I think that Keri is talking about nice advertorial that gets loaded with a ton of spammy links.
It's not about the quality of the content. It's what people are trying to use it for. (Getting your site to vote for their site in ways that Google doesn't approve.)

Once you leave Moz there is a lot of bad advice out there.
Don't do this stuff.
-
Google isn't going to endorse either of those tactics. Heck, they even just reinforced that if you have any advertorial content on your news site you need to make sure that's not in your site map or they may not index our news site at all.
However, people are free to write whatever they want online. Google isn't the police, but if you want to be included in Google, you need to follow their rules.

From someone who has worked in the publishing industry for more years than I care to remember, I have to say that some of the guidelines should be included in print publication. I have forgot the amount of times for print publications that i have had to write something nice just because our advertising department have said a company has paid good money for ad editorial.

Updating Publishing Date on Blog Posts
Hi, We have been optimising and re-sharing old blogs posts from our feed. If we were to change the date of publishing on the posts in order to bring them to the top of our feed, would this have any negative impacts on the posts' metadata? Thanks!

Is Publishing Content from a Book to your Site Considered Duplicate Content?
It is a book we don't own, either. Would you need to somehow find the original and rel=canonical it? Or is this just all around bad to do? Thanks.

How do I properly sitemap a site with static pages + Wordpress in it's own directory?
I apologize for the awkward wording in the headline. No to the issue, I have a site with static pages that are created as follows: url.com, url.com/page1, url.com/page2, etc. I then have WordPress install at url.com/blog. What is the proper method for creating a comprehensive sitemap for my entire domain. I like the sitemap feature provided by Yoast SEO plugin but I assume it will only index the wordpress directory (url.com/blog). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How to Get Rid of Duplicate Content Captured on Article Lists
We have a ton of articles and blog posts on our site. Currently, we display summary lists of articles that contain the first paragraph of the article in the summary list. However, in my reports, this is coming back as duplicate content with the full article itself. How do I fix this? Ex: article main page- http://www.robots.com/articles/10 First article on that page- http://www.robots.com/articles/viewing/grippers-for-robots (which shows up as duplicate content with the main artilce page). With our blogs, we have the most recent 5 blogs (in the same summary format) listed on our main blog page. We then have categories that people can sort by. But again, this is causing us duplicate content because those pages show the first paragraph of the blogs related to that category. Ex: blog main page- http://www.robots.com/blog. First blog listed on that page- http://www.robots.com/blog/viewing/robots-and-automation-bringing-jobs-back-to-the-united-states (which then shows as duplicate content with the main blog page). And then you can also select categories to see related topics: http://www.robots.com/blog/category/buying-a-robot which is showing as duplicate content also. Help! How can I prevent this? Thanks! Users reporting that there is a virus on my site.
A few months ago I found out that someone had hacked my site and placed malicious code and modified my .htaccess. I am pretty certain that I have cleared up all of the bad code (within 12 hours of it being infected). Yet, I am getting people telling me that their virus checker is warning them of a trojan on my site. Is there anything that can be done? I have no malware warnings in my Webmaster Tools. The site currently has 2 articles that are going viral and I'd hate for that to be screwed up by a stupid virus!

Duplicate content - 6 websites, 1 IP. Is the #1 site knocked down too?
Yes I know, running multiple websites on 1 IP isn't smart. 6 Websites with duplicate content on 1 IP is even worse. It's a technical issue we can't solve quickly. Thing is, our #1 website, which has the highest DA and PR, was the first website with all this content. All other websites we're running were launched a few months, and some a few years, later. All content was copied from the #1 website. I'd say the other websites would get knocked down by Google, because they duplicated the content. Google should see that our #1 website was the first that uploaded this content. Therefore our #1 website should rank normally. Questions is: What does Google think of duplicate content when all websites are on 1 IP? Is, or will our #1 website get punished as well?
