Our organic search traffic went flat for 2 weeks Oct 2 - Oct 17\. It has since resumed to more normal numbers. Anyone have any idea why this would happen?
-
Does anyone have any insight as to why our organic search traffic would go to nearly nothing for roughly a 2 week span Oct 2 - Oct 17th? Our regular traffic remained fairly consistent so we were still being indexed. It has now resumed to more normal numbers but I cannot think of anything we did that would make this happen? We did make a 302 switch to be a 301 permanent redirect on our site in early August but that is all I can think of? Any insight or help would be appreciated!

Thank you for your response. All organic search dropped - google, bing, yahoo, etc.. Index status looks normal through that time period. Impressions and clicks carried the same pattern as usual - no change there.

Since only your organic traffic dropped and the reported time frame corresponds to some Google algorithm updates an explanation for this may be that your website lost some rankings for keywords that were bringing you good amount of traffic.
After changes to Google algorithm settled you probably regain the rankings.
I repeat, this is my presumptions in case only your organic traffic dropped. If all your traffic dropped it may be because you have some website downtime...
Or it may be that your traffic didn't drop, just your tracking tool had difficulties (maybe someone in your team accidentally uninstalled tracking code from some of the pages)

All search engines or "just" google? If only google, did the number of indexed pages change during that time? What about the number of query impressions verses clickthroughs?
-
It was not totally flat but huge difference. The weeks prior were holding steady at roughly 5K organic visits per week and then for 2 weeks dropped to about 300 per week.
-
Was it just reporting as flat or did it actually go flat? Big difference there.

Relevant Link, but Low DA...good idea?
If a website has a low DA (not because of spam. Just because it's new or because there isn't a ton of content) but it is industry specific/relevant, then is that worth pursuing? I have read how relevancy is supposed to be a major portion determining a link's benefit, but I"m leery about about something with a low DA - like under 15 low. Thanks, Ruben

Big change to title tags in SERPs for me, anyone else?
Beginning today, when I search in incognito mode, Google is giving me extremely limited titles, and not really going off of the title tag. The results are horrible for users, and make me nervous as an SEO. Image attached below: wGG7QRp

Does Search Volume Directly Effect Organic Search Result Rankings?
For example, if 20,000 people searched for "seomoz toasters," do you think a page on seomoz.org that mentioned toasters would begin to rank well for the query "toasters"?

Benefits of "other" search engines
Hi all, Newbie here. I am looking at ways to drive traffic to my new site and wondered if it's worth attempting to rank in the lesser known search engines. Getting to the top of these may be easier but I wondered if anyone has ever targeted traffic in this way? Thanks

Rankings moving in every 2 days.
Hi, I am seeing strange behavior of Google for my rankings. I have a very competitive keyword (I can't disclose because of NDA) but for example keyword like "Cameras" on google.co.uk , it stayed on #4 spot for years, we have been practising all good SEO techniques for this. From last couple of weeks, it goes to 9 then stays there for 2 days, then come back to 4 for 2 days, then go back to 9 & then after 2 days come back to 4 & it is keep moving like that... at the time of this post, this one is on 9. Our site have been on top for very competitive kws even like word "Camera" we are 2 which is stable... None of our other kws ranks are changed but only word "Cameras" is affected. I am not sure how & why this is happening, I have been following SEOMoz from long time & hope can find solution here. Note : Keywords used here are not actual, but carry equal importance Please let me know.

Organic CTR on Google - KPI?
Hi, I was hoping for some advice on my keyword analysis I have completed. So far I have identified a hitlist of high volume keyword associated to the industry I operate in. As well as this, I'm monitoring our keyword positions within the SERPS. Question: Is there a CTR metric available depending on the position your keyword ranks within Google? i.e. If I am position 3 and looking to move to position 1 on a specific keyword, what amount of incremental search volume would be geneerated to my website? PResumably the CTR would also depend on what market you operate in too I am also going on a 65% / 35% Organic/PPC split based on keyword search volume so to give me a true reflection of the search volume available... Any advice on this would be much appreciated... Simon
