Help With Duplicated Content
-
Hi Moz Community,
I am having some issue's with duplicated content, i recently removed the .html from all of our links and moz has reported it as being duplicated.
I have been reading up about Canonicalization and would to verify some details, when using the
canonical
tag would it be placed in the /mywebpage.html or /mywebpage file?I am having a hard time to sort this out so any help from you SEO experts would be great
I have also updated my htaccess file with the following
Thanks in advance

Hi Tom,
Thanks so much for your prompt reply, i will get those tags updated and await some help with the 301.
Is there anyone who could maybe help me out with the 301 redirect?
Thanks again

Hi there Alec
Regarding the canonical tag:
The tag you want to use should be the page that you want to keep, be identified as the original and want Google to rank. From what I gather, that would be this page: http://www.bereavementstationery.co.uk/funeral-order-of-service
Therefore, on that page, you should have a canonical tag pointing to http://www.bereavementstationery.co.uk/funeral-order-of-service - and on every subsequent duplicate page, you should have the same tag.
The tag effectively instructs Google to say "these other pages are duplicate versions of this URL, so I'm going to ignore those versions, not flag them as a problem, and just promote the original URL. What's the original URL? Here it is, it's http://www.bereavementstationery.co.uk/funeral-order-of-service"
Sometimes making a robot appear human actually helps, ha!
An even better solution, which I believe you're trying to implement, would be to 301 redirect all of the URLs containing .html to their equivalent page without the .html extension in the URL. Not only does this remove the duplicate content problem, but it will also pass the SEO strength of the pages to the new one.
Unfortunately, I'm not qualified to help you there - don't want to recommend the wrong thing and mess up the .htaccess file! Hopefully someone more proficient in .htaccess redirects will come along and help you out there.
Hope my canonical explanation helps though!

Dynamic links & duplicate content
Hi there, I am putting a proposal together for a client whose website has been optimised to include many dynamic links and so there are many pages with duplicate content: only the page title, h1 and URL is different. My client thinks this isn't an issue. What is the current consensus on this? Many thanks in advance.

Form Only Pages Considered No Content/Duplicate Pages
We have a lot of WordPress sites with pages that contain only a form. The header, sidebar and footer content is the same as what's one other pages throughout the site. Each form page has a unique page title, meta description, form title and questions but the form title, description and questions add up to probably less than 100 words. Are these form pages negatively affecting the rankings of our landing pages or being viewed as duplicate or no content pages?

WordPress - duplicate content
I'm using WordPress for my website. However, whenever I use the post section for news, I get a report back from SEOmoz saying that there's duplicate content. What it does is it posts them in the Category and Archive section. Does anyone know if Google sees this as duplicate content and if so how to stop it? Thanks

Duplicate Page Titles and Keywords
Still new to this SEO world, so please bear with me. I have an eCommerce site so one of the issues is duplicate content and page titles. So what I was thinking was this...for each product that I sell I have 4 or 5 keywords that I have targeted. For example for personalized iPhone cases I have decided on: iphone 4 case personalized, monogrammed iphone 4 case, personalized and monogrammed iphone case, preppy phone case, personalized iPhone case, monogrammed iPhone case For each of my products I was going to a product description (ie: trendy color block diagonal stripes) and a targeted keyword. But I was going to rotate the keywords through so as to try to avoid the duplicate page title issue. Will that help? Thanks much, Shara

Why does SEOmoz use /blog/content-title vs /category/content-title? Any difference?
Assume a brand new blog being designed and all other things equal. What are the pros & cons between using the url structure /blog/content-title vs. /category/content-title? Note:
