Does anyone have experience with ecinity.com as a vehicle for populating local search directories? If yes, how would you rank it as a competitor to Localeze and UBL?
-
I've been approached by the company to use their tool. It has functionality beyond just populating local data sources which I'm not concerned with. I just want to know how it ranks in terms of local directory coverage. They claim 85% of the local directories will be populated.

You're welcome, Donna. Sorry not to have more direct advice. A couple of things I noticed about ecinity that didn't thrill me right off the bat was the fact that it seems to be still in Beta, it's asking for my email for me to see what the tool does and the About page is really unspecific. To be fair, looks like they are just getting started and they could turn out to be a super service in future, but if they are already marketing the business and attempting to engage business owners like you, the welcome I'm receiving hitting the site isn't making me immediately comfortable. Again, I know nothing negative about the company whatsoever, and this could turn out to be great, but for now, I don't feel instant confidence. I'm sure they'll improve in the future when they are out of Beta.
Have a good weekend!
Miriam

Thank you Miriam. I was hoping you'd pipe in.

Hi Donna,
Unfortunately, I don't have direct experience with ecinity.com. I believe that's a pretty new service, so there just may not be that much feedback out there about them yet. Between Localeze and UBL, I have repeatedly heard local colleagues make statements of preference for Localeze, while at the same time stating that there just isn't a replacement for careful, manual submission. For my own clients, I've always gone the manual route, but at an agency level, many Local SEOs do find these automation tools to be good time savers.
Sorry not to have an experienced opinion on ecinity. I'll leave your question as unanswered in case one of our members has actually put this tool into practice.
Miriam

Good Example of Local Pages With Multiple Services
Can I get a site that is well optimized and has a good landing page for a business that serves multiple regions with multiple services. For example they may have construction and mold removal services and serve Indianapolis, Columbus Ohio, Louisville Ky.

Acxiom, Localeze, and Infogroup
Are Acxiom, Localeze, and Infogroup the main players when it comes to syndicating local citations? When you add your information to them, how long does it normally take to start showing up in all the other directories? Also, are there any other major players like Acxiom, Localeze, and Infogroup you'd suggest submitting a business to?

Google categories for local limousine service
I manage the Google places page for a SAB (local limousine company). The question is, should I add "taxi" and "airport shuttle service" as categories? I have listed only "limousine" and "car service' for now and I want to play it safe although those 2 are related to limo service. Sometimes people refer to limo service as "taxi service" or they are inquiring about prices for shuttle service to the airport and they end up booking the service quite often. Does Google look to our website to find these words in the content? Google Analytics show lots of people are finding us through those two keywords as well although you cannot find the word “taxi" on our website. The interesting thing is that when searching for "taxi + my zip code" the company shows up 4th on maps results and when searching for "shuttle service + my zip code”, the company shows up 2nd on local results and also 2nd in organic results. Is this enough to make me add these 2 categories? Second question is about the area served, does it make a difference (in rankings) if I choose “Distance from one location"over"List of areas served"? What happens is the red pin would be in a different location. If I choose "Distance from one location" the pin would be right in the center of the city (which I think it shouldn't matter anymore that much since the proximity to the centroid is not a ranking factor anymore). If “list of area” served is selected, (the city name will be chosen) then the pin would be about 5 miles West of the city center. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thank you!

Additional listings in directories
Hi Everyone, I have been listing our website on various directories . We have a total of 70 stores though out New Zealand and I was wondering if there are any additional SEO benefits from listing each of the 70 stores and including the web link. Or will Google not acknowledge the additional links from the same site? Thanks, Pete

Does displaying a mobile number for business hurt local SEO?
Perhaps a silly question but could someone please clarify if displaying a mobile number in the main site or Google places etc would hurt local SEO? Is having a regional landline/fixed telephone number a ranking factor? EDIT: This is for a UK site, does anyone have experience of this is UK please?

Timeline For Local Prospect
Hi Mozzers, I need a judgement. I've been approached by a deck building company whose business is local. They do have an existing web site, but almost no content or indexed content. Their visibility online is very close to zero. They are also a seasonal business, with people getting interested in decks from April through June by which time they would be expecting a result. There is one very large competitor and many smaller ones. This gives me 6 months, starting from very close to scratch. Would you take it on? Discussion and debate welcome.

Australian Service that Allows you to Control all your Local Listings
Hey, After a few stumbles upon a variety of services that allows you to manage all your local listings from the one profile (the latest one was Yext.com). It got me thinking - is there an Australian equivalent? My research revealed nothing. Thanks.

Anyone heard of...
I am thinking about hiring this company to do SEO work for 3 months (minimum contract). Anything I should be aware of? Questions I should ask? (calling them back today) There are so many people out there claiming to be the best that it is overwhelming - especially with the overall cost involved. The company was started by Peter R********? Supposedly the "SEO Godfather." Any help is greatly appreciated!
