Link quality

Hi,
Having read dozens of your blogs and found them highly informative, i have to ask a question.
I am kicking oout our SEO company and have taken over the SEO myself with some excellent results. Our SEO providers tell me that links from any site (irrelevent of their DA) are good, providing they are comming from a relevant source. We are in the security industry and according to MOZ, we have a DA of 52. If i can get a link to our site from another company in our industry but they have a DA of 10, is this really beneficial for me? Info i have read in Moz blogs suggest it is n ot a good idea.
Please help.
many thanks

Hi Karl,
Thank you too!
Both you and Matt have cleared this up for me. Essentially providing the link is relevant and from a relevant source, it's useful irrespective of rankings to a greater or lesser degree.
Very few people in the UK security sector use social media. I have been looking at it, but just don't see it working for us as there is not enough people using it.
Have a great day.

When you are looking to post content or get links from anywhere, look at the potential of the website as well as the stats. Yes, it is really good if they have a high DA and PA because it will tell you that it is an established website but it is not the be all and end all. Look at the social presence of a website/blog, whether they tweet the story or post it on facebook, look at how many posts they have made and how regularly they are posting and what they are posting about. This will tell you much more about the blog/website.
If you are really interested in posting then why not ask them how many readers, sign ups, followers, visits etc they have/get because if your post is just going to sit on a website and nobody reads it then your time is best spent elsewhere. So a blog maybe new and therefore only has a DA of 10, but they may have many followers and a high readership count so the post will be useful.

If they're in your industry it's not going to do you any harm. But from a low authority site it's not going to a huge amount of good either!
So if it's going to take several hours of time to get them to agree to link, it's probably not worth the effort. If it's a 10 minute of email back and forth, go for it.
Never discount a link if it's a company site though - it's not quite the same as a dodgy seo directory of everything - a directory is never going to get better authority for the page linking. A company site may grow in stature as they work their own site and seo efforts, so in a year or two the link might have significantly more weight.
Likewise, never discount the human, rather than purely seo, value of a link - if it's a company in your industry, it might attract actual, interested, visitors.

Buy domain, redirect, get all the good links (+link juice) and disavow the spammy ones?
There is a domain for sale that has a quite nice profile and a lot of good backlinks, but also quite a few spammy ones. This domain has a Spam Score of 14% acc. to Moz Link explorer, ours has only 2%. My questions: 1. The domain and the good backlinks are related to or close to our content/keywords. But we are worried whether the "spammy" ones will hurt us. Does anyone has experience with this? 2. Would it help if we disavow the spammy backlinks afterwards? And if so, how do we do that? Add new domain to search console, disavow the bad links and then redirect the entire domain to our domain or redirect the domain first and then disavow from our property? Many thanks for your help!

Links from PRWeb press release violate Google's quality guidelines?
My site has had a manual action performed on it by Google indicating that I have inbound links that fall outside of their quality guidelines. I did my own research, found what I thought was the issue, had the links removed and requested reconsideration. Google's response surprised me in that they highlighted two specific pages with links that were the direct result of valid press releases and a publisher picking up our release off a wire service. Has anyone else seen this occur? Anyone had a case successfully reconsidered? I realize that I don't need to do anything at all as the manual action is in effect and will stay that way, discounting those links, but I would rather a) not have any manual action against my site and b) know for the future so this doesn't happen again. Also, is this applicable for guest blog posts, which effectively create the same type of backlinks? Thanks

If i get link pointing to a specific page , will that link add up to the count of linking root domains too ?
If I create a fresh link pointing to specific page on my site, apart from adding a number to "page linking root domains" does it also add up to root domain linking ?

Reciprocal links
Are they worth anything, if they are from relevant sites? I'm I better off avoiding linking back wherever possible?

Back-link Quantity
Hi there, I am writing a post for a well respected blog in our industry. I'm debating on either to target 1 key-phrase in this post with an external back-link, or to go target 2-3 back-links in the post. Just a few questions on this: Would including 1 external back link be more beneficial than having 2 or 3 external back-links in the post? Kind Regards
