Linkbait help please!
-
The problem we find as a small printing company (www.discountbannerprinting.co.uk) even though we are in a decent field for ideas (design, printing, business advertising) we are really struggling with types of resource / link bait content to create which is either not out there already or would create a decent buzz (ideas we have bounced around such as exhibition guides sound ok but they have been done to death such as independent sites).
Any help would be really appreciated.

Try to do a funny banner post with a collection of creative/mistakes on billboards or banners or a pr stunt making the biggest banner ever and get into guiness book of records.

Hi Bob
I'm not saying do this and you may get in a wee bit of trouble, but this was literally the first thing that popped into my head after looking at your site.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but you look like the small business champion. The help that a lot of UK businesses need right now (bear with me, I'm building rhetoric!). With that in mind, why don't you get your brand out there...and stick it to the big guys?
Look at all those big brands not paying tax in the UK? Look at all those corps and bankers getting million pound bonuses while our public service falters?
Smack 'em!
Use your cheap printing, make a bunch of flyers and plaster them all over the place. On the walls of the banks, on the London underground, at the worst effected areas of the UK.
Print your images and messaging on multiple sheets to complete cover them up. Showcase how cheap you are to print and how you're taking things back for the beaten down bloke on the street.
Film it, get people to blog about it, ask people to connect to you on Twitter with suggestions on who/where/how you should target next.
Be the printing company this country needs!
This is slightly farcical (and slightly illegal), but do you see how it could work? The viral spread across social media creating a buzz around the campaign. Reaching out to the masses of people and bloggers out there who are championing this cause and speaking out for them, giving them a voice, appealing to your prospective client base? Filming it so you have a marketable bit of content to post, share and spread?
PR, links and buzz would follow. Hey, so might a knock on the door by the old bill, but I won't tell them if you won't!
Hope you've got that Friday Feeling!

Lost almost all organic traffic. Need some help.
Hi Mozers. I blog about our son with Down syndrome (https://noahsdad.com) and you may remember me from this case study here on Moz. https://moz.com/blog/seventeen-ways-to-improve-your-blog-case-study I was getting close to 100,000k a month in organic traffic to our blog, then it slowly started to decline to the point where I am not only getting 3k in organic traffic a month. So basically I lost all of my traffic. I honestly have no idea what is going on or why this happened. I know everyone is busy but would anyone be up for taking a peak into my GA and search console and seeing if you can figure out what may have changed and why my traffic dropped off so much. Our website helps a lot of people so you'd be doing some good and it may even be a good case study post! Thanks so much!

Where can I install a blog (not on the domain I'm optimising) which will help my search rankings?
I've got my hands tied, and I cannot install a blog like Wordpress on the domain I'm optimising. My question is, where then, would the next best place be? I've heard stories about subdomains being completely useless for affecting SEO of the root domain, and so anything external would probably have the same effect, correct? Would love to hear what some of you do in these situations. Cheers!

Need help deciding how to display directory listings in way Google will like best
My blog site currently has maybe 100 posts and I do about 7-8 new a week. I am creating a directory for an this site, which will end up eventually being a few hundred or more entries eventually. In the directory browse/search listing, each directory listing will have a title and a short description (one or two lines) and will show about 10-20 per page. And then the user can click an entry to see more details for the particular directory listing. This is where I have a choice, and I want to know what is the best for my site, in Google's eyes of course. Options: 1. The listing detail is displayed on a separate page. 2. The listing detail is displayed below the entry that was clicked, on the same page, by use of jquery to slide down the other content blow it to make room for it. (It actually looks slick, I've tried it). If I were writing full, unique pages for each listing detail, I'd choose option #1. But the vendors are submitting the content. It's possible they might just copy and paste their site's About page into it, or they might not even add any more detail other than their address. I can't control it. So, if going with option #1, let's say a third of the vendors add nice unique content, a third paste in some dup content, and a third just leave it blank (there would still be an address, couple line short description, and a title on the page). Would this situation be good, not good or neutral for my site? I'm not sure if adding additional pages, maybe half to two-thirds of which could be somewhat duped or of minimal word length would be bad or neutral for my site overall. As for my existing and ongoing blog pages--they are all unique, long and Google seems to love them.

Wordpress Duplicate Pages/ URL's - Help !
Hi guys, I have been running SEOMoz for just over a month and slowly cleaning up one of my Wordpress Blogs. While going through the crawl reports I have noticed that I have duplicate pages showing on the crawl. For example, the main post would be; www.xxxxx.com/blog/post-title Then I see another URL which would be; **www.xxxx.com/blog/page/59 ** When I click on either URL it goes back to the actual post title URL. What's with these page URL's ? Isn't these two URL's showing duplicate content to the search engines ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Woot! Finally got some linkbait out.
I have been working on a cool piece of linkbait for our real estate site and I finally bit the bullet and published it last night. I pushed out a few emails to some local media. This morning I was woken up by a phone call from a local radio station wanting to interview me about my article! I realized when I hung up that I didn't ask for a link or even a mention of the website. Hopefully they will mention it so it will get more attention! I'd love to hear your experiences in working with the media like this.

Please help me stop google indexing https pages on my wordpress site
I added SSL to my wordpress blog because that was the only way to get a dedicated IP address for my site at my host. Now I am noticing Google has started indexing posts both as http and https. Can some one please help how to force google not to index https as I am sure its like having duplicate content. All help is appreciated. So far I have added this to top of htaccess file: RewriteEngine on Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^443$ RewriteRule ^robots.txt$ robots_ssl.txt And added robots_ssl.txt with following: User-agent: Googlebot Disallow: / User-agent: * Disallow: / But https pages are still being indexed. Please help.
