Noticed a lot of duplicate content errors...
-
how do I fix duplicate content errors on categories and tags? I am trying to get rid of all the duplicate content and I'm really not sure how to. Any suggestions, advice and/or help on this would be greatly appreciated. I did add the canonical url through the SEO Yoast plugin, but I am still seeing errors. I did this on over 200 pages.
Thanks for any assistance in advance.

Awesome! Thanks so much! I will start fetching! Appreciate that!

Should be immediate on your site.
Moz crawler would take a few crawls probably. Googlebot you can fetch as Google from Webmaster Tools to make sure they crawl it right away.
If you just make the changes and nothing else, you will just be waiting on Google to update it. I'd suggest fetching as Google via WMT and submited all URLs(theres an option there) when fetching.

One follow up... once I update all the duplicate content related issues, approximately how long will it take to see the revisions take place?

Thank you Federico and William. Really appreciate that. Yes, I have started "no-indexing" the tags and am working my way through the list. I will start only using one category per post from here on out. Thanks again and I really do appreciate your feedback... It helped me immensely!

Here are some general things you can do to get rid of duplicate content. Albeit it is slightly more complicated in implementation and when to use them.
rel=canonicals - similar content pages
rel=prev, rel=next - pagination
noindex - pages that are irrelevant or useless. empty pages that are very similar could be a time to use this. or pages that you do not want or believe can be an asset from a user. like shopping cart.
301 redirect - to pages that are pretty much the sameThere are many ways to approach duplicate content and depending on your site it will vary. Whether it is a straight forward issue like tags and categories, or if its slightly more complicated in unique parameters that filters a category in a faceted concept.
From your post it seems you have an issue with tags and normally I'd say to noindex tags or canonical them to the proper category. From what I remember /tags/ being indexed is not a good practice.

For the tags, easy: noindex them, those pages don't offer any value to search engines.
For the categories you could perhaps go the same way, or use another approach and only use 1 category per post.

Duplicate Page Content and Titles from Weebly Blog
Anyone familiar with Weebly that can offer some suggestions? I ran a crawl diagnostics on my site and have some high priority issues that appear to stem from Weebly Blog posts. There are several of them and it appears that the post is being counted as "page content" on the main blog feed and then again when it is tagged to a category. I hope this makes sense, I am new to SEO and this is really confusing. Thanks!

Is this duplicate content when there is a link back to the original content?
Hello, My question is: Is it duplicate content when there is a link back to the original content? For example, here is the original page: http://www.saugstrup.org/en-ny-content-marketing-case-infografik/. But that same content can be found here: http://www.kommunikationsforum.dk/anders-saugstrup/blog/en-ny-content-marketing-case-til-dig, but there is a link back to the original content. Is it still duplicate content? Thanks in advance.

Is duplicate content ok if its on LinkedIn?
Hey everyone, I am doing a duplicate content check using copyscape, and realized we have used a ton of the same content on LinkedIn as our website. Should we change the LinkedIn company page to be original? Or does it matter? Thank you!

Multiple Sites Duplicate Content Best Practice
Hi there, I have one client (atlantawidgets.com) who has a main site. But also has duplicate sites with different urls targeting specific geo areas. I.e. (widgetmakersinmarietta.com) Would it be best to go ahead and create a static home page at these add'l sites and make the rest of the site be nonindexed? Or should I go in and allow more pages to be indexed and change the content? If so how many, 3, 5, 8? I don't have tons of time at this point. 3)If I change content within the duplicate sites, what % do I need to change. Does switching the order of the sentences of the content count? Or does it need to be 100%fresh? Thanks everyone.

Caps in URL creating duplicate content
Im getting a bunch of duplicate content errors where the crawl is saying www.url.com/abc has duplicate at www.url.com/ABC The content is in magento and the url settings are lowercase, and I cant figure out why it thinks there is duplicate consent. These are pages with a decent number of inbound links.

Tags and Duplicate Content
Just wondering - for a lot of our sites we use tags as a way of re-grouping articles / news / blogs so all of the info on say 'government grants' can be found on one page. These /tag pages often come up with duplicate content errors, is it a big issue, how can we minimnise that?

How critical is Duplicate content warnings?
Hi, So I have created my first campaign here and I have to say the tools, user interface and the on-page optimization, everything is useful and I am happy with SEOMOZ. However, the crawl report returned thousands of errors and most of them are duplicate content warnings. As we use Drupal as our CMS, the duplicate content is caused by Drupal's pagination problems. Let's say there is a page called "/top5list" , the crawler decided /top5list?page=1" to be duplicate of "/top5list". There is no real solution for pagination problems in Drupal (as far as I know). I don't have any warnings in Google's webmaster tools regarding this and my sitemap I submitted to Google doesn't include those problematic deep pages. (that are detected as duplicate content by SEOMOZ crawler) So my question is, should I be worried about the thousands of error messages in crawler diagnostics? any ideas appreciated
