Google Finds New Zealand Websites
-
Ok my VPS is in America and all my websites with .co.nz have been found by google but luggagenz.com doesn't come up...
I then realised that all my websites are classed as american... umm how do I change this without moving my vps?
-
The geotargeting in WMT should take care of it, but also make sure you include your local address on the site with microformatting, google map(s) if applicable and the country name listed globally like in the footer if possible, as additional indicators.

Hi Michael,
If you don't want to move VPS then simply you can change your target country to NZ in webmaster tool so Google can recognize that your site is target for NZ . So for that you no need to change your hosting server because many people use .com extensions but they set their target country as UK if they want to rank in UK.

Hi Michael,
When I check google.co.nz the website luggagenz.com shows up.
When the extension is .co.nz the sites will be classed by google as NZ. Checkout webmastertools --> Configuration --> Settings --> Geographic target

Building a new website post penalty and redirects
A website I'm working on is clearly algorithmically penalised. I've spent a lot of time mass disavowing spammy links, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. We have been planning to build a new website anyway since we are rebranding. 1. Is it possible to tell which pages are most likely to have a penalty applied? 2. If the website as a whole has a penalty, will redirecting certain pages to the new website carry the penalty? 3. Our website is structured as sales pages and blog content. It is the sales pages that have the spammy links, yet most of the blog content does not rank either. Would it be a good strategy to only redirect all the blog posts (which have natural links pointing to them) to the new website and not the sales pages? 4. The homepage has a mix of spam and very good editorial links. If I have disavowed links and domains, can I safely redirect this page?

Website Migration Query
We are going to migrate our site but we cannot do this gradually, so before we complete the whole migration, we were thinking of launching the new site on a sub-domain and gradually redirect traffic to the sub-domain, starting with 10%, moving up steadily so that we then migrate to the new site within four/five weeks. The new site will have a new URL structure on the same domain, with a complete re-design and the IP address will be changing as well, even though the server geographical location will remain the same. a) Should we noindex the new sub-domain while the new site is on trial? b) Are there any other issues we should look out for? Thanks in Advance 🙂

Google site: operator showing only 30 results for whatever website you may like, omitting the rest
site:wikipedia.org site:seomoz.org site:nytimes.com site:WHATEVER YOU PUT HERE 🙂 is currently always showing just 3 SERP pages and the well known ugly message: In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 30 already displayed.

If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included. Any idea what's going on?!!? Ongoing update?0 -
Google Penalty Investigation
Hi All, I've recently had a google penalty, and have spent a long while working through tying up any loose ends with my site (I'm building a new one, so you'll still see some probs on my current one). My search referrals do slowly seem to be recovering, but only for variations of terms that are similar to 'bike repair'. Now, my site does primarily offer bike repair advice, so that's a good thing, but I'm not yet ranking for any of my specific keywords. One example is that I used to rank quite high for the term 'schrader valve'. Is this a signal of anything in particular? Or can I not read anything specific into this? Thanks!

How to find out if I have been penalized?
I have launched a new website beginning January this year and have seen slowly more and more traffic coming from google to the website until the 20th of March where suddenly there are no more visitors from the google search engine. The only traffic left is from google images, social networks or other search engines. Without visitors from google search this reduces our overall traffic by ~66%. I can't easily find anymore our website in the search results of google by using terms which we usually ranked quite well. Nevertheless, the website is still indexed as I can find it using the "site:" search query. In google webmaster tools there are no messages and we have only been doing a bit of link building on website and blog directories (nothing excessive and nothing paid neither). Is there any way to find out if google penalized my website? I guess it has... and what would be the best thing to do right now? The website is hellasholiday (dot) com Thanks in advance for your idea and suggestions

Google not visiting my site
Hi my site www.in2town.co.uk which is a lifestyle magazine has gone under a major refit. I am still working on it but it should be ready by the end of this week or sooner but one problem i have is, google is not visiting the site. I took a huge gamble to redo the site, even though before the refit i was getting a few thousand visitors a day, i wanted to make the site better as i was getting google webmaster errors. But now it seems google is not visiting the site. for example i am using sh404sef and i have put friendly url in the site and on the home page it has its name and meta tag but when you look at google it is not giving the site a name. Also it has not visited the site since october 13th Can anyone advise how to encourage google to visit the site please.
