Google Places and Google Local
-
I am pretty confused about how the difference between Google Local, Places and Business Pages. I created a Google+ Page and have about 800 followers.

To control our listing on Google Maps and what shows up on the right side of a Google Search, which includes a map and business hours I had to create a Google Local page. Now this page only shows we have 4 followers.

Is there any way to combine the two?

Try giving Google a call, as now u have that option
-
So basically it seems since I was an early adopter to Google+ and created a business account before there was an option to choose Local, I now have to go with the new local one I created so I can have the benefits of local, and delete my original business account. I will lose all my followers and history. Sooooooo.... this sucks.

This link might help, as well, Joe:

That is correct. There have been cases of pages being connected without a local Google + page, and this was done with a now available phone calling to Google available to small business owners: https://support.google.com/places/ Its worth a shot, even though its not guaranteed.

So basically it seems like if I didnt set up my original Google Plus business page as a Google Local page then I cannot turn it into one? It had to first be a Google Local page?
-
Thanks but none of the links are helping out. I have already verified my business, and it didn't merge my Google Business and Google Local profiles. They are still separate.
-
Yes you can now combine the two: heres a guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H__pBpALfU4
Hope this helps, and here is some of the reasons of why you should merge: http://www.steamfeed.com/why-you-must-merge-your-google-local-and-google-page-now/

SaaS to manage Several Google Places/G+ accounts
Hi, how are you? I have a client that is a company that has aproximately 30 franchises. For each franchise, I created a Google Places (now My Business) profile, and then for each profile I have a G+ profile. The problem is that I need a SaaS or a software that allows me to post in each of those profiles automaticaly, like Hootsuite (when I enter with the account I have registered the Places profiles, it catches the G+ profile of that person, not the GPlaces accounts). Do you know any? Thanks!

How long before we show up in Google+ 7 packs?
Some of our generic, non localized keywords (ex: "Information technology services") are triggering Google+ 7 Pack listings with local results. We are ranking on the first page for those keywords in organic. The companies listed in the 7 packs have worse link profiles, mediocre SEO fundamentals, fewer citations, and no +s or reviews. Our Google+ page has been up for a few weeks, and we added content: images, videos, a detailed profile, and articles. Our competitors have nothing but a blank site. We did our research, and we also built well-optimized pages for each of the keywords that triggers a 7 Pack. Assuming Google decides we deserve to be there, how long should it take for Google to place us in the 7 Packs? Our vertical is a little different - IT Support - the 7 packs are localized within a 40 mile radius, and the organic SERPs are a mix of regional and national (ex: IBM) players. Are the results totally geocentric? Does it pay to build legitimate backlinks to our Google+ page or link there from content on our corporate site?

Has anybody else noticed that Google has made a significant change to their SERP? There is a lot of social data reported from LinkedIn, Youtube and Facebook (includes page likes and activity) when you search by company name. Thoughts anybody?

Google+. Good for all businesses?
Hi guys, My question/discussion is regarding Google+ and whether or not I should advocate creating an account for one of the websites I work in-house for. This particular website focuses on unlock codes for mobile phones and isn't a service that consumers would really want to connect with - which is what Google+ appears to be a vehicle for. It is a one off purchase website, and not something people will use regularly. On the face of it Google+ offers very little for a company that operates in this fashion and makes most sense for B2B businesses. I feel that by potentially creating a Google+ presence we are in fact attempting to manipulate the search rankings because it isn't a networking site that makes sense for our business and there is actually very little real reason for us to get involved with it. I don't think Google would penalise any business for getting involved in their product, but we would only be using it to benefit our ranking position. Surely that is against everything Google themselves stand for? Also, what real benefits have you guys got out of using Google+? If I am to create a presence there, this is the ammo I'll need to use to convince my manager with. Thanks a lot.

Best place to have blog reside
So... I have a fairly new wordpress blog at myblog.com, but the ultimate goal is to drive traffic and increase rankings for mysite.com. With the rise of twitter/facebook influences do you think best to migrate the blog to a directory within www.mysite.com aka www.mysite.com/blog and then 301 direct all the existing pages to the new pages created or is it better to keep the 2 domains seperate and then just have links in the navigation of both sites to each other? My initial thoughts are to incorporate it within www.mysite.com/blog but not 100% sure? Quick follow up question.. Is there an easy code snipit to add to the .htaccss file to 301 direct myblog.com to mysite.com/blog? Thanks for any help and thought on this! John
