Did anyone Rankings drop massively last weekend ...Is this new google update ?

Hi all,
My Site rankings took a battering in the past week , From what I have read, I know that google have updated their algorithm and supposedly it only affects less than 1% of queries but I was very surprised to have fallen in that list...
Just wondered, am i the only site to have been hammered this past week ? or is it more of a case that maybe the new algorithm means I need to be more savvy with our SEO.
Just posting a quick general consensus question ...

Our traffic had gone down a little bit earlier in June but ....
We first got an message on 22nd June - in GWT - Googlebot found an extremely high number of URLs on your site.
Then on 26th June , 80% of our rankings for our keywords fell off a cliff. We don't know if it was the refresh from the panda update or if it was the google bot problem.
We have never had this message beforebut noticed we had some dodgy urls being produced from our site. We don't know how long this has been going on for but wasnt sure if either the googlebot changed it's way of working or we just so happenned for the Panda refresh to happen a couple of days after the message.
I would have thought that our rankings would have suffered on 11th June if it was the Panda that done it.
In the meantime, we have put 301 redirects on the dodgy urls

Did you lose your rankings on 1 particular day or did it happen over a few? Did you get an unnatural links notice in Google Webmaster Tools? Did you lose your rankings for all keywords or just a few you had been working on? Did you get knocked back to page 2 or just lose some rankings but remained on Page 1?
Sorry, but all these questions are a part of the diagnosis of what caused the rankings loss.

To update or not to update news URLs ?
We manage a huge daily news website in my small country - keeping this a bit mysterious in case competitors are reading 🙂 Our URL structure is www.companyname.com/news/categoryofnews/title-of-article?id=articleid In this hyperreactive news world, title of articles change frequently (may be ten times a day for the main stories). The question we debate is : should we reflect the modification of the title in the URL or not ? Example : "Trump says he wants to ban search engines" would have URL http://www.companyname.com/news/entertainment/Trump-says-he-wants-to-ban-search-engines?id=12345678 Later in the day the title becomes "Trump denies he suggested banning search engines". Should the URL be modified to http://www.companyname.com/news/entertainment/Trump-denies-he-suggested-banning-search-engines?id=12345678 (option A) or not (option B) ? In Google News it makes no difference because of the sitemap, but in Google organic things are different. At present (option B in place), Google apparently doesn't see that the article has been updated, and shows the initial timestamp which is visually (and presumably SEOwise) not good : our new news looks like old news. Modifiying the URL would solve that issue, but could, may be, create another one : the new URL, being considered a new article, would lose, the acquired weight of the previous one in terms of referrals, social trafic and so on. Losing Page Rank
Hello Moz I launched a re-design of our site over the summer and we jumped in organic search for some keywords. Recently one of our landing pages is being hammered by Google last we we lost one position this week we lost 5 positions. Although, when I check the on-page grade Moz gives it an A is there a check sheet anyone has that I could go through to see if I have any common problems. Ryan

Why am I ranking on both Bing and Yahoo and yet the rankings are declining on Google
I'm seeing ranking go up on both Bing and Yahoo and yet they are going down on Google. I did see a bunch of spammy links show up about a month ago but have managed to get all those taken down although did not get any warnings from Google in Webmaster tools about them was more of a preemptive measure. Why isn't our site being shown on the first page of Google for a query using the exact domain, when its pages are indeed indexed by Google
When I type our domain.com as a query into Google, I only see one of our pages on the homepage, and it's in 4th position. It seems though, that all pages of the site are indexed by google when I type in the query "site:domain.com". There was an issue at the site launch, where the robots.txt file was left active for around two weeks. Would this have been responsible for the fact that another domain ranks #1 when we type in our own domain? It has been around a couple of months now since the site was launched. Thanks in advance.

Replacing website, same URL, lose ranking
We had to do a rush job for a client and get a website up very quickly. We had to just replace the existing files on the server, but URL stayed the same. Now "teeth whitening glasgow" which they were number #1 for isn't coming up. Know there is still some on page work to be done - but the link profile should still remain the same? Just looking for some advice to get back to where they were - should we do a website change of address or just verify the site in Webmaster and get all the on page done? Thanks, Laura

How long should I wait before making changes to my new site in order to increase ranking?
I just create a site www.autoinsurancefremontca.com. It has been about a week since this site has been launched. The site currently resides at 12th position on google. With Semoz it has a Site Grade Of "A" . When should I start making changes to the site like adding a content as an example to increase my ranking. I am trying to get this site on the first page with google. Please help!!

Strange Keywords Google Webmaster Tools
Hey, I have a website about "coffee machines". Since a few months I added a vBulletin forum with vbSEO installed. The keywords Google found before I added the forum where highly related to the topic of my website (e.g. "coffee", "machine" etc), which I checked through the webmaster tools. However, I recently checked again and noticed that Google finds mostly keywords like "post", "forum", "thread", "share" etc. with high significance. Those "keywords" only appear on the forum. Now I'm a bit worried since Google states "These should reflect the subject matter of your site." Any advice how to solve that issue? Thanks!

When the keyword rankings trend south…?
So for the past 3 or 4 weeks or so I’ve been making some on page tweaks for keywords that we should rank for, implementing all the keyword recommendations, and getting “A’s” in the report card for page optimization in the Pro tool, and also doing things like fixing a bunch of 404’s that I found ….so I thought I was doing a bang up job… My rankings for some keywords were generally trending (slowly) in the right direction, but this morning I see that 2 important keywords that I had been working hard on, and which had trended from around 40 to in the high 20’s in rankings, has now dropped out of top 50 altogether…. I’m a little dispirited, and now wondering if I did something wrong? Any thoughts or recommendations? Is it normal just to drop out of top 50 when you were in the 20's or 30's? Thanks!
