Best Practices for Getting Shares, Likes, Etc on Social Media?
-
I wanted to know what the best practices are for getting people to re-tweet, like, share, and google plus your website.
What has worked best for all of you, and what has worked not so well?
Thanks!
-
Keith,
Thanks for your quick response.
Do you recommend share buttons or like buttons that have a count next to them on the website, rather than the ones that do not?
-
Agreed on timing. Here's a trendy little infographic we did that might be helpful: http://www.fannit.com/social-media-infographic-when-are-the-best-times-to-post/

Yes, we use the sharebar for our wordpress sites (you can find HTML code as well)! It's a must have. I'm sorry I forgot to mention that in my original answer but you really should have some sort of share function that includes some or all of the following:
Google Plus
Like
Tweet
Pin
Stumble
RedditLook at the 2013 factors for ranking that MOZ just put out. The social shares have a big impact on rankings now..especially Google Plus http://moz.com/blog/future-of-search-ranking-factors

So here's part two of my question.
I work mainly for auto dealerships and we do have buttons on them that have the facebook logo, the twitter logo, etc.
I've noticed that by contrast there are buttons on sites with a share, or retweet count on them. Do those serve as better calls to action to encourage people to share or like, etc?
Thanks!

- Create original content. Have some unique perspective. There is no substitute. Original is important than "amazing" as what is "amazing" is different to different audience. And if more people are sharing your content who cares if that was amazing to you or your company.
- Timing: One of single most overlooked factor. If you try creating/seeding content different time, different days you will see which days/time work for you. To run a test we shared same content, same network but at different times., The difference can be huge. We have seen swings of 1200% based on time.
- It gets better as you get some traction. social proof networking effects clearly helps as you get more shares.
- Don't try to create content for the planet. Identify a niche audience initially and target them

Promoting the heck out of your posts! : ) Here's a little insight into our social promotion. Basically, we took our website from about 300 hits per month to over 4000 in a 30 day period by doing social promotion with the following method:
1. Create an amazing article (curated content or developing your own) - Before you just pick anything off hand go check the social spaces to see what your target market is sharing on social spaces. Now you know what people like!
2. Develop an infographic on the article as well - You'll be able to promote your infographic on sites like visual.ly which may get featured to their user base. Not only that, visual,ly ranks incredibly well for content in the SERPS. Visuals really help people engage better with your content. You'll hit people who would rather look at a visual as well as the people who who may want to dig a little deeper into your article.
<address>3. Social Promotion - Ok this is a big list of promotion tactics that we use.... and it works really well (if you have good content). This is a link to my guide http://www.fannit.com/smm/social-media-marketing/. Basically, it's a checklist of things you can do to automate the process a bit. I'd stick it on here but... it's really big.</address>

Best Site or Place to Hire Mid Level SEO Specialists
Hello Mozzers, Our digital agency has been continuously growing which is a good thing BUT recruiting for Junior or Mid Level SEO Specialists is getting harder in our area (we are in Orlando Florida). We post on Indeed.com but the level of knowledge and also the amount of candidates is not a lot. Do you know any other site that only pertains to our industry? Any suggestions? In fact, its been hard , we are even thinking of developing a job board site just for our niche. Your recommendation and thoughts?

Getting started with E-commerce sites
Happy new year, Mozzers We are about to take on our first E-commerce client which will be something new for us as we expand in 2014. Being a small outfit, we've never taken on a type of site like this before, which is great for new experiences and challenges. Do you have any advice, recommendations, suggestions, things to look out for etc, etc when working with E-commerce sites for the first time ever? thanks M

I have several colleagues in the industry (and some fellow marketers) who have asked me where the best places are to look for and post SEO job opportunities. I personally like InBound.org and LinkedIn. Where do you recommend marketeers look for job opportunities? D

Best Tools for Invoicing, Accepting Payments, Sending Receipts
Hey All! I recently started my business about 1.5 years ago and am loving it, doing well, and learning new things every day! I am very curious what others in the industry use for proposals, invoicing, accepting payments and sending receipts. What we are doing now seems like a lot of trouble and we are using different platforms for almost all of it. Since starting, my goal has been to use as little paper as possible, so I do almost everything over the computer. We send out proposals using Quoteroller and that has been very useful because clients can click to the proposal from their email and they can also accept proposals through that link. We invoice clients from Quickbooks Online (QBO) and can have those sent directly to clients' email inbox. We have to manually create a payment link through one of Bluefin's payment platforms. We can send this link through email or add it to the proposal email sent from Quoteroller. After they accept proposals (hopefully!), and make payment, we have to go back into QBO and "receive payment" and this does not send out a receipt to the client. Maybe someone knows a way to fix it to where it does send an automatic receipt when we "receive payment?" If client requests a receipt, we must go into QBO and generate a "sales receipt." So, now that you know our process, are we making ourself work too much? Is there a more simple approach?

What is the best Press Release website?
What is the best press release website for getting a press release in front of writers and news sources? We have used a couple with OK success, but I would like to hear and learn from the experiences of others. Thanks *I am not concerned with the page rank of the press release site or any SEO benefit coming from the PR website itself.

How do i get a description in my google local listing
My site is listed in the serps at number one but where google used to list the name of my site with the meta description below it, now Google lists my site title with my address to the right side and below it says Google+page instead of listing my meta description which had my key search phrase in it and also a call to action to see my video on my site. My click through was much better with the meta description below it and the call to action. is there any way i can get the description back under my title in the serps? Maybe by deleting my Google + page? Thanks in advance, Ron

Where do you job post to find someone specific like video optimizers?
So we have a job opening at our company for a video optimizer and we're looking to fill the position, but we can't seem to get anyone really qualified. If you happen to know anyone or a place to post we would appreciate the help. We're also located in LA so if you know of sites that base things off of location that would be great as well. Here's link to our current posting: http://www.makerstudios.com/jobs/video-optimizer/ Thanks!
