Paid for Yahoo Directory months ago, yet does not display in OSE
-
Hi Mozzers,
How long does it normally take for your yahoo directory link to show up in Open Site Explorer?
We signed up and got our link on dir.yahoo early January and still see nothing in OSE. Should I call them up and ask them to fetch the page for Google?
Get a refund?Helps!
Thanks! -
I just took a look and it looks like the page was last crawled less than 2 weeks ago.
I also looked in GWT and I actually see 7 dir.yahoo links!
Woot.
Thanks Nakul.

Hi,
As far as I know - based on feedback from several people, the Yahoo directory has a low crawl rate from Google bot - that means it can take some time for a link from Yahoo dir to show up.
More then that - OSE only covers a portion of the web and it might skip Yahoo Dir. if it's not in OSE it dosen't mean Google didn't find it though - there are a lot of older Yahoo dir links that are not showing in OSE.
If you post the Yahoo dir page where you have the link for sure me or someone else from here can have a more direct " dive " into this...
Hope it helps.

As an aside, by the time you get to renewal time for next year's listing in Yahoo, you may want to have already looked at other ways to spend that 300 bucks.

If you go to the URL where your directory listing is on dir.yahoo.com, and check the Google cache for that page, is that page cached ? When was it cached ? And do you see your URL on the cached version of that page ? If yes, you are getting the credit for it. You may or may not see it on OSE, because OSE only crawls a portion of the web.
Does that link show up in your Google Webmaster Console Links ? If yes, in either the cache or GWC or both, you are good and no need to worry.

Old URL that has been 301'd for months appearing in SERPs
We created a more keyword friendly url with dashes instead of underscores in December. That new URL is in Google's Index and has a few links to it naturally. The previous version of the URL (with underscores) continues to rear it's ugly head in the SERPs, though when you click on it you are 301'd to the new url. The 301 is implemented correctly and checked out on sites such as http://www.redirect-checker.org/index.php. Has anyone else experienced such a thing? I understand that Google can use it's discretion on pages, title tags, canonicals, etc.... But I've never witnessed them continue to show an old url that has been 301'd to a new for months after discovery or randomly.

Showing up in Bing and Yahoo, but not Google? - Spa Spot
Spa Spot Edmonton is a Client of ours and while it seems that they are performing very well in Bing and Yahoo search engines, the same can't be said about Google. 9 or 10 keywords are on the 1st page with another 9 or 10 on the second pages of Bing and Yahoo, whereas Google is only ranking 3 keywords and the rest do not show up even in the Top 50. Any ideas?

Big hit to traffic a while ago, and slow recovery. Is there anything we've missed?
www.movehub.com We took a big hit to our organic traffic when we implemented an HTML form which included a list of every country in the world, twice. This rolled out onto every page on our website. And it got indexed by Google (webmaster tools showed our content keywords as being those from the form occurring 9000+ times on the site) We've fixed this and the content keywords are back to normal, however our traffic has not yet fully recovered. Is there anything on our site that you think could be sending spam signals to Google, or could be impeding our organic traffic growth?

Whats the best way to revive a directory that was 301'd and now I want to remove that?
Last year i 301'd one of my directories on my site, pointing everything to a different directory. Long story short I am going to sell this product line again and would like to just remove the 301 to that original directory, but I am reading that the 301s are also cached in most browsers for a long time. Has anyone successfully done this and if you did what was it that you had to do? Thanks Mike

Site unaffected by algo changes until this month- why?
I had 2 websites. One of these I trashed as it took a pretty big hit from Panda and was virtually wiped out by Penguin. The other site is over 4 years old and until this month had miraculously remained unaffected by all the changes. In fact, my traffic this October was better than it had ever been. This month my traffic is way, way down. I don't know if this is related to the hurricane (my business is in NYC) or if it is just a factor that web traffic to any site can fluctuate considerably from month to month, or if there is a more insiduous reason. Most of my links are directory links, including some good ones like DMOZ and BOTW , and the most high quality directories I could find. The site is www.affordable-uncontested-divorce.com. . Does anyone have any ideas? thx Paul

Yahoo Store, Is Name ranked higher that headline?
For Yahoo stores. The template built by 1choice4yourstore has Name which Yahoo tells me is the H1tag. There is also an option of Headline. Name works as the title for the page without headline. If you enter anything in Headline it overrides Name and becomes the visible title for the page. So if Name is: 11 and Headline is: 22, the viewer sees 22 as the visible title. Do the spiders see Name and Headline differently? Is there a clear advantage to duplicating and having both Name and Headline identical?
