Should we implement rel=author on every past blog post
-
Hi guys, we're in the process of implementing rel=author markup on our blogs containing more than 3,000 posts. They are written by about 50 different people, and some of them don't blog anymore or are no longer with the company.
Should we have rel=author for all blog posts, even those published in 2006?
Thanks for your help!

Great question! I think this is a question that a lot of people are thinking about right now. I know we've thought about it recently.
This question, definitely has a lot to do with company culture. Remember that the rel=author tags connects to personal pages not company pages, so the important question is, do you still want people who no longer work at your company to support it? Obviously Google's rel=author does have an SEO impact, however if these people were unhappy when they left the company having their friends see your company in Google search with an image of them might leave a bad taste in there mouth.
If you don't have this problem and don't think people will mind, I say go for it, especially if they are G+ users. This will affect the searches of people in the Authors circles and hopefully have an overall impact on your search volume. It will help authors who are no longer with your company, through branding and will help your company overall, so it will be a win/win for both parties.

Blog or article length and SEO value
Why do different blog lengths affect SEO differently? Is it directly affected by Rankbrain or the Google Algorithm, or is it more because of user engagement?

Is it ok to have two blogs for my website?
Hi Pep's The blog for my website is integrated, but does not have a URL that matches the text. The company I use for my site say that it can't be changed. Basically it displays numbers instead of text in the url. So I thought, what about starting another blog as well as the original. Would this have any effects on my SEO, negative or positive? Any advice greatly appreciated! 🙂

Wordpress Blog Pages, Duplicate Title Tag
Anyone have any experience in fixing the duplicate Title tag on a Wordpress blog multiple pages Basically the title tag remains the same on the pages /Blog/ /Blog/Page/2/ /Blog/Page/3/ My good friend Yoast Plugin doesn't seem to of resolved this (Unless i have missed something?) I don't really see this to be effecting anything and wouldn't of through it would either, but it would be nice to not see the notification within Moz site crawls and campaigns etc, its more of a cosmetic problem Any solutions ? Thanks James

The rel="alternate" tag
Hey guys and gals. So I run a hyperlocal blog and get a heap of press releases sent to me daily. I don't have time to rewrite each one before posting it to the website, so I am aware that I am duplicating content and possibly extracting link juice from the original source. Would using the rel="alternate" tag highlighting the source on each press release page fix this? Am I correct in saying this tag tells google that the content on the page is sourced from elsewhere? I also get requests from other sites for my original posts to be posted on their websites but I decline because of duplicate content, would asking for this same ' the rel="alternate" tag' fix on their website be wise? Thanks in advance JC

The concept of Blogging
Can anyone describe the fundamentals of blogging? Should I be aiming blog posts at "subject A vs subject B" or more on recent projects that have been worked on such as "keyword working with company A to complete subject X" ? Also, should I allow comments on posts and filter out the spam using plugins and manual methods or should I just turn them off and forget the hassle? Any help would be grand!

Does Google penalize for duplicate blog posts?
Occasionally, I get asked by another blogger if they can repost (in full) one of our blog posts on their blog as a guest post. I've always been under the impression that Google penalizes this type of behavior, but I haven't seen any evidence. Is this true?

Adding External Blog Feed
I have a client who's a member of the Loopnet.com community. They have a place on their profile to add an external blog feed. Our question is does adding the RSS feed from an external blog have any SEO value or do we run into issues with duplicate content with the same blog posts published on two different websites?

Blog Anchor Text SEO Query
Apologies if the following is a basic question but I am just starting out with SEO and I have seen this quite a lot recently on sites I have been on. My question is if you have a self hosted blog e.g. blog.site.com or site.com/blog and you use keyword anchor text in your blog post does that bring SEO benefits in itself or does the blog post have to be shared/commented by readers to have an effect? I have seen/heard of many sites spending a lot of money getting copy done or spending their own time and resources starting a blog but the blogs remain unshared or comment-less. I am starting my own blog to go with my social media and website so I wanted to establish the basics. Thanks in advance guys.
