SEOMoz report says: 1 Warning Title Element Too Long (> 70 Characters)

SEOMoz report says: 1 Warning Title Element Too Long (> 70 Characters) Found 36 minutes ago Number of characters 112 (over by 42)" but I go to my Magento and look in both titles, meta & main and there are indeed only 70 showing. The additional come because my domain name, ergoback.com is in the error.! How to fix this please?
-
Ergoback,
You have two sections of code on each page for Title tags and meta descriptions. You only need one. As Vancity Stacks suggested, one is probably added by Magento and the other is probably added by the theme. The theme's versions of title and meta description would probably be the easiest and safest to remove. Yes, you can delete it.
-
Thanks, Christopher. Do I need this, my site name here? Can I delete it?
-
In your theme goto graysclae/template/page/html/head.phtml
This line adds your site name in
<title>echo $this->getTitle() ?>title>
-
matt, thanks, but the above two titles do not show up this way on my magento back end.
it adds: "ErgoBack.com" at the begin, and, and "Ergo Back - www.ErgoBack.com" thus adding 42 characters over 70.
On my Magento, my general description says:
330 Series: Lift and Lock Articulating Arm - For Shallow Work Surfaces
and my meta title says:
330 Series: Lift and Lock Articulating Arm - For Shallow Work Surfaces
So why/where does my domian, ergoback get counted?
-
You have two titles.
<title></span><span class="webkit-html-tag">Ergoback- Neutral Posture Seating | Ergonomic Office Chairs | Rochester, NY</span><span class="webkit-html-tag"></title> (75 characters)
<title></span><span class="webkit-html-tag">ErgoBack.com Home Ergo Back - www.ErgoBack.com</span><span class="webkit-html-tag"></title> (46 chars)
So you have one title over 70 and a total of about 120 characters in the <title>tags. I would guess those are your two problems.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p></title>

Does it make sense to pursue long-tail keywords with low search volume
Hi Moz community, I need your insight into what would ensure better rankings. Some of the pages that I am optimizing are dedicated to niche products targeting specific verticals and the main keywords have really low average search volume (below 50). I'll give you an example (these are not the exact keywords, just an example to illustrate my dilemma): if my long-tail keyword is "student information management software" with search volume of 20, when do I stand better chances to gain search visibility: by optimizing the page for this long-tail keyword and incorporating it in the title tag, or by pursuing more generic keywords with higher search volume: "student" and "information management software"? If I am targeting short-tail keywords, will the page also rank for long-tail searches that are a combination of these keywords? In other words, which scenario gives better chances to rank higher: 1) pursuing short-tail keywords with high search volume in the title-tag 2) pursuing fewer long-tail keywords with lower search volume that are a combination of those in scenario 1? Thanks in advance for your help!

How does Google treat special characters in titles?
Seems like a stupid question, but one that I never really gave much thought about before. How exactly does Google treat special characters in titles? Do they all get seen as spaces? e.g. Does Awesome Product - OptionA/OptionB/OptionC available get seen the same way as **Awesome Product - OptionA, OptionB, **OptionC available ? Or even **Awesome Product - OptionA OptionB **OptionC available ? Or will Google see the first title as **OptionA/OptionB/OptionC **being a whole "keyword" due to there being no space between them? Like I've always just assumed that with apostrophised words will be seen as keyword s. And when using commas, there's always a space after the comma anyway. Are all "special characters" treated the same?

How to estimate search volume for multiple long tail queries?
I am comparing Moz, WordTracker and Google keyword research tools and trying to figure out how I can compare the aggregated search volume for a page which targets several similar long-tail queries. For instance, according to one tool, the query 'printable guitar sheet music' has 125 monthly searches, but many small variations of this also have a similar amount. Do I just make a reasonable list and calculate them? Or do I just use "125" as an abstract number of measurement with no concrete reference to a **real **number of searchers, but useful in comparing one keyword to the next, and assume that all key words have a similar degree of consorting variations? I seem to remember Google used to give away some pretty damned useful information in the keyword search tool, including monthly search volume. But now it looks like the metric is not actual search volume, but a 1-100 score based on the search volume. So my questions are: Should I try to convert these numbers into real search figure estimates or just use them for comparing one to the next? Should I worry about trying to combine the aggregated variations of long tail keyword searches, or should I just choose one good keyword and let that represent all possible variations?

Are my urls too long or spammy?
Hello, what are your thoughts on these urls. I have had them like this for years, I got hit hard from Google in May last year. Do you think this contributed? Would it be beneficial for me to make them shorter? http://www.ditalia.com.au/couture-dressmakers-seamstresses-tailors-couturiers-and-fashion-design-advice/cocktail-gowns http://www.ditalia.com.au/wedding-dress-wedding-dresses-and-bridal-gowns-designed-and-made http://www.ditalia.com.au/designer-fabrics-designer-fabric-italian-material-and-french-lace/french-lace http://www.ditalia.com.au/wedding-dress-wedding-dresses-and-bridal-gowns-designed-and-made/vintage-wedding-dresses

Does SEOmoz account for keyword variations?
If I want to know my rank for bank account, do I need to list bank accounts as well or will my ranking include variations? Also, if I use the word bank as a keyword, will any search that contains the word bank (even when other words are included) count towards the ranking for that word? Or would I need to add additional keywords like dallas bank, local bank, etc?

Identifying long tail phrases
I’m trying to find some long tail phrases for some competitive products, with reasonable number of local searches per month. I’ve tried using Google Adword/ keyword tool but I’m not having much luck. Ideally I would like to keep the product name as the first part of the long tail phrase. Which other tools would you recommend I try? K
