Keyword Research Local vs Organic
-
I am curious what tact people take when doing KWR for a local business where regional keywords are important, for example 'Dallas Family Dentist' vs just 'Family Dentist'?
It can be challenging to consistently create content for these regional keywords without looking spammy or akward in the wording of titles and copy.
Any advice on how you approach SEO research or content creation when these regional words are important?

We have similar issues with our own keywords, and creativity is certainly key. Think along the lines of "We've been operating for 20 years in Dallas. Family dentistry is our specialty." It does become very awkward. Alt tags, titles, and captions are easier to fit key phrases like that into. So I say aim for the best you can, then optimize for the shorter phrase like "Family Dentist."

Good thoughts on the page theming for the head term. I'm not sure if that is enough though when dealing with really competitive terms or verticals. Exact match phrasing or at least including the regional term still seems necessary.
Thoughts?

I imagine State side as the country is so vast, regional words would be very important
From my experience, I would use regions within Meta Tags, as opposed to page content, as you say it can look very tacky and not aesthetically pleasing to a website to have a heading saying 'Dallas Family Dentist'
So for example, meta Tag would be "Dallas Family Dentist etc etc", and optimize the page for Family Dentist.
Its worked for me before.

What are SEO's using for Keyword Research?
Hey folks, I just wanted to find out what everyone is using for keyword research now that the Google Keyword Tool has been retired. I know there is a form of it in Adwords, but something a little more usable than this. Cheers,

Why will my site not rank for this keyword?
My site http://www.electric-heatingcompany.co.uk/ performs quite well for most of my keywords and gets ok traffic. But for "electric radiators" it just isn't ranking? I was thinking about redoing the landing page for it? Can anyone offer some insight as to what else I could do? Here is the current electric radiators page http://www.electric-heatingcompany.co.uk/index.php/electric-radiators-2/ Thanks, Laura

Not Set Keywords
Hi, we have recently been working on our site's keywords and we have seen an increase in traffic. As I monitor my keywords, I see that the Not Set keyword has increased a great deal and now become my top keyword. I researched some but all I got is that users are bookmarking my page or using other avenues to reach my website. Can anyone give me a more concrete answer? Is this bad? Or is this a direct result of an increase in traffic. Any words of wisdom will be much appreciated, As you were...

Broad Vs. Exact Match
My question seems basic in nature but some recent keyword research has caused me to re-think broad vs. exact match. I was taught to focus on exact match for the short term and broad match for the long term prospects of a keyword. Today I was researching a niche of keyword phrases where the local search volume (broad) was, for example 33,000. The local search volume (exact) was only 500. What I know about broad vs. exact doesn't help me to determine if this keyword is worth going after. The keyword difficulty score by the way was 35% Yes, I do know that I will probably go after this keyword anyway but to refine my question, how do I get an idea of how "big" this keyword is? Is it more on the broad or more on the exact match of things? How do I determine the various derivatives of the phrase that occur under the broad match?
