Can someone PLEASE help me find a solution to use a custom search engine for iPhones?? Thanks in advance!
-
Hey mozzers, I'm in quite the pickle today and would really appreciate some help!
i need a way to have my members set their default custom search engine on their iPhones and androids to our sites search engine.
Google chrome does on desktops but not iPhones.
Thanks for your time/help,
Tyler Abernethy

No problem, please let me know what you come up with I would be interested to find out

I'd rather not divulge to much into why they would use ours, other than the fact people support any tool, or feature that we can offer.
So basically, our members are expecting us to move into other realms (like search)
Currently we have the desktop factor figured out. the problem is, mobile devices, which i'm sure you know are of increasing importance (especially for our 19 - 23 demographic)
I noticed that you mentioned that the only way WE could "force it" would be with a jailbroken phone, but is there no way that the user can download an app, or a different browser that DOES allow THEM to choose to change it?
Thanks a ton for all your help Cesar, i'm gonna keep searching too, hopefully we can figure it out?

Ah I see...
Ok on IOS you can't just change someone default search engine yourself through any third party site. You just can't access a users phone like that. Not sure about android, but I am curious about it as well so I will research that too.
The closet thing you can get to doing something like that is with a Jailbroken iPhone but the user still has to make the change physically on their phone.

The first suggestion is by far the closet thing you are going to get with what you want, you force a default search engine but you can encourage them to use your site instead.
Let me ask you this as an outsider, what would encourage me to use your search engine over someone else?

Nice. That's closer than what anyone else has recommended! I am going to hold off on the good answer to try and get more replies, but that is close!
I really need to be able to change their default search engine for their iphone safari browser (or find a browser that they can use, which DOES allow changing the default search engine)

I use this for my IOS users, works great and I get a ton of returning visitors because of it

Can OG titles be used as a substitute for Meta titles
We use og (open graph) titles in lieu of meta titles. Is there any downside to using just one. Should we be using both og and meta titles on our page. Appreciate any insight. Himanshu

We just can't figure out the right anchor text to use
We have been trying everything we can with anchor text. We have read here that we should try naturalistic language. Our competitors who are above us in Google search results don't do any of this. They only use their names or a single term like "austin web design". Is what we are doing hurting our listings? We don't have any black hat links. Here's what we are doing now. We are going crazy trying to figure this out. We are afraid to do anything in fear it will damage our position. Bob | pallasart web design | 31 | 1,730 |

Keyword Density Clarification, Please
Does keyword density only account for the content-based text on the page or everything that can be crawled on the page? To illustrate, I'll use this forum page and the keyword Moz. Here's my incredibly short blog post: "Moz forum is very helpful, but I still can't figure out Moz analytics." Now, in terms of keyword density, is "Moz" only being counted twice for the times I mentioned it in my post (what I'm calling content-based text) or is "Moz" being counted 40-50 times for all the places it appears on this page. Thanks, Ruben

Should I use canonicals? Best practice?
Hi there, I've been working on a pretty dated site. The product pages have tabs that separate the product information, e.g., a tab for specifications, a tab for system essentials, an overview tab that is actually just a copy of the product page. Each tab is actually a link to a completely separate page, so product/main-page is split into product/main-page/specs, product/main-page/resources, etc. Wondering if canonicals would be appropriate in this situation? The information isn't necessarily duplicate (except for the overview tabs) but with each tab as a separate page, I would imagine that's diluting the value of the main page? The information all belongs to the main page, shouldn't it be saying "I'm a version of the main page"?

Hit hard by EMD update, used to be #1 now not in top 50, what can I do?
We have what I think is a pretty good site, unique articles a few widgets, lots of reviews, decent enough bounce rates and user times (60% and 2:15) based on drupal. Previous updates haven't touched us and an almost identical duplicate (same site compltely different content) of the site targetting a different but related EMD is unaffected which provides a control. I have seen some discussion on it having to do with link profiles. We did pay some backlinkers to link to us, much more on the site that has dropped, and quite a few for a partial match keyword. I'm supposing this is a lot of the issue. If we try and delete these backlinks will it make the situation better or worse? I have also notice some duplicate content warnings in seomoz that weren't there previously. Any ideas?

I just found something weird I can't explain, so maybe you guys can help me out.
I just found something weird I can't explain, so maybe you guys can help me out. In Google http://www.google.nl/#hl=nl&q=internet. The number 3 result is a big telecom provider in the Netherland called Ziggo. The ranking URL is https://www.ziggo.nl/producten/internet/. However if you click on it you'll be directed to https://www.ziggo.nl/#producten/internet/ HttpFox in FF however is not showing any redirects. Just a 200 status code. The URL https://www.ziggo.nl/#producten/internet/ contains a hash, so the canonical URL should be https://www.ziggo.nl/. I can understand that. But why is Google showing the title and description of https://www.ziggo.nl/producten/internet/, when the canonical URL clearly is https://www.ziggo.nl/? Can anyone confirm my guess that Google is using the bulk SEO value (link juice/authority) of the homepage at https://www.ziggo.nl/ because of the hash, but it's using the relevant content of https://www.ziggo.nl/producten/internet/ resulting in a top position for the keyword "internet".

404 help
Hello all, firstly let me apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this question. I have a site www.promptresponseaccidentmanagement.com which gets a 200ok when checked for crawl issues, however pages such as /whiplash-injury-compensation-claims.php , /road-traffic-accident-compensation-claims.php and quite a few more return a 404. That's fine (usually) as I can quite happily fix that most of the time. However if you actually go to those pages in your browser, or click through to them on any part of the site you will see that they are in fact not redirecting to a 404 and everything is fine!? Any body got any ideas? Best H
