Can the Moz tool identify variations of a Chinese language branded keyword?
-
We've recently started a trial of the Moz Pro service and are tracking a selection of keywords. Our primary band / product name is 功夫英语(Kungfu English), so we've set a rule that any keywords containing those four Chinese characters (功夫英语) should be marked as a branded keyword. However, in the "Non-Paid Keywords Sending Search Visits" section of our traffic report, we see a few variations on our brand name that are not being marked as branded keywords. (See attached Images). Based on our rules, shouldn't these variations also be marked as branded keywords without our needing to manually add them as such? Or have I misunderstood the intent of this rule?
For the English text, the brand rule about words containing "kungfuenglish" seems to have resulted in all of "www.kungfuenglish.com", "http://www.kungfuenglish.com", and kungfuenglish being labelled as branded keywords. However, I'm not seeing the same sort of result with variations on the Chinese keyword, 功夫英语.

Hi Chiaryn, thanks for your help. My original question might not have communicated the problem very well, so I'll try to clarify it here. I think the algorithm is working for the English words, but it seems not to be working for the Chinese words.
I have set a contains rule around the following Chinese keyword: 功夫英语. Based on my understanding of how the rules work, that should mean that the following variations of that keyword are also marked as branded keywords.
- 功夫英语官网
- 功夫英语怎么样
- 功夫英语网站
- 功夫英语视频
The problem is that these variations are not appearing as branded keywords in my traffic report.
In terms of work arounds, I guess I could add each individual variation as a new keyword to be tracked (and mark it as a branded keyword), or I could add a new brand rule for each variation. However, since there are limits on both the number of brand rules and the number of keywords I can track, I'm hoping for an algorithmic solution
Thanks again for your interesting in helping. I'm really enjoying the trial of the Moz service and hope that we can solve this problem. Also, if it's a Chinese language issue, I'd be happy to help out. It's a growing internet market and I suspect that more Moz community members will be dealing with Chinese sites in the future.

Hey Paul,
The brand rule you have set up is considered a "contains" rule, which means that any keyword that is sending you traffic that includes the characters 功夫英语 would be included in the branded traffic, but it would not translate those characters into English, so we wouldn't be showing traffic from any keywords containing kungfu english or kungfuenglish through that rule. You would have to add individual English language keywords to your keywords list and then add a brand rule for the English version of the keywords in order for those to be counted in your branded traffic.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Chiaryn

Thanks Moosa. If there is no algorithm to detect the variations, then I'll either just add more brand rules or further exact matches for keywords.

Keywords that you are going to add in the section of branded keywords will be appear under the braded keywords banner i don’t think they have the algorithm to detect the variations of the brand name and add under the braded keywords column automatically!
My answer is based on my experience as a user but I guess any staff member can help you better in this regard!

Can Moz Keyword Explorer help target keywords for Google Images results?
I'm wondering if I can use Keyword Explorer (or maybe another tool?) to target keywords for image rankings. I'd like to play around with optimizing images so that they appear in search results and thus provide traffic - but wasn't sure the best way to track that kind of progress. My ultimate goal is to analyze the difficulty of ranking for a certain keyword via Google images. (I do know to optimize alt tag/title tag/place in relevant article etc, but wanted to know if I could research the difficulty). Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Moz Crawler not Identifying all Duplicate Pages
On two recent site crawls (9/27/14 and 11/4/14) for duplicate content the Moz tool did not ID the following 2 pages, which are 100% duplicate to each other: http://www.hooksandlattice.com/planter-hampton-241212.html ; Screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/DdwWroUU http://www.hooksandlattice.com/planter-hampton-721212.html ; Screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/8Lb1cJZmGrhX As I'm working feverishly to re-write and update the site (goal is ZERO duplicates) I'm finding it challenging to use the Moz tool to get the project done. Does anyone have any feedback or help they can provide for how I can identify all duplicate pages associated with my domain? Thank you! Lindsey Pfeiffer
