Hello
I am in the process of cleaning a site and getting less pages cached.
it is a magento site and I was wondering what is your advice fo pages that get this
padded to the link ?material=139&price=10%2C12 accept the obvious canonical?
thanks

It's really tough for us to tell what those parameters do, so you have to be careful. Just because a URL has certain parameters doesn't mean it's a duplicate. If these really are duplicate or near duplicate pages, you've got a few options:
(1) Consolidate them with rel-canonical
(2) Block them with META NOINDEX (Meta Robots)
(3) Block/ignore the parameters in Google Webmaster Tools
It's a complex subject, and I have a mega-post about it here:

I'm not a Magento expert, though - Joost de Valk has some resources worth checking out:

Is there a way to prevent SEO MOz tools for including those pages
I see them at duplicate page content error and once canonical is there it should not be considered an error, it is just on the way of having nit reports
-
One you add the canonical tag, those URLs will essentially get deindexed and only the canonical version of the URL will get indexed/cached in Google.

Hello Nakul
yes canonical is very important here.
what are your thoughts about the messy reports it creates and the number of pages cached by Google?
Just curious about the work process with those pages present on the reports

Canonical Tag is the most obvious/optimal solution to get rid of these kinds of pages getting indexed and causing internal duplicate content issues.

Too Many Links?
Search Term is Indianapolis Wedding Photographers. Site is http://www.tallandsmallphotography.com/ Their metrics are through the roof compared to everyone else's. They've dropped from 27 in May to 40 Now. 'A' Grade on-site optimization. Either there's too many links, or there's some bad links involved... I don't know which it is...

Having www. and non www. links indexed
Hey guys, As the title states, the two versions of the website are indexed in Google. How should I proceed? Please also note that the links on the website are without the www. How should I proceed knowing that the client prefers to have the www. version indexed. Here are the steps that I have in mind right now: I set the preferred domain on GWMT as the one with www. I 301 redirect any non www. URL to the www. version. What are your thoughts? Should I 301 redirect the URL's? or is setting the preference on GWMT enough? Thanks.

Forms and link juice
On product listing page on e-commerce site We use POST forms as 'Add To Cart' buttons. Because of that We have dozens (~40-80) forms on any product listing page, and two questions regarding them: Does these forms affect link juice of other links on the page? Are there cases when forms are somehow counted by Google as links? Regards, Lucek

Old documents online as link juice
Each month I upload my auction catalog in different formats (word, pdf and rtf). I have about 9 years of catalogues online that have all been indexed by Google. In each catalog there is a link to my terms and conditions page (which has made the page authority for that page quite high in some unusual, but desired keywords), there is also many, many mentions of non-desired keywords in each of those documents and links to my domain. Is it worth updating all these old, previously indexed catalogues with better keyword juice and more relevant links ? Would they even get re-visited by google ? I suppose that leads to the next question... is it worth adding each of these pages to my sitemap ? To this point I have only added my major pages, not any of the subordinate pages etc.

Too many links on my site
Hi there everybody, I am a total SEO newbie and i am burning with questions. I had my site crawled and found out that it contains too many links. The reason is that it is a site where I constantly write news and articles and each one of them is a new Joomla item, thus a new link. I actually thought lots of content is good for SEO. How am I supposed to reduce the link amount?

Should I have a 'more' button for links?
I have a website that has a page for each town. rather than listing all the towns with a link to each, I want to show only the most popular towns and have a 'more' button that shows all of them when you click it. I know that the search engine can always see the full list of links and even though the visitor can't this doesn't go against Google guidelines because there is no deception involved, the more button is quite clear. However, my colleague is concerned that this is 'making life hard' for the search engines and so the pages are less likely to be indexed. I disagree. Is he right to worry about this??
