Any way of showing missed sales in Google Analytics?
-
Sit down, this might get a little complicated...
I was approached by a design company to do some SEO work a client of theirs. Usually, this stuff is white label but I have direct contact with the client as the design agency felt it was easier for me to do this.
The website is performing really well and looking at the sales funnel, I'm getting people wanting to buy. BUT, and here's the problem, everything falls apart because of the way the check out works. It's appalling. The customer has to register to buy a product, there's no guest check out or anything. The checkout button is right below the fold and you'd miss it completely if you didn't actually search for it.
Basically, it's losing the client money. Last month alone there were 300~ people entering the conversion funnel and NONE of them complete it.
I've been talking with the design company and they basically saying that it's too much work for them to change it, it's a signed off project blah blah. UI reports have been conducted and sent to them but still nothing.
I have the client asking (a great client, obviously wondering why there is a lack of return on his investment) why he isn't making money. He's asking me because I'm the guy thats meant to be getting him the cash back.
I keep saying to the design agency the problems and that it's never going to make money. The potential is massive. But thats my problem.
Is there ANY way in GA to calculate the missed sales? I know that I can view the total amount made when the customer successfully checks out but I need figures to present that I'm leading the horse to water, but the check out system is preventing it from drinking.
tl;dr I need to show client/design agency missed sales due to poorly built checkout system.
Cheers!

You need to show them how many abandoned shopping cart views are being generated. Then i would take your average sales value and multiply it with the amount of abandoned carts to get a figure to show them. (take out some for normal abandon carts for industry )

Do you have goals set up for the checkout? With setting goals, you could identify which process of the checkout they are leaving and start with optimizing there.
You could do some research for your niche and find what the industry standard conversion rate is and apply that to your websites traffic and get a loss revenue figure
Visitors x Conversion Rate x Average Order Value = Revenue
Should be pretty straight forward to say hey, your checkout process is losing you $xxx.
However, when you implement the goal tracking, it will only start calculating from that point forward. So for the lost sales, your going to have to manually calculate everything.

Google is a definition engine / Question answering engine
But what do you do to rank when you sell a product and people don't have questions and none of the companies that rank on your keywords answers questions... Let me give you a few example. Title tag for example : People want to know what is it and then have question about it What is the maximum number of characters ? How do you write a good one ? Etc... How to remove stains is another example : Please want to know how to remove all the different types of stains, (ketchup, grease etc..) But what about when you are a online business and want to sell usb keys , rent bicycles https://www.spinlister.com or even sell a software to do A/B testing on your website https://bit.ly/2a6cBuF Can someone explain me how those people mentioned rank without giving definition or answering questions... because according to me they don't do any of that on the pages that I mentioned. I look forward to your reply. Thank you,

What is the best way to employ log-in to benefit in SEO?
Hi all, All SaaS companies have this log-in page as their top visited page in their websites and some times it helps and also hurts them. I've gone through some big SaaS companies websites and they handle the log-in page differently like on sub domain, on website page, some will directly link to their instance login without a page, etc...I wonder what is the best practice to host the log-in to make sure the more visits to log-in page don't hurt us but give us some boost. Thanks

A campaign ghost keeps returning to my Google Analytics - Help!
A couple of campaign tracking links were created on my homepage (leading to internal pages), these were removed a few weeks ago (100% removed from the site). I understand there is a 6 month window and as long as a user returns (no matter from which source) they will be counted as a session against that campaign. Since these campaign links were set-up in error, I hoped creating a fresh new view within Google Analytics would stop them appearing. However they are still showing as sessions even in the new view (created after removing the campaign links in question). Is there anyway to stop this happening!? I want to be able to report on sessions correctly. Thanks, Sam

BWT Meta Language Missing?
For some reason, we do incredibly worse in Bing than we do in Google. In the SEO reporter tool, I saw this message:
Web Design | | KempRugeLawGroup
Use tag in the section of your page, where "ll-cc" stands for the culture code of the language and country/region the content applies to. Alternatively use the lang="ll-cc" attribute on either the or the <title> tag .:<br /><br />I'm guessing Bing wants to me to add USA and Eng to my site, but my questions are, 1. why isn't this an issue for google? 2. I have this error message for all my pages, so is there a sitewide WP plugin anyone would recommend?</span></p> <p><span>Thanks,</span></p> <p><span>Ruben</span></p></title>0 -
Show root domain (that is 301 redirected) in SERP?
Hi, If I have the domain name www.businessname.com.au pointing (using 301 redirect) to a particular page on a business directory site (eg www.bizdirectory.com.au/businessname), is it possible to have the URL www.businessname.com.au displayed in the Google search results rather than the destination page of www.bizdirectory.com.au/businessname? Thanks in advance,

What's the best way to sculpt links on a page?
I know PR isn't a top ranking factor anymore, so "PR sculpting" isn't something to focus on. But isn't it still true that having more links that you need on any given page is worse than having fewer, in terms of that page's authority? I'm managing a site that has a lot of navigational links in the footer, which are duplicative because they're almost all included in the top nav bar, and several are triplicated in the sidebar as well. I wanted to remove 85% of these duplicative links from the footer, thinking they diluted the page authority and that most users probably won't scroll there anyway when we launch the site. The site owner is pushing back, though, not wanting to remove so many links because he believes they might be useful to some users. We can test our respective user-behavior theories after launching, but right now I have two questions: Will having a sizable number of duplicative links in the footer dilute the page's authority? and 2) Are there any other ways to reduce this dilution, aside from simply removing the links? (I know nofollow is not the answer, but possibly using iframes or Java or something like that?)

Google News we were dropped and need help finding ot why
Hi i have a site called in2town lifestyle magazine http://www.in2town.co.uk/ and up until two months ago we were with google news and for a long time. But then all of a sudden we were dropped which left us with no confidence about our site and led us to make changes to the site, some good and some bad to try and find out what was wrong with our site and why we were dropped. We have now been concentrating on sorting the site out which has led in a drop in traffic due to not updating it as we should because we are more concerned in trying to make it a quality lifestyle magazine and get back in google as well as making it a good experience for our readers.. I would like your help and finding out what you feel is wrong with our site so we can then work on it and change it and try and find out what went wrong with google news. we have spent years on the site but now we have gone in the wrong direction because we were more worried about google news. If you can advise us on how we should change the site and sort the site out and make it into the professional site it was once more then that would be great.
