I would like to know if changing the permalink effects PA of the page?
-
Like lets say abc.com/abc-xyz.. I change that to abc.com/xyz-abc-hij
An established page, having some links to the page(inbound and outbound both). If I change the permalink of that page, will that effect the PA of the page? All the links to the older permalink will be useless or they will link with the new permalink?

Ok Thank you so much for your help!

Hi Moeez
In Google's eyes it will happen within a few days of the new URL and old URL being recrawled. The DA will update in either the next scheduled database refresh (December 17th) or if not, the one after that.

Hi Tom,
Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, I figured that out. I just checked the PR and it was 1. and I realized it will be because I changed the permalink like you said. So I now have implemented a 301 redirect. Now the question is how much time will it take to have the PA back?Thank you again!

Hi there
Yes, not only will it affect the pagerank, it will also affect the actual SEO strength/juice/equity going to the page.
For example, I'll just use a random webpage from Reuters: http://www.reuters.com/places/italy - you can see there is a PA of 84. If I add a random query string to the URL: http://www.reuters.com/places/italy?randomquery - it has a PA of 1.
So that's just adding a query string. If you change the actual permalink structure itself, you will definitely reset the PA and strength of the page. To ensure that the strength of the old URL is passed on, you should implement a 301 redirect to your new permalink.
Hope this helps

Does DA/PA have any effect on rankings?
I have seen many people are concerned about increasing DA and PA of their websites. While I am very curious why do people focus on increasing DA and PA? Does DA and PA effect the rankings of the website? Because I have recently launched my website regarding men beard trimmer and it is ranking on 1st page but not on number 1 position. Will increasing DA/PA of the site help me in occupying 1st position?

2 Similar Pages
Hello, I have two very similar pages. The first page is an apartment rental page with a map, rental listings and some neighborhood data below. The neighborhood data includes useful info about the area with photos, text about the area, crime rates, avg. rental rates, etc. The second page is a neighbourhood guide that includes virtually the same data as the rental page, but in longer form ie. more photos, more text, etc. I want the rental page to rank, while ranking the neighborhood page is not important as it would be used more for link bait. But since the information on the two pages is the same, I don't want them to compete with each other. I'm thinking of putting a cannonical tag on the neighborhood page pointing back to the rental page. Is that the correct thing to do in this instance? Thanks for your help. J

Why isn't our site being shown on the first page of Google for a query using the exact domain, when its pages are indeed indexed by Google
When I type our domain.com as a query into Google, I only see one of our pages on the homepage, and it's in 4th position. It seems though, that all pages of the site are indexed by google when I type in the query "site:domain.com". There was an issue at the site launch, where the robots.txt file was left active for around two weeks. Would this have been responsible for the fact that another domain ranks #1 when we type in our own domain? It has been around a couple of months now since the site was launched. Thanks in advance.

Can I just change it to www.abc.com/sub or it will raise duplicate content issue?

Limiting On Page Links
Right now, we have about 160 or so links on the home page. It's been recommended that we keep it to under 100, though that's not as big of a deal as it once was. Is it helpful to make a bunch of those links "nofollow" in order to preserve link juice? Is it going to make a difference, or be at all helpful? I assume it won't be harmful, especially as a bunch of them are to the same page but on different sections of the page. Would live your advice and thoughts! Thanks!

Canonical to the page itself?
Hello, I'd like to know what happens when you use canonical to the same page itself, like: Page "example.com" rel canonical="example.com" Does that impact in something? Bad or good? See ya!

SEOMOZ suggested site optimzation change on 1 low level page
I asked this before, but did not really get an answer, so checking again. Really grateful for any help... My question is: Based on the PRO crawl Diagnostics – if we don’t make a recommended change on say 1 rather obscure page, does that just affect the SEO on that one page only, or does it potentially affect the SEO on all (more important) pages of the site? e.g. home page etc E.g. If we get a “Too many on page links” for a certain page that we don’t really want to rank for – does not fixing that particlaur page really affect the SEO for the site as a whole? Or just that 1 page (that I don't really care too much about) Hope someone is able to answer, thanks so much...
