Blog Marketing
-
Hi everyone, I have a quick question regarding blog marketing. A colleague is embarking of her new years resolution to get in shape and is blogging about her experience, which has so far been successful. Can anyone suggest any good free blog directories where I can list her Blog? Or any other ways to market her blog? (she will be doing one post a week over the next 20 weeks)

Keri,
There are some excellent profiles that can share your content, unlike other "services" that are paid to share, the people sharing the posts are actually reading and finding them interesting enough to share. Of course, there are some that click on each and every share button just to get the credits, but as viralcontentbuzz "pays" by how popular you are based on metrics (I think from Klout) those that share just for the credits can't do you no harm.
I've used them for several posts and some ended up with tweets from high level profiles that got retweets, favs, etc.
I am totally against their paid version as it could become a paid to share scheme, which ends up as a way of spamming the networks, but still, high end profiles won't share everything just for the points, they have a "reputation" to maintain.

Federico, can you speak to the visitors you get from viralcontentbuzz? Do they have the same time on site as other visitors? How is their conversion rate? I've only had a small amount of experience with them, and I did see a difference in the analytics of the posts I've seen that used it.

There are lots of blog directories, but those won't get you any significant traffic at all. In fact, I would recommend you focus on social media to become viral.
First, make sure you have created a FB page, Twitter profile and G+ page, verify everything needed and start posting on the 3 networks on a regular basis. Not only post your blog posts, but try to build a community. This could take a while (and you can push it with a few ads from facebook and twitter). Remember to use hashtags to get new followers that read about certain topics.
Then you can also use sites like viralcontentbuzz, which allows others to share your pages in exchange of sharing theirs. There's also a paid version that gives you more exposure and a few of free credits, although the idea is to share in exchange, not to "buy shares".
To add up, you can always offer yourself to guest post on other related blogs, even if the outbound links are nofollow (no juice to the site), you still get your article and your name out there.
There are millions of other ways to promote your blog that I;m sure you'll discover on the way
Hope that helps!

Blog.site.com vs site.com/blog
Which is better for SEO: blog.site.com or site.com/blog. In other words, is it better to have the blog running in a subdomain or as a director within the main site? Right now we are running as a subdomain, but want to be sure Google isn't considering that a separate site. The blog shows up separately on Google Analytics, which makes me think site.com/blog is better if for no other reason, it would give our domain greater traffic. Not sure if this matters, but some site info: our site is a sharing economy tool for renting your stuff we are running the blog on Wordpress blog traffic is about 5% of total traffic

Blog Frequency
Hi, We have a new blog, we write 4 blogs per month and have been posting all 4 in one go at the same time per month. Would it be more beneficial to post the blogs 1 per week or does it not matter? Also, is 4 blog 250 word blogs per month enough or should we be doing more? Thanks Andrew

Benefits put my blog inside website or outside the website
Hi everyone, I wonder if you can provide some information regarding inside or outside blogs benefits. One of us thinks that the blog should be within our website URL. And the other one thinks that it should be a separate url. I believe an outside blog will provide SEO benefits but we hope that you will provide us your thoughts on this issue? Thanks for all of your help. Antonio

Duplicate Text on Blog & Internal News Page
I have two places I post news for our company. Our blog - typically more informal posts

mycompany.wordpress.com & Our news page - typically more newsworthy than the blog
mycompany.com/news My question is, It is okay to just copy the exact text from my wordpress blog and paste to my news area of my site and vice versa? Does this hurt ranking potential for either page?0 -
Blogging Software Compatible with asp.net server?
I’m in the works of setting up a company blog right now but I’m struggling to find a great blogging software (preferably free). I’d like to keep the blog in a folder, so energyacuity.com/blog, but I’ve been told I need to find a blogging service that is compatible with asp.net so we can download it (?) to our server…meaning wordpress is out of the question. Does anyone have any recommendations?
