Does SEOmoz work for fully secure sites (https)?
-
We have created a large file sending service (https://digitalpigeon.com) and for obvious reasons we have secured the entire site (we used to have a trial file send form on the homepage so it made sense to secure everything with 301 redirects from http to https)
Because we, somewhat naively, started out with a memorable name and domain - Digital Pigeon - where all of our competitors just keyword stuffed their domains we don't really rank for any useful keywords yet.
For me, building domain authority via links is more important right now that any on page SEO that is going to be trumped by google's infatuation with domain keywords anyway.
Here's the problem though, it seems SEOmoz and even Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools all fail to take into account inbound links for both http and https for any reports or analysis!
I'm wondering if utilising SEOmoz PRO for keeping tabs on our MozRank is pointless if it's not accounting for all inbound links

Hi Jim! This is actually in the works as we speak! We should have OSE working with https in the next month or so.
-
Any updates on this? I noticed it was still not working, so wondering if we should look at other solutions.

Hi Stuart!
This is Megan from the SEOmoz Help Team. Your question is a great one! While we won't be able to crawl your site in OSE, we will be able to crawl links going to your site, which are used to calculate our metrics. So, in other words, the metrics in your competitive link analysis will be accurate. You can also check out www.opensiteexplorer.org for more details on these links.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks, I appreciate that OSE wont work for https but more importantly to me (and probably more a question for the SEOmoz team) are the link stats and therefor MozRank stats found in our Competitive Domain Analysis report accurate or do they exclude our https inbound links?
Or is it all one and the same, because Linkscape ignores https links all the tools making use of it are skewed by this limitation and I should perhaps save my $100/month for now until https in implemented?
-
The last I heard https support for OSE was planned for Q4 of 2012. Please refer to Adam's responses in these two posts:
http://www.seomoz.org/blog/one-giant-leap-for-link-data-announcing-open-site-explorer
https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/20770156-open-site-explorer-to-crawl-https
If you need to view https data now, you will need to use a different tool. I know AHREFs supports it: http://ahrefs.com

What is the correlation between the SEOMOZ PR number and where my site is showing up in an organic search?
For years, our company placed 3 or 4 in an organic search on Google for the keyword I am inquiring about. A couple of months ago, we went down to number 15. I then subscribed to SEOMOZ and began a concerted effort to improve our ranking for this keyword. Slowly, our listing came up higher in searches and on our reports- back onto the first page #8. Our weekly SEOMOZ reports reflected this improvement, but then it dropped down again to page 2, #11. My most recent report, this week, gave us a PR 8 for this keyword, but our listing is showing upon page 2, #11. I do have my personal search and browser history disabled. I am unclear as to why there is this discrepancy.

SeoMoz and incorrect results?
Just recieved my weekly Rankings and On Page report. First thing i noticed is that an important keyword dropped big time. "Rejser til Cypern" dropped from #3 to #40 ... So i checked google.dk myself (using impersonal.me) and saw i was still #3 in SERP. I ran SeoMoz's own Keyword Difficulty Report-tool. It showed me i was #3 in SERP. Now im thinking: Did i just loose my trust in Seomoz, to whom i give access to all my GA-data? What to do? Have anyone else experienced this?

On page links tool here at Seomoz
Hi Seomoz - first of all, thanks for the best SEO tools I have ever worked with (this is my first question in this forum, and also I just subscribed as a paying customer after the 30 days trial you guys offer). My question: After having worked for several weeks on getting the numbers of links in our forum on www.texaspoker.dk down, we are somewhat surprised to see that we didn't succeed in getting lower numbers. For instance, this page: http://www.texaspoker.dk/forum/aktuelle-konkurrencer/coaching-projekt-bliver-du-den-udvalgte has (that's what Seomoz seo tool tells us): 239 on page links. Can this really be true? We can't find these links, and we actuually did a lot to lower the numbers of links, for instance the forum members picture was a link before, and also there was a "go to top" link in each post in the forum. Thanks a lot.

Factoring in OBL to Open Site Explorer
Morning all - I've been using Open Site Explorer a fair bit since I signed up to SEOMoz a couple of months ago and found it to be a little different to other tools in the past, so would welcome some thoughts on what I should be looking for when I run reports. For example, I've always thought that Outbound links should be important when deciding whether to place a link on a a particular site, but in OSE I'm only given a Page Ranking and a Domain Ranking. Am I therefore to understand that these two factors outrank OBL and that the number of links on a page don't matter? Or have these been factored into the overall Page rank already? Thanks a lot for your help,

How do you use SEOmoz
I'm a newbie here. I've got a week left on my free trail. I really like SEOmoz, I might even love it a bit. 🙂 I'm trying to justify the cost. I usually don't spend money on my Internet Marketing. I've done it through finally buying some tools to help me get there. Massive change in the last year. I'm a long ways from getting rich YET though. 🙂 I've gone from $30 a month to $1000 a month in a year. So I think I'm on my way now. I'm trying to figure out why I should continue my subscription and actually start paying for it. If I were a developer I can certainly see why but the cost would so go way up. 🙂 I'm in the lowest level package with only five websites. I have 10 I'm working on. I know that's probably five to many at one time. I'm having a little trouble justifying the cost at this time. At my income level $100 a month is significant. I can see the value of seeing where my competition has backlinks. Sometimes my competition is Cnet. haha Well, I can beat them on a specific page at times. Hmm, can I search the URL list for links? Perhaps i can if I export it. That didn't occur to me. Now that could be of use if I can find my keywords. If their link is on Amazon though, I'm going to have trouble getting a link there. 🙂 Maybe I should work on less competitive links but I made good money last month with one page that was beating them. WAS beating them. How do you use SEOmoz? How do you justify the cost, that is offset the expense. If its not making me money i don't see the value. I can get a lot of this information for free but it sure is easier to get it here. Which saves me time. And the other tool i use isn't that good and not always reliable and slow. I've got a week left on my free trail. I had decided to let it go but now I'm reconsidering. $100 is a lot for me and I need to spend more on SEO outsourcing. I wonder if I wouldn't be better off dropping it for a while and then coming back. This certainly isn't mean to be a critical post at all. I'm looking for reasons to stay and make better use of it. Thanks for the thoughts, Rusty
