Using Your 50 Monthly SERP Analysis Reports
-
Hi. I've been running analysis on a variety of keywords for a few of our clients and am noticing I'm going through our 50 monthly full SERP Analysis Reports pretty quickly.
While SEO is only a fraction of what we do, I know there are large SEO shops out there that must run a tremendous amount of analysis each month.
If you're running such analysis routinely, how do you manage with only 50 full SERP Analysis Reports each month? How do these reports fit into your workflow?
Thanks a lot.

Thanks for your reply Scott.
I generally run the full SERP Analysis to dive deeper into analyzing the likelihood we'll be able to rank for a given phrase. In the past I've found it useful to see the level of optimization for the top 10 pages as well as some metrics on the number of links coming in to those pages that are ranking. I weigh these against the domains and pages we're trying to rank to see how it looks.
We don't give this data directly to clients. We interpret the data and talk to them about their chances to rank for given phrases.

Honestly, I have not run that report in over a year myself. While it does provide interesting data, I'm interested to know what's the main reason you are running that report? Is it to show to clients to explain the possible difficultly associated with ranking a keyword, or some other reason?

Inbound links not showing in reports
My clients site so far only has a few inbound links. If I do a report on MOZ/Open Site Explorer it only lists 10 domains linking in and, a number of important ones are not on that list. As an example, one of the leading UK national newspapers (Daily Telegraph) has a link on this page to the client www.vidavida.co.uk and yet this link/domain does not appear in the above reports. Is this an intentional nofollow type thing that the telegraph does and is there a way for me to check that on their site/page? http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/news-features/TMG8655068/Holiday-travel-in-style.html Any comments most appreciated. Thanks,

How to run down the actual source of a 404 error that is reported.
In my 404 errors, the second entry is as follows: URL: http://www.virginiahomesandforeclosures.com/listing/0428387-lot-k-commerce-park-franklin-va-23851/REWIDX_URL_CDNimg/no-image.gif Is there a simple way to find the root or page in which this error was generated? IF I visit this page " http://www.virginiahomesandforeclosures.com/listing/0428387-lot-k-commerce-park-franklin-va-23851" without the attached gobble de gook, I see a good page. So bottom line its possible it could be in one of my sitemaps, but I have 50 of those so its time consuming to search thru all 50 for each error like this since I have so many. I am pretty sure its not in my sitemaps, since google has not picked up any of these errors and they have crawled over 12,000 urls so far. When google gives me a 404 error I can click on the link and find what pages they found the link and go there and correct it at the root. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have more than 1,000 of these errors with the bad url with the junk attached to the end and have not been able to isolate the cause yet. Thanks in advance.

Plurals and the SEOmoz On Page Report Card
I have some pages on my website that receive an "A" grade with the SEOmoz On Page Report Card if I use a plural term in a phrase (say, "landscape designers in Dallas") but an "F" grade if I use the singular term (say, "landscape designer in Dallas"). Is this a true and accurate reflection of how search engines see the page? Am I going to rank well for plural terms but not for singular, given the specific on-page content I'm using in this example? Or is this an opportunity for SEOmoz to tweak its' algorithm to better reflect the search engines?

Seomoz on-page analysis, how strict to be
Hello, In a competitive niche, how important is it to be strict with the seomoz on-page analysis? If it gives a page/keyword an A, am I good to go? Or do I need to be more strict in that. We've had some competition move above us and we want to make sure we're on-site optimized well. site: nlpca(dot)com Thanks.

OSE Advanced Reports best practices
I'm curious how people use the OpenSiteExplorer Advanced Reports tab. It seems very powerful. What do you use it for? In particular, I see that it has choices for 'same C block' and 'different C block'. Those seem useful to find C blocks that my competitors have links from that I do not, but I'm not totally clear on how to construct the query. Any help or best practices would be appreciated. Thanks!

Possible to force the SEOmoz Ranking Report to update?
Hi guys, I have added about 100 keywords to my Rankings Report in SEOmoz and I'm just wondering if there is a way to force the application to get my rankings ASAP rather than waiting a while for the rankings to come through? I'm in a bit of a hurry! 🙂 Thanks. C.

Best way to use OSE Advanced Reports
I can see that Open Site Explorer's Advanced Reports feature is very powerful in terms of sifting through large amounts of link data, but does anyone have any useful tips on how to get the most out it? I want to use my 5 reports a month, but I want to make to maker sure I'm making the most of that allowance.

Campaign keywords (48) and on page report (17)
I go into my campaign keywords and have 48, but when I view my on page report only 17 show up? All keywords have been in there since last Friday except 2-26-11, 4 I added this Friday 3-4-11.
