Comparing with Open Site Explorer
-
Hi,
I am trying to compare a website that has a url of e.g. https://mysite.com on Open Site Explorer. Any idea how to do this?
It will only compare it when I use www and it also doesn't accept https.
So I am comparing www.mysite.com which has redirects on it https://mysite.com but I am worried it's not comparing the right stats?
If this makes sense and you can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Shaun,
Currently, OSE doesn't fully support https, so it's possible your link metrics may be skewed. That said, if your backlinks come from primarily http sites, and point to the http version, you will still see these link metrics reported in OSE.
OSE should be able to handle https within a couple of months - Rand has said it's a high priority for the engineering team. In the meantime, if it's important, you might try Majestic.
Hope this helps. Best of luck with your SEO!

http:// is automatically added to any address you put into OSE.
If there is a redirect from one page to another then OSE will automatically show the data for the page that is redirected to (the main page).
However there is a yellow box that appears above the link data that will give you the option of exploring the data for the redirected page.
Make sense?

Site visitors dropped off- have tried everything
Hello Moz team....I love the tools but I'm more of a content created for my web site than a developer. So I am super stuck with a major money losing problem. My traffic has nearly gone to zero and I have good content, regular content, no duplicate content, and so on. Can someone help.... Today I disavowed thousands of bad inbound links found in a Moz report Since January I have been fixing pages with missing meta data found in the crawl report In December 2018 I switched over to HTTPS I have no clueeeeeee

I can't find any inbound links that I know I have on open site, ahref or majestic. Does anyone know why?
Since the linkscape update before Christmas I have built a couple of links to fairly high quality sites. I can't find them on open site though or the other tools I mentioned. I'm a bit concerned there is an issue with my site. Does anyone have any idea why? I'm stumped. My site: www.emporiumofmanliness.co.uk

Page Authority is the same on every page of my site
I'm analyzing a site and the page authority is the exact same for every page in the site. How can this be since the page authority is supposed to be unique to each page?

Conflicting Data with Open Site Explorer & SEO Moz Toolbar
Hi there, Why is my SEOmoz toolbar showing me higher linking root domains than open site explorer? For example, for this site: http://thisisouryear.com/, the linking root domains in SEOMOZ show 1,015 and in open site explorer it says it has 35. I have noticed this for other sites as well. Which one is right? And why are they different?

Open Site Explorer.. Bit of a let down?
Hi, not too sure if this is a discussion or rant!? I’ve been following SEOMoz for a couple of years now. Testing their tools, reading their blogs, sharing their content, and watching the whiteboard Friday videos (massive thumbs up to that one!). They are at the top of the game, no argument there. Although I should have done so much earlier, I have eventually signed up to the pro version and am about to migrate all my clients over. But there is one major caveat which I’m not sure should exist.. Open Site Explorer. Don’t get me wrong, OSE provides invaluable metrics, some that no other ‘crawler’ provides, but it is far from perfect, there are things that we SEO’s need, and are hoping to get! Some feature SEOMoz could add; Ability to view a chart of ‘link types’ (i.e. blog post, social media, Press Release etc..) – Linkdex do this! Utilise a ‘fresh‘ backlink index as Majestic SEO do. ( we do use majestic alongside SEOMoz) Crawl more frequently – enough said! Index all ‘not so good’ backlinks – this will help identify what backlinks AREN’T helping. I realise this is a lot easier said than done, and I’m sure SEOMoz are working on solutions.. just can’t wait till they launch! What do you think? IS OSE more than it’s cracked up to be? Could it be improved? Let me know 🙂 Lee

Why doesn't Open Site Explorer recognize the link from my twitter profile?
When I run a report on my competition I'm seeing their link show up in OSE's report under the "Linking Domains" tab, but when I put my site in there, it doesn't recognize my link from my twitter profile. Any ideas?

Open Site Explorer Question- Link Value?
One of my backlinks is from a site that has a page authority of 74. However, the domain is a domain I purchased and 302'd to my current main domain. What I'm wondering (without getting into why a 301 is better than a 302) is this: does OSE have any tool that shows if there is actually value in a link? My assumption is that despite this domain having a PA of 74, the 302 is not passing over any value. To be clear, I understand that a 302 doesn't pass over any SEO value, but my question is whether or not OSE shows the value of a link? Thanks!

Mozbar export of serp overlay as csv not opening on Mac OS w/FF.
Its works on my (virtual) Window based machine in FF. And when I open that same file on my Mac OS, it works! However, when downloading the overlay data to csv on my Mac OS in FF, i get a super long file name & then the file won't open? Shows -5000 error? Both in Excel and Open Office. Any ideas? Both new version of Excel & Mozbar.
