If I put some keywords in my pages might it optimize my homepage?
-
Let's say that I write content in some random pages in my websites - is there a possibility that it will affect and optimize my home page for the same keywords?
Hope you understand & sorry for my bad English!
-
I do put 9 popular product in my home page. The thing is that I don't know how to promote this page.
-
And on this ecommerce home page, are there 2 or 3 products that you can focus your SEO on?
You might focus on these 2 or 3 based on the following:
- Highest profit margins/product
- Most popular
- Easiest to sell/produce
It's frequently worthwhile to focus your SEO efforts onto these product pages, because:
- You can focus your keywords a lot better
- Users can buy directly from this page (on the home page, they have to choose/think, and you're going to lose a lot of users!)
- You can sell to a much more targeted set of users!
What do you think? Does it fit your needs & constraints?
-
It's an e-commerce home page.
-
@Rephael - what kind of a web page is it? Is it ecommerce, blog, business home page?
P.S. By the way, if you find my answers helpful, please thumbs up!
-
Thanks for your response Andrew.
The thing is that when I will create landing pages with the keywords that I want to get promoted in my homepage it will take the traffic to the landing pages instead of my homepage and that's a problem.
What should I do about it?
-
Here's a good place to start working on that topic. The Content Marketing Manifesto.
-
@Rephael -
Here are some ideas:
- Create & use landing pages: It'll attract more a focused user group, and it'll help you sell better. There's only so many keywords you can stuff on a page before Google starts penalizing you.
- Create content pages and promote your content through link building, social media
- Try to be clever to come up with reasons people should visit your site and link to your site
-
@rephael - It will only do a small amount for your home page. Nonetheless, you should do it!
Here is why the impact will be small
There are a couple layers that you should pay attention to:
-
Page-level
-
EXAMPLE: www.example.com/products/apples VERSUS www.example.com/products/bananas
-
IMPACT: The keywords MOST STRONGLY affect the particular page that you are on
-
WHY: The keywords specify what's on the page you're on. This is the "room" you're in.
-
Subdomain-level
-
EXAMPLE: kipjacksnauticalliving.blogspot.com VERSUS blogspot.com (notice how they're very different web sites?)
-
IMPACT: The keywords LOOSELY affect the particular page you're on
-
WHY: The subdomain is the site that you're currently in. This is like the "house" you're in. This gives Google clues about what your entire website is about.
-
**This is what you're asking about in. **
-
Domain-level
-
Don't worry about this. It's not really relevant
Here is why you should still do it
- The more keywords you place on all your web pages, the more information Google's crawler will have
- The more Google's crawler knows about your website, the more confidence it will have to rank you for targeted keywords
- This is just one piece of the SEO work that you need to do -- part of the basic steps.
- However, it won't lift your rankings. The way I think about it is that it will simply make it a stronger candidate for the keywords when you start getting links from other subdomains with the same keywords.

Thanks for your answer Chris. I link to my homepage from all of my pages in my website. My purpose is to get more traffic to my homepage to some specific keywords and I don't know how to get it except of writing quality content in my homepage with those keywords.
Can you suggest me on this issue?
-
Rephael,
That's not going to do much for your homepage search results. It may help a bit more, however, if you link to your homepage from those other pages with those keywords--but only a bit, if at all.

Wordpress SEO: Category page + Product page or only category page?
Trying to improving my website's ranks on google for a specific keyword (e.g. Samsung S6), I'm thinking about doing some experiments. I've a wordpress based blog. Now, I've the category "Samsung S6" (url: example.com/samsung-s6), with only the latest 6 news (with excerpts) + pagination. This ranks good, but it's a bit ugly as a landing page and I want a better rank. I could improve this page by customizing the template and adding some static text, but it could be a time-consuming solution considering that I'm using a third party theme and I should check this every update. Also, it's harder to customize this page then the next solution: I'm thinking about creating a new page Samsung S6 (url: example.com/samsungs6). This page will contain a product overlay (e.g. RAM, HD, screen size etc.), + product description with features and a small review of it's elements (e.g. camera description with results, suggested applications etc.) + some images/youtube videos + latest 6 news (without excerpts) + some links to other relevant pages in my website for that product, including a link to the category page. What will happen in terms of SEO? Any idea if the new page could rank better than the category page, considering that it has more static elements? Not sure if google could detects duplicates, or two page comepting for the same keyword on the same website is a bad thing. Which are your ideas? Is it ok to have two pages competing for the same keyword on the same website?

Optimizing Webpages for Keywords- Using Text Links to Distribute Internal Page Rank
My Manhattan based commercial real estate firm hired an SEO firm. The company conducted a content audit, created a keyword matrix and suggested optimizing 51 pages for specific keywords. A specific price per page was quoted, which I understand and accept. I was under thought that setting up internal text links to redistribute page rank and thereby improve ranking for competitive terms was included in the price. But this task was not included in their quote. I really want to avoid getting nickeled and dimed to death. Should this cost be included, or legitimately is setting up the internal link structure something that is an additional expense? If this task is legitimately an extra, how labor intensive is it? A lit bit of extra time when re-writing pages or a completely different task that would be quite time consuming? Also, I believe the flow of page rank within a site can have a big effect on ranking, so setting up internal links is critical. Are these assumptions correct? For some background, www.nyc-officespace-leader.com gets 4,500 organic visits per month. Google Page Rank is 2 and the site was hit by Panda in 2012 but has partially recovered. I would really appreciate some insight from the MOZ community. I do not want to pay too much or too little for these services. THANKS, Alan

Keywords and Rank Checker Tool
Two questions about checking the rank of keywords. The easiest way to say this is by example. I have a keyword that SEOMOZ ranks on google in the 32nd position but when I look for that keyword in Google it's nowhere to be found (it's buried deep in the results pages somewhere). Where does SEOMOZ get its keyword results from? How do I non-localize my browser so I can see "global" keyword results? Is there such a thing? thanks in advance.

Keyword Difficulty: High or Low?
Looked in the FAQ in the Keyword Difficulty tool but it didn't mention whether or not a higher % or lower % is better. I'm assuming that a higher % means that the keyword is more competitive, is that correct?
