Product Tag Pages - Shopify

My website is Sportiqe.com. We sell t-shirts and use Shopify.
We're finding that Google is assigning a higher than normal (normal being "1") page authority ranking on our product tag pages (ie - Products Tagged "knicks").
Would it make sense to do 301 redirects for these product tag pages to the Product pages we want to rank for? (ie - would we do a 301 redirect for a page called "Products Tagged 'Knicks'" to our "New York Knicks Shirts" page?)
OR
Would it make sense to change these Product Tag Page titles to another key term to have multiple search results (assuming that ordering the products in a different way would eliminate any Duplicate Page Content issues?) For example, renaming the page title from "Products Tagged Knicks" to "TAG NAME | Sportiqe Apparel"

1. If the tag page has one or more external links then you should redirect it to send that pagerank to the collections page. Otherwise it's probably not worth the effort.
2. You shouldn't add a "no follow" tag to the product tag pages, but you should add a "no index" tag. Preferably it would be "noindex, follow".
3. Yes you should include the collections links on your product pages. If you have too many links on a page there are other less important links to get rid of.
Also, since you're going to be sending pagerank into category pages (i.e. collection pages) you should look into putting a short, unique, helpful category description on those pages. You'd be amazed at how much this helps category pages rank for short and mid-tail keywords if you get just a couple of decent external links to them too.

Thanks for the thoughtful advice Everett! I went into Shopify as you suggested and discovered that not only could you hide all tags from product pages (without deleting them, which is important because this is how our products are categorized on the backend), but you could display the collections a particular t-shirt belongs to instead of the product tags.
See here for an example of a t-shirt with collections displayed instead of product tags.
If I'm understanding the power of internal links, this should help increase the pagerank for our t-shirt collections (which is where we ultimately want to drive people).
A couple of follow up questions...

Should we now redirect tag pages to relevant collections so the PR transfers? (ie - redirect the "knicks" tag to the New York Knicks T-Shirts page?)

Or, should we add no follow tags to all of our product tag pages?

My first choice would be to stop using the tags altogether. If you need a few for legitimate sub-categories then you can just limit it to those few, but otherwise it's just a mess. You can read about how to remove tags on this Shopify help page. Any tag page that had external links (probably very few, if any) should get 301 redirected if you do this.
You could also choose to noindex,follow or robots.txt block the /all/ folder to keep those pages from being indexed if you want to leave them up for visitors (do they 'really' use them?).
Google is probably assigning value to those pages because of your internal links, which appear on every product page. It would be better to link to categories and other products instead, thus sending pagerank where you want it to go.
You could leave the links up and redirect the tag pages, as per your original question, but I feel that would be addressing the symptom (PR going into tag pages) rather than the cause (links to tag pages on the site).

Personally I would 301 the tag page "Products Tagged 'Knicks'" to the "New York Knicks Shirts" collections page . The only issue I can think of is that , will the collections be updated over time to add all the new items that might be potentially tagged as Knicks ?
So perhaps it might be better to keep the tag page for Knicks as the go to page for " Knicks TShirts ". You can edit the tag template to add custom banners and descriptions and I would also change the h1 tag on the tag page to say something more relevant than just " PRODUCTS "

Should I even do product page schema?
If I have no reviews/ratings on the page itself and special/limited time offers and just a regular product page with a standard price, is there any ability to do product schema with it getting flagged for errors? Google's Structured Markup Testing Tool threw me an error when I test it without any of those: | One of offers or review or aggregateRating should be provided. | And even if it's possible, is there any point?

Outside Top 10 Even though - Higher Domain/Page Authority/Higher On Page Grade
Hi, Note: this is for Australian search results - for people in Perth.

The website is: http://thedj.com.au I am trying to optimise for the keyword 'perth wedding dj', but also 'wedding dj perth' and for some reason my website isn't even in the top 10 results. Here is what's weird though: My on-page grade with the On-Page Grader for the keyword 'wedding DJ perth' is an 'A' for http://thedj.com.au (http://awesomescreenshot.com/0135135hca) When checking the Keyword Difficulty in the Google Australia search enginge for 'wedding DJ perth' - there are 4 results which have a lower domain authority than 15 (in fact one result has a domain authority of 1) - http://awesomescreenshot.com/03f5134zd1 http://thedj.com.au has a Domain Authority of 23/100 and a Page Authority of 34/100. (http://awesomescreenshot.com/0bb5134tb8) So seeing as the page has gotten an A for on-page optimisation for the keyword 'wedding DJ Perth' and has a higher domain authority then many results in the top 10... why isn't it in the Top 10?! Bonus Question:
Why is DJ Avi showing up at the top of search results (Local listing) depsite the fact that:
a) He has no website to link to
b) No reviews for his listing
c) No keywords that I can see (other than the fact that he's a DJ)

H3 Tags - Should I Link to my content Articles- ? And do I have to many H3 tags/ Links as it is ?
Hello All, On my ecommerce landing pages, I currently have links to my products as H3 Tags. I also have useful guides displayed on the page with links useful articles we have written (they currently go to my news section). I am wondering if I should put those article links as additional H3 tags as well for added seo benefit or do I have to many tags as it is ?. A/B Testing - Should I add product descriptions on my category landing pages as well as on product pages and if so . how to do this to avoid duplicate content
Hi All, I recently relaunched a new design on my tool hire eCommerce website and now display my products in grid form on my category landing pages as opposed to just a list view which we previously had on the old design. My bounce rates are alot higher than they use to be and my gut instinct is telling me maybe this is wrong . I want to do some a/b testing using a list view. My question is , previously in our list views we just showed the images and pricing and had on page content on the bottom of the page. The user would click on the product image and they would then we taken to the product page which has the product description , t&c, etc etc.. If I was to do this in my a/b testing but change it so we also displayed the product descriptions as well on the category landing pages . Is there a special way to do this as in effect, we would have duplicate content as the product descriptions are also on the product page?. Does anyone have any thoughts on this as to whether its a No No from an SEO point of view ?... Why Google is not showing right title tags of my website inner pages?

An affiliate website uses datafeeds and around 65.000 products are deleted in the new feeds. What are the best practises to do with the product pages? 404 ALL pages, 301 Redirect to the upper catagory?
Note: All product pages are on INDEX FOLLOW. Right now this is happening with the deleted productpages: 1. When a product is removed from the new datafeed the pages stay online and are showing simliar products for 3 months. The productpages are removed from the categorie pages but not from the sitemap! 2. Pages receiving more than 3 hits after the first 3 months keep on existing and also in the sitemaps. These pages are not shown in the categories. 3. Pages from deleted datafeeds that receive 2 hits or less, are getting a 301 redirect to the upper categorie for again 3 months 4. Afther the last 3 months all 301 redirects are getting a customized 404 page with similar products. Any suggestions of Comments about this structure? 🙂 Issues to think about:

Best Strategy to display 8mg Images on Product Pages for Ecommerce
I have an ecommerce store that has a variety of images including some super high quality images that are 8 mg. This style of image could be completed for hundreds of products in the store. Does anyone have any tips on what I should be watching out for here? Is 8 mg too unusable?
