Google crawler showing cache of another page
-
For the page http://www.thinkdigit.com/top-products/Laptops-and-PCs/top-10-laptops-124.php google is showing another page in cache (http://www.thinkdigit.com/top-products/Ultrabooks/top-10-ultrabooks-153.php). Please let me know how this happened and how to correct it.

Hi my friend, if you look at the cache of the URL you gave:
http://www.thinkdigit.com/top-products/Laptops-and-PCs/top-10-laptops-124.php :::: Click Me
You are actually looking at the source code of the following page:
http://www.thinkdigit.com/top-products/Ultrabooks/top-10-ultrabooks-153.php
To confirm this, look at the meta data in the source, it says Ultrabooks.
Now comes the issue where the rel=canonical implementation is incorrect on both the pages as they both point to themselves. Check out the source code of both the pages. Their rel=canonical attributes point to themselves. So as per my original explanation, Google is showing the cache of /top-10-ultrabooks-153.php for top-10-laptops-124.php which is the actual issue at hand. So when you look at the source code of cached page, you are actually looking at the source code of /top-10-ultrabooks-153.php page.
Best,
Devanur Rafi

Your slightly actually incorrect Devanur, the reason the wrong page is cached is because the page previously had a canonical tag referencing the other page.
If you look at the cache of http://www.thinkdigit.com/top-products/Laptops-and-PCs/top-10-laptops-124.php :::: Click Me
You will see in the source code a canonical tag for the other page:
http://www.thinkdigit.com/top-products/Ultrabooks/top-10-ultrabooks-153.php" />
And the info at the top of cache page confirms Google is counting the one page as the other (see attachment)

Hi,
First things first, the page, http://www.thinkdigit.com/top-products/Ultrabooks/top-10-ultrabooks-153.php is not in Google's index.
Secondly, for both the phrases, 'top 10 laptops' and 'top 10 ultrabooks', the page,
http://www.thinkdigit.com/top-products/Ultrabooks/top-10-ultrabooks-153.php, ranks in the first position from your website, thinkdigit.com
So when you try to look-up the cache for a non-existing page in the index, Google tries to return the closest match and which is, http://www.thinkdigit.com/top-products/Ultrabooks/top-10-ultrabooks-153.php
I see a problem with the Sitemap.xml file for your site. Its not comprehensive and if you look at the cache of it in Google, you will see, the page, http://www.thinkdigit.com/top-products/Laptops-and-PCs/top-10-laptops-124.php is in there but its missing in the current Sitemap.xml file.
Here are three things you might do to make http://www.thinkdigit.com/top-products/Laptops-and-PCs/top-10-laptops-124.php in to the Google's index.
1. From Google webmaster tools account, Fetch as Google the above page and submit.
2. Come up with a comprehensive Sitemap.xml file
3. There is no reference to the Sitemap.xml file from Robots.txt file. You can add it as follows:
Sitemap: http://www.thinkdigit.com/sitemap.xml
You should be good after that. All the best to you my friend.
Regards,
Devanur Rafi

Why Google did not index exactly these 2 pages? Any ideas?
Dear Community, on 27th of July I relaunched my own website and submitted the sitemap as well I send the index-page to crawl it including all linked pages. Already the next day the new pages have been indexed. Today I checked them manually if they have been indexed. The result is that 2 of 13 pages have not been indexed, here marked in bold: http://inlinear.com/

http://inlinear.com/kontakt/ The page "/design/" (which is the index.php of this folder should be the main-page because its about WEB DESIGN.
Should I create a copy and call it /design/web-design.php? May be Google prefers a meaningful URL than the index.php? So I put then a rel=canonical to web-design.php in my index.php? design/corporate-design-und-corporate-identity.php
The URL is a little long, but this should not be the reason? Or might be a reason that another page which is still in the index, but not online anymore (even redirecting to /design/) is still more dominant? Strange.... orshould I simply wait a little or try submitting these to sites manually to google? When checking Google Webmasters Tools Google tells me that just 3 pages have been indexed.
When I was checking which page is indexed or not I checked each URL with the site-search option:
site:inlinear.com/pageX.php ... when Google shows this page, it was a sign that it was indexed but why webmasters tools show up only 3 pages? (see screenshot) Do you have any ideas?
Thank You 🙂 indexed.png0 -

Missing meta descriptions on indexed pages, portfolio, tags, author and archive pages. I am using SEO all in one, any advice?
I am having a few problems that I can't seem to work out.....I am fairly new to this and can't seem to work out the following: Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂 1. I am missing alot of meta description tags. I have installed "All in One SEO" but there seems to be no options to add meta descriptions in portfolio posts. I have also written meta descriptions for 'tags' and whilst I can see them in WP they don't seem to be activated. 2. The blog has pages indexed by WP- called Part 2 (/page/2), Part 3 (/page/3) etc. How do I solve this issue of meta descriptions and indexed pages? 3. There is also a page for myself, the author, that has multiple indexes for all the blog posts I have written, and I can't edit these archives to add meta descriptions. This also applies to the month archives for the blog. 4. Also, SEOmoz tells me that I have too many links on my blog page (also indexed) and their consequent tags. This also applies to the author pages (myself ). How do I fix this? Thanks for your help 🙂 Regards Nadia

Page Rank Drop
Just trying to get more feedback - so we recently edited title and meta descriptions for existing website SEO and we've noticed in the past several weeks, our client's website has dropped out of the top 50 in a variety of terms we were targeting that they used to show up for (note: when updating SEO, we DID NOT remove any relevant terms we were targeting). When the website does come up in searches, it is the old meta description and title. So far, the feedback we've gotten is that first, it takes Google a few weeks to recrawl and index - however, we are now on week 3 after the changes and still no rebound in rankings. We were also told to check with the SEO Moz page grader to be sure the keywords were being optimized correctly - got As and Bs for the test terms I tried. We also submitted an XML site map to speed up the crawl process as another user suggested. We've tested the site with various tools to make sure there are redirect errors, etc. and everything looks fine. Again, it's now been 3+ weeks and no ranking rebound. Any other suggestions on what could be happening?
