How to decide what keyword to go after?
I started a website called Think and Grow Entrepreneur. I'm not sure where to start with Keywords and which ones to go after. Should I input the same keywords over and over my blog to rank in those or should I look at every post as a single entity and try to rank different keywords in each blog. Ideally I would like to rank for the keyword Entrepreneur, but there are already very powerful companies with the same keyword. How should I go about this situation? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Am I Doomed with Low Volume Keywords?
I've been pursuing an internet startup for over a year now. We've figured a lot of things out along the way and even managed to start making some modest revenue ~$3,000/month. We're just now starting to dig into SEO and I'm realizing that most of our keywords aren't very high volume. The best have 1,000 local searches per month (exact match) with most being a couple hundred local searches. I'm worried that I've picked a market that's too small, but I don't have the SEO experience to know if this is normal or not. Most of my keywords are rated 'highly competitive' and also are stacked with CPC ads upon Google search. I'd love to know what others' experience with keyword volume is and if I'm just overreacting on limited knowledge. Thanks!

Keyword Traffic Estimator Tools
Hello, I'm relatively new to SEO and looking to find a good tool for estimating the search traffic volume of different keywords in order to focus efforts on higher yielding terms. Right now I'm using Google's traffic estimator but it doesn't seem to have much data for long-tail keywords. Is anything else out there better or more accurate? Thank you!
