Higher Traffic Numbers?
-
Recently we have been getting higher organic traffic number than usual? Some of them are keywords that I have not been working on? How is this possible? When Google gives you a bump is it gradually? Most of them long tail words. If our backlink/content building is slowly beginning to work would this explain it? I did submit my site to BOTW and Yahoo, not sure if this could also be why we are getting a boost?
Thank You

I've heard of a number of webmasters lately who saw a big jump in traffic after the last Panda update. Some of them attributed it to their own site making a recovery, and many feel that they did better because their competitors got affected by Panda.
I feel that Google is getting better at identifying long tails and that is good for sites with good content!

I was thinking the same on the penguin update, on a few weeks ago my traffic was triple what is was, then slowly tapered off. Im hoping these are perm.
Thanks very much!

I would say so (depending which seo efforts were undertaken of course).
Also I have noticed myself that for some our clients our traffic has gone up, due to competitors being crushed by the penguin update.

Hello! the majority of traffic is now long tail organic, reason I ask is b/c this is the first spike of organic traffic ive seen. I guess this would be from all of my seo efforts?

Hi LittleBigMan,
Your best bet finding out where your traffic is coming from is checking your Analytics (which hopefully has been setup?).
On the left you'll be able to go from Traffic Sources -> Search -> Organic. On this page you'll see all the keywords that have brought you in traffic organically.
Also check under the referrals tab to see if BOTW and Yahoo are bringing you any traffic.
Best of luck!

Gained a number of new 'do-follow' links - Good or Bad?
So, my client's site is on a subdomain of the parent site and there were a number of links previously pointing to the subdomain site from the main site which were all no-follow so were purely for referral/traffic benefits. Around the end of February, the main site changed all the links to 'do-follow'. Is this likely to have caused the decline we've recently seen in organic traffic to the site and a drop in rankings? I'm curious as to how that could have affected the site as we didn't know and have only just found out about it but I'm not sure how to show that it's led to a decline. Any help is appreciated!

Low number of internal links
Hello everyone, we are strugling with low number of internal links on most of our pages. For exmaple page http://www.nejlevnejsi-knihy.cz/autor/jo-nesbo.html according to OpenSiteExplorer has only 1 internal link. I checked number of pages really linking to it and it is more than 50. All linking pages are listed in sitemap and exist more than 6 months. Thanks for your help! Kafka

Any ideas why organic traffic seems to have hit a plateau?
I run an eCommerce store and have a decent number of quality links pointing to it(which is still growing). It's been 6 months since I started it, and I'm getting between 100-120 organic visits per day right now. I've had a few more quality guest post/infographic links, and I'm also focusing on optimizing individual pages, but my traffic still seems to have plateaued. I'm beginning to doubt that more links is the answer. All of my content is unique(no manufacturer descriptions) and I'm still being outranked by sites that have spammier link profiles and copy/paste descriptions. Any thoughts?

Is bold text anchor link worth the higher price tag in directory listing?
Does it make a difference with Google if anchor link text is bold? The niche directory is offering regular lifetime listing for $199 (actual page pr 6) or bold for $349 (same page, same position). Also bold link has option of including email address. Does email address have any effect on SEO? Seems like a bad deal for bold, isn't it?

Recommended number of links on a single page to a different domain?
Hello fine SEOMOZ people, I have looked around and hope I have not missed an answer to this. The big picture: I know that when multiple links on a page point to the same external page, only the first link is considered for ranking purposes (at least for moz rank). What about multiple links on a page to (different) pages on the same external domain? The task: Using a client's network of sites to help build links (and advertise features) to the site they need optimised. The emphasis is on the usefulness of the info the the respective site's user but I am using the opportunity to create some meaningful anchor text links. The target site is feature rich and I could conceivavbly link to all the key site features (top level pages). However, my SEO spidey senses flagged the possibility that a few links on a page to the target domain (though to different pages on that domain), may carry more weight than many links on the page. I am talking about whether I can go ahead and put 10-15 links on a page to the key site features or whether I am (significantly) better off just selecting 2-5 key target feature pages and using other domains to link to the other features. Caveat: I think I am aware of all the peripheral concerns - not duplicating the page on other sites, varying the anchor text, not implementing the links all at once etc, etc.. Am I overthinking this?
