Does this count as a link?
-
Somebody listed me on their site with this link code
A Link Between Worlds Walkthrough
It does this weird redirect tracking thing to my site. Would that count as a link back to me?
-
Hi Noah,
The short answer is that a link that contains the rel="nofollow" attribute is not counted by Google and therefore, it wouldn't affect your rankings. You can read more on the official position of Google and nofollow here:
https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/96569?hl=en
Putting that to one side, the link itself is a little "messy" and it is plausible that it wouldn't count anyway even if it didn't have the nofollow attribute include. The reason for this is that it looks like the link is powered by JavaScript and when clicked on, the website pulls your URL from a database and sends the user to that URL. This is indicated by the "id=295" part of the link which indicates that you're listed in a database as entry 295 and the URL is pulled from that when clicked on.
Google crawlers are getting better and better at understanding links that are like this, but it is hard to know for sure if it would be counted if the nofollow attribute wasn't present.
I hope that helps a bit!
Paddy

Are you using WordPress? If so what it looks like they've done is a TrackBack name is cited something from your website on their blog and are trying to either get away with taking something or do the right thing I don't know you should follow up with it ASAP

Hello,
First of all, the link is a nofollow, which means that google crawlers (and other bots) will not follow this page. So it will not be counted as a backlink torward your site.
In terms of the actual url, I'm actually not sure wether or not this works. It depends on the way they redirect your url I guess.

Does reciprocal linking carry any value?
No matter how much I research this one, there's no definite answer and there's a lot of contradictions. Basically we're looking to launch an article on 24 expert interior design tips for 2015. Each tip is submitted from a different interior designer we have chosen who have a reputable, trusted website. The main goal for this article is to generate various inbound links for our site from the designers and it will help to create engagement on social media. Although if we're giving out links to these designers for their contributions, the inbound links we receive in return will be little or no value as this is reciprocal linking? Some say this is okay as it's completely natural within the blog posts, others say to avoid it as it can be seen as an obsolete practice to deceive Google. Does anyone have any more information on this and how it should be carried out? Would a better process be to link to their social media accounts? Rather than reciprocal linking? Thanks

Why are these internal pages not showing any internal links?
If you look at Author profile pages like this one, http://experts.allbusiness.com/author/denise-oberry (THE top contributor on the site with over 82 posts under her belt), or any Author profile page, they show zero internal links or Page Authority. The same goes for most posts for each author on the site. Author pages should show internal links from every post the author has on the site. And specific posts should also have internal links from categories, etc. Yet they show zero. The only posts that show internal links and PA are ones that were either syndicated to the root domain's homepage, or syndicated to Fox Small Business. ZERO internal links. Does anyone know why this is? The root domain does not act this way with Author pages and posts. And I see nothing blocking links or indexing via the robots.txt file or page level nofollow tags. A real head scratcher for this SEO nerd, that I'm sure someone here will have a really simple answer to.

Example of Google Indexing my Feedburner Links
As you can see, there are 2 results for the same page. One is the correct page URL, the other has the Feedburner parameters at the end: http://www.thewebhostinghero.com/articles/improving-user-engagement-with-the-right-blog-commenting-system.html http://www.thewebhostinghero.com/articles/improving-user-engagement-with-the-right-blog-commenting-system.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+thewebhostinghero+(TheWebHostingHero.com) Can this cause duplicate content issues? Can I prevent Google from indexing my Feedburner links? My Feedburner settings are already set to noindex, what else can I do?!? 22cfThX.png

Link juice and max number of links clarification
I understand roughly that "Link Juice" is passed by dividing PR by the number of links on a page. I also understand the juice available is reduced by some portion on each iteration. 50 PR page 10 links on page 5 * .9 = 4.5 PR goes to each link. Correct? If so and knowing Google stops counting links somewhere around 100, how would it impact the flow to have over 100 links? IE 50 PR page 150 links on the page .33 *.9 = .29PR to each link BUT only for 100 of them. After that, the juice is just lost? Also, I assume Google, to the best of its ability, organizes the links in order of importance such that content links are counted before footer links etc.
