Links from same server or not?
-
Hello,
I make websites so every website I make has a backlink to my website. Currently all my websites are hosted on server A, but my OWN website is hosted on server B.
I plan to move my website to server A too.
This will indicate that all the backlinks I have currently are from a difference server, now all these links will come from the SAME server.
Will this have any results on my positions? Is this something that you have to take into account?

Hi Jeroen,
I'd be very careful about placing sitewide links on all your client sites that point back to you site. This could easily end up hurting you. Here's an example where WPMU.org was hit because they were doing something similar - http://moz.com/blog/how-wpmuorg-recovered-from-the-penguin-update.
I think the best thing for you to do is add a "nofollow" tag to all the links from your clients' sites that point to your site. This should help protect you and then moving your site over to Server A won't be a problem either.
Hope this helps.
Tim

Resource linking
Is a resource linking page a good way to build backlinks? Do I need to ask permission of the site I am linking? & If do build a resource page do I have to keep in mind keyword density rule, not to stuff too many links on page? I see one of my competitors using a "resource page" and linking to some high athority sites, (which I know they have not asked permission) b/c they are big name site, NFL, NHL, ESPN etc. Any suggestions much appreciated! Thank you!!!

Are the following considered bad links for Link Building.
I've been doing a lot of research lately on link building & I've read a lot about having a diverse amount of links. Social links, Blog links, comment links, footer links, No follow links, Directory links as well as links with Anchor text URL match, brand match, partial brand match, non-descriptive, and with keywords. But there is a lot of talk of removing those links that look like a site that's built just for link building purposes.... but Directories are basically built for link building are they not? I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if they feel links from the following directories would be bad links. (Non-Paid) http://www.yoganza.com http://www.wkool.com http://www.wee-directory.com http://www.voicelet.com www.hotfrog.ca http://www.webdirectorieslist.com http://multiplelistingboard.com http://mozdirectory.net http://freedirectorypr.info Industry specific below: http://bestautolinks .com http://automotivedome.com http://automobilebuzz.com http://craigsautolinks.com Thanks so much for the help!

Links or Redirect?
My client's company has just acquired another company in the same industry and with that acquisition came two websites; companyname.com and companyname.co.uk. companyname.com has PA13 and DA10, companyname.co.uk has PA15 and DA10. At the moment, the two companies are to be run as separate companies but will become fully merged in time. My client's own website is brand new (PA1 and DA) and I'm wondering what is the best way to use these other two sites to improve my client's search ranking. Should I use the two sites to link to my client (these would be logical and natural links e.g. explaining the acquisition, under new management) or would it simply be better to redirect the domains to the new site? Many thanks

Edu links service
http://www.getedubacklink.com/ I found this site and was curious if anybody knew if they were legit or quality links in any way. My site has thousands of legit backlinks (none paid or even built through a service) so I was interested in building a greater diversity from domain extensions and thought edu links would be good. However most edu pages I find that allow any links are SPAMMED hard and not worth my time. Thoughts

Link Building Tactics
Without giving all of your secrets away, what are your basic link building tactics? I'm trying to do everything legit, but man is it tough to get links from legit sites. This is the first time I've truly had to go out and build links. I am trying to partner with bloggers in my industry to post a review of our site and submitted to some of the major paid directories and stuff like that, but I'm curious to know what the pro's do.

Types of links for 2011?
So far in 2011 we have seen some minor and some quite major updates to the Google Algorithm. So what does this mean for future link building in 2011, what type of links do people think are going to continue to work? Are directory and article submissions totally dead? I personally believe that this year a big area of link building that is going to be crucial is Guest Blog Post, finding high quality relevant websites and getting a guest post done on them. This is personally what I am really going to target this year.
