google can read your site - they may be reading the content and changing your titles that they are displaying - instead of showing your title tag, they are showing one that they believe to be more relevant.
In Webmaster Tools, you can fetch the page as Googlebot and see what they can see - if you want me to help you via your webmaster tools account, contact me in private message and we can take it from there. But you should be able to do this on your own and see what Google can see - once you know what they can see, you can diagnose if they can actually crawl your page, or if they are rewriting the tags for other reasons.
But your 301 redirect you put in place looks ok to me.

I recently placed a redirect in my htaccess file redirecting http://thegrooves.net to http://www.thegrooves.net to build page rank to the www version of my site. Could that be the reason that the spider can't see my title elements? Oh, and to answer your question, my site shows up in serps for a brand query but all my rankings for key search phrases are gone due to google spider not being able to tell what my site is about because it can't read the body or the page title.

Hi Ron,
I am not an expert on topic of HTML validation, but having gone to http://www.freeformatter.com/html-validator.html and entered your URL appears that there are incompatabilities -- these may be minor enough not to be the cause at all of what you're describing). For example, there is HTML5 code in the HTML but the HTML specified in the DOCTYPE (basically tells the browser reader which version of HTML the site is using; see more at w3c.org). Try it yourself and you'll have more information which may be helpful. Even if this is not affecting SERP it's still a good idea to have your code updated so that the site pages work with HTML5 (e.g., Google +1 snippet is coded in HTML5). - Alan

Not sure why you're saying Google can't access your site and your pages have been removed - you can see from this search query they are still in the index - https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=site%3Awww.thegrooves.net
I would definitely improve on your site - you have lots of empty pages created that are simply gallery pages, each page showing one image - I would create a gallery showing multiple images on a page - better for the search engines, better for users.
It looks like your site could use a refresh - it also doesn't look like you have Google Analytics installed - this would be a very powerful resource for knowing who is visiting your site, what they're doing, how visitors are converting, etc. I would definitely consider modernizing and fixing up your site

Hi Ron,
I'm happy to take a look at the site here on the forum - you just need to provide us with your URL and see if we can find an answer for you why the site isn't showing up in the SERPs

Which links to map across in site redesign
Hi there, I'm currently doing a fairly major website redesign for a client. They are moving to my hosting so I am creating the site on my cloud account and have edited my host files to work on it. The site structure will stay largely the same as it is quite a straightforward services site. However I'm moving them onto Wordpress from a different set up and I'm not sure how many of the links that they have, that aren't straight forward pages, I need to create redirects for. I have used Screaming Frog to get a list of all their URLs, of which there are 82. However alongside text/ html links I have: image/jpeg text/css

Why did Google Index a weird version of my blog post?
i wrote a page - https://domain.com/how-to-do-xyz/ but when doing an inurl search, i see that it is indexed by google as - https://secureservercdn.net/58584.883848.9834983/myftpupload/how-to-do-xyz/ (not actual url) and when i view that page, it is a weirdly formatted version of the page with many design elements missing. this is a wordpress site. Why would this be? thanks, Ryan

Does having too many wordpress portfolio pages with little content hurt a site's SEO?
I have a site that is for a service company, not image based like a photographer or artist. We utilize the Portfolio feature to create a gallery of floor coating finishes (images of all the flooring finish options available) but this solution has created /portfolio/file-name pages for each image. These pages have no other content besides the image. I've run SEMrush audits on this site which shows a high percentage of pages with low text/code ratio and duplicate content (a lot of the finishes have very similar names). This site has been extremely slow to improve any visibility online (more than 9 months) and I'm wondering if this is a factor by possibly having a negative effect on our site. We initially chose the portfolio option because it was the best-looking solution for our users but we can certainly change it to another format if that is better. Thanks!

Google pagespeed / lazy image load
Hi, we are using the apache module of google pagespeed. It works really great, helps a lot. But today I've asked me one question: Does the "lazy load" feature for images harm the ranking? The module reworks the page to load the images only if the are visible at the screen. Is this behavior also triggered by the google bot? Or are the images invisible for google? Any expirience about that? Best wishes, Georg.

HTTPS redirecting to subdomain; do I need to 301 to HTTP first?
Hello there, quick question on HTTPS downgrade to HTTP. Originally, full site was HTTPS. Redesign eliminated need for secure layer. Site currently has https 301'd to sub.domain.com. Ideally, site would live at domain.com, but with the old site having been indexed https, the security warning triggers when you visit, hence the 301 to a subdomain. Thinking possible solutions here are to a) add back in secure layer or b) 301 all old https pages to new http pages. Have I overlooked something? With (a), I will see no SEO impact, correct? With (b), can I expect impact similar to a relaunch? Have seen a lot of chatter that there is some impact in switching http to https, but not much the other way. Any help much appreciated!

'Increase in soft 404 errors' Webmasters notification. What to do?
I've received a Webmasters notification about an 'increase in soft 404 errors'. When we had the new site launched three months ago we did away with some old pages, which we either 301 to new equivalents, or, we return a 'Oops, that page seems to be missing' 404 page which has some links to important parts on the site that might be of use to the visitor. Any ideas why Webmasters is issuing the warning? Any suggestions as to what to do? Thanks

What are some on-pg recommendations for a flash resort site?
One of my clients want to be index for all their pages but I am afraid the website may have difficulty since it is all in flash. The website is a luxury brand for resorts. The website is me.graficode.com/preprod/ and currently has 6 main subfolers for resorts. Please let me know what recommendations will help me organically. It is hard to add content which will cause probelms for headers and keyword density.
