Will this affect the local SEO listings in Google?
-
So, I'm trying to list the same exact address across all local listings for a client. How "exact" do they all need to match in order for them to be optimized for the 7-pack listings?
Here is an example of what I'm dealing with...
999 Cherry Ln #1 Dallas, TX 75238 - Address on Google Plus page
999 Cherry Ln Ste 1, Dallas, TX 75238 - Address on every other business listing
Is this close enough or is this inconsistency really hurting this client?

You're welcome, Clint. If the listing is new, that could certainly be a contributing factor. In the meantime, the client should be doing all he can to strengthen his website and citations and begin getting reviews. All of these will contribute to his hoped-for climb up the ranks. Good luck!

It is actually a fairly new page -- that could be it.
Thanks

Hi Clint,
If the client is failing to rank for core terms, you may need to do a full audit. Unfortunately, without seeing the listings myself, I can't offer further insight. As you know, local search rankings are based on hundreds of factors, so the client's issues may stem from so many different things, from age of the listings, to citation issues, to violations, penalties, merges, duplicates, etc.
I would first make sure that the client isn't violating any of the Google Places Quality Guidelines: https://support.google.com/places/answer/107528?hl=en
And then, if Local is relatively new to you, study the most recent Local Search Ranking Factors survey: http://moz.com/local-search-ranking-factors
Achieving ranking dominance in Local depends on all of the ducks being in a row. I do doubt that what you are describing could result in ranking failures because, as I've said, Google should understand that those two elements are the same, but there could be other elements that are off, and only an in-depth dive can surface these.

Thanks for the response Miriam. My real concern is that my client actually isn't in the 7-pack listings for hardly anything.
I thought it probably had to do with the address differences. When I take the two address examples and search them in Google (address in quotes and business name listed beside it), here are the number of results that Google shows...
Address on Google Plus page...
"999 Cherry Ln #1 Dallas, TX 75238" Business Name
2 results
Address on all other listings...
"999 Cherry Ln Ste 1, Dallas, TX 75238" Business Name
3,280,000 results
I figured that Google wasn't listing us in the 7-pack listings because it only has those 2 results/pages for that particular address.

Good question, Clint. I would not be concerned about the particular variance you've mentioned. Google should understand that # and Ste are the same thing.
What would be a problem is if you left the suite number off some of the listings. That could cause problems. But what you've described should be fine.

I submitted Sitemaps from AIO SEO to google search console, if I now delete the AIO plugin, do my sitemaps become invalid?
I use Yoast as SEO for my new Wordpress website https://www.satisfiedshoes.com/, however I couldn't get the sitemaps with Yoast as it was giving me error 404, and regardless of what I tried, it wasn't working. So I then got the All In One SEO while still having Yoast installed, I easily got the AIO sitemaps and then submitted them successfully to the Google search console. My question is that now I got the sitemaps on Google, since I'd rather use Yoast, If I want to delete AIO, will the sidemaps given to Google become invalid? There is no point keeping both SEO plugins active right? Thank You

Does using a reverse proxy to make a subdomain appear as a subdirectory affect SEO?
Using a reverse proxy only makes it appear that a subdomain is really a subfolder. However, links in the end remain the same. Does this have any negative (or positive) impact on SEO? Does it make it difficult from the blog's (subdomain's) sitemap or robots.txt file to be properly read by search engines?

Will unused/dead pages within my site that is non-linked hurt my seo?
For example my website has mysite.com/randomunusedpage.html No links go into that page from the website but it is published (came with the WP theme). Will that hurt my SEO and should I delete the page or is it harmless? Thanks

Product listing adverts affect on organic
After reading there will be a drop down arrow on product listing adverts, which will push organic results down to display 16 products: http://searchengineland.com/google-testing-pla-expansion-to-show-16-product-listing-ads-166942?utm_source=twbutton&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=tweet I wondered how badly this is going to affect anyone in organic e-commerce? is this going to be rolled out for every term and have a drop down arrow for each one? Is organic going to die with e-commerce now? Thoughts much appreciated.

Why are Google search results different if you are log'd into Google or not?
I get different results when I'm log'd into my Google account associated with my website than if I'm not. The same country is occurring. So how can I rely on the google results I'm seeing? For instance my site is page 1 with the improvements I made based on SEOMOZ if I'm log'd in. Yet I'm not on the first 25 pages if I'm not logged in.

Google Links
I am assuming that the list presented by Google Webmaster tools (TRAFFIC | Links To Your Site) is the one that will actually be used by Google for indexing ? There seem to be quite a few links that there that should not be there. ie Assumed NOFOLLOW links. Am I working under an incorrect assumption that all links in webmaster tools are actually followed ?

How do you do this and how do you know if it's already being done? If it has not been done on a site is it hard to go back and do? I understand this is important from a site load time issue Thanks, Bill P.S. Can anyone recommend a resource where I can learn proper html coding for SEO? Thank you!

Google Local Results and URL Titles
After searching for (city name) (business type) a number of my competitor's sites come up with the title of their web page as the results (including geographic descriptors). However, my site is listed by name and does not reflect our URL title. How is this possible (did someone manually change the title of our listing?) and how can I change this back so that the title includes a geo descriptor? Do I simply edit the listing under google places or will this have a negative effect on our rankings?
