What is a recommended sitemap generator to use for both us and our clients?
-
Right now we are using xml-sitemaps.com however it looks like it isn't generating an accurate or lengthy sitemap.
Do you have any recommendations?

DYNO Mapper is great for mapping websites that are less than 25,000. This sitemap generator is awesome because it integrates with Google analytics and performs a content audit. You can also collaborate with both you and your clients.

Sure does, thanks for your response!

The otherwise tremendously useful Screaming Frog SEO Spider tool is also capable of creating sitemaps, MW. The function is located under the Advanced Export tab. (You'll have to have the paid version of the tool to have access to this functionality)
This may not work well for extremely large enterprise sites (more a limitation of your own computer running the scan) but for multiple smaller sites, it's great and is platform agnostic.
Of course, like the site you're currently using, this method is only going to create a "snapshot in time" sitemap, not one that updates automatically with each new page published. For that, I still try to use whatever functionality is available from the site's own architecture - such as a plugin assuming it's a CMS-driven site.
The advantage to using the site's own architecture functionality is teh maop is made from page data stored in the database instead of just what can be found by following the links between pages on a site..
That help?

Competitor using our product descriptions
Hi, We have a competitor (with a higher DA) using some content from our product pages word for word on a few of their product pages. It's only a couple paragraphs per product page (including the main product description), not the entirety of the content on the page. It also appears they have scraped some content from another authoritative competitor (and even left their brand name mentioned on it!) I've read mixed thoughts on whether plagiarized content will harm the original site, but am concerned since it is an authoritative site. Should I be concerned since it's only parts of our product page? Thank you all!

Ecommerce seo - competitors are using spammy links to rank HELP
After setting up SEO Moz and whilst waiting for it to crawl my site i have checked out my competitors who are ranking for the keywords i am going after. It appears from what i can see in OSE that they are ranking with back links from spammy looking sites and lots of exact match anchor text. I have tried to match a few links with what they have currently without getting myself into anything too spammy but i really don't want to follow how they have done it exactly. The niche i am in is pretty boring but the rewards are great but i am finding creating content and distributing it correctly difficult which is why i need some help. My site is roughly 9 months old and the product descriptions are hand written trying to give as much info as possible with a hint of personality so no cookie cutter back of the box descriptions. i have matched a few of the links from competitors which weren't too spammy and as relevant as i could get to my niche, i have also created articles for some article directories - all of which isn't really getting me very far and i am running out of ideas on how to create new content & the types of new content to help me get back links naturally. If any of you friendly guys could offer me some assistance in setting up a basic seo campaign which would help me target my keywords i would be very much in your debt

How do I find my client's real competition?
A recently acquired client keeps insisting that his major competitors are online fashion magazines, fashion news sites and insider bloggers but the site he owns is basically a fashion encyclopedia. It contains facts and catalogues and even a dictionary of fashion concepts. According to me, these latter are his benchmarks and not his competition His major competitors, according to me. are people competing on the first SERP pages for terms like "fashion history", "fashion icons", "fashion biographies", etc. Am I right? How do I convince him that these are his real competition. This is really going to determine the direction of my keyword research.

Looking for a recommendation for a site ranking comparison tool.
Hi, It seems that SEOMOZ provides only link ranking comparison with competators. I'm not conviced that this is valuable for my purposes as the comeption often has few links tool, probably the nature of the business.. First, is it worth trying to compare keyword ranking with competators? I think it is, but I'm not that experienced with SEO, especially with Wordpress/Buddpress sites. Second, any recommenations for a tool that will make this easier? Larry

My Competition is using some Strange Achord Text and Inbound Links
I was doing some research and a lot of my competition are websites from Universities, but I got surprised when I saw that a lot of their Anchor Text where things like Buy Viagra , Play poker , Buy Cialis , a lot of their inbound links where about things like that , one of the sites I was doing research on was www.imba.ie.edu , this site was #1 for the keyword I want that is related to education. Also other sites on the #1 page of google for this keyword (universities websites) had the same kind of inbound links and achord texts. Whats going on here??

What % is a GO when using the Keyword difficulty tool?
Hi, A lot of keywords I have looked into say 'moderately competitive' at around 35% - 45%. But what else would you look at in the table to decide whether or not the keyword term is achievable and how do you decide this maybe its the root domain backlinks and maybe you would only touch it if it had less then 30. Basically what other elements do you look at when deciding whether to pursue? This might also include some research in Google itself (although most the data you would want is in the tool, well I think anyway! Cheers

My client has shown me a similar site, though not a competitor. He wants to know what sites they are linked from that give them such a good Google rank for certain kewords. Can SEOMoz tell me this?
When using google.com.au and searching for "travel to france", www.frenchtravel.com.au is the 3rd organic result. (the 1st two are not travel businesses, they are non profit travel guides) My client, who runs www.visituk.com.au, an Australian site that organises tours of the UK, said "so we just need to add these sort of words to the site?" I said, yes, but it doesn't end there. The real task is to have a link to your site on other sites surrounded with the words "travel" and "UK". He asked if he could see a list of the sites the french site was being referred by relevant to the search phrase. Is there an SEOmoz tool for this? Or is there another way I can generate that list? Thanks Simon
